Wasn't a slam against women anyway - so far as I can see - it was a observation based on previous posting history. (about the cycles thing that was posted)
as for the quote in my sig line - it was something funny I heard once.. also is kinda true.. there is a bitch at my work - and she is a grade A c*nt. It would be just as true if I said calling that prick at work a polesmoker.
I think people read too much into things.... I think theres a whole group out there that WANT to be offended, just so they can act indignant about it and bring importance into their lives. Thats the way I see it.
As for me - I'm Australian - I call inanimate objects the 'c' word - its part of my culture and shit.
Ah well - for once in blue moon the oppotunity is there for me to get my work done early and get the fuck outta dodge... seeings how I have a house full of unpacked shit awaiting me - and no net at home till Tuesday - I think I'll open this window of opportunity and make like George Reeves.
Later gaters and have fun storming the castle..
oh and good luck with the happening thingy.

From: Sarendale Parvenu Slams against women are OK in the forums. For instance,
A parallel statement based on race prejudice, like "Freedom of speech... It's not just a birthright, it's the ability to call that Jew at work "the Christ Killer.", would almost certainly not be allowed.
Why?
The Community Standards' Intolerance section says "The use of derogatory or demeaning language or images in reference to another Resident's race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or sexual orientation is never allowed in Second Life." but it's not enforced with regard to female or male, assuming that gender includes biological sex.
It's part of the same sexist omnirpresent background that produces error messages that say "Abort or Retry?" without the slightest idea that to a good percent of the world, the word abort means something other than stop or quit.
Oh, well, yeah, they are probably trying to rile you up as well. Don't let them. thank you, your post made things much easier to tolorate. Cat

From: Boliver Oddfellow Yes cat/martin I sure do. And as such I bet you will enjoy the entertainment arts edu and immersive branded experiences IV and EC provide . All I am saying is dont shoot the providers for doing a good job. We arent evil or out to use the system we are out to make money by making Sl better and harnessing the power of web 3D. We dont ask you say thanks we just want ( and I seak for only we here not the electric sheep) to have you stop downing us and looking for places to say we are doing something wrong I had not questioned anything about what your companies were doing in SL. I was questioning how the message of what you were doing, was done. If the Lindens think its fine, then it must be fine. It felt wrong to me; how it was announced. If it had been placed in announcements or special attractions I probably wouldn't of batted an eye to begin with. I should be allowed to question things, without a backlash. Especialy when it comes to rl businesses. Cat

oh and good luck with the happening thingy. Everyone has a breaking point. But I will not make excuses or beg forgiveness for losing my temper on occasion. Big deal some little pissant got the better of me. That doesn't make me less of a person, and it certainly doesn't make them a bigger person. Cycle? Of life maybe. If anyone lives their lives showing no emotion what so ever, then I feel sorry for them for not living, feeling, and being human. Cat

Cat Never said you didn't - just making an observation. I think you read way to much into stuff and then get pissed at what you read into it. The reply to the first poster was an example of that. The reply here is a better example. *shrug* As we say ... big fuckin deal.

I think you should do best to remember that, and that you said it. As for us artistic types, I don't get that moody - I get introspective.. but I soon shake it off.

From: Martin Magpie Well if that wasn't meant to insite anger I don't know what is. What do you mean by that? My menstral cycle. Is that a slam against women? Or are you just being snide and trying to push me into saying something I normaly wouldn't?
I think its the last one.
Cat Against women? Ehhh no, I was talking about a personal observation of you over the past few years. I was referring to what I see as a cycle you go through 3 to 4 times a year when you pick a topic or person ... or both ... and go on a serious and very strange ranting bend. Frankly, I've gotten tired of them ... Feel free to report for something if you like.

From: Martin Magpie Your off topic, and this fixation you have with me is becoming unhealthy. Uhhh, this thread was about congratulating the people who were working on "The Happening" getting slashdotted. The first reason I came to these forums was your posts in these very forums that Indigo was going to mean big business advertising in SL, and now you're going on about something similar. Pot, meet kettle. Now let's get back ON-TOPIC and just enjoy the event today! Regards, -Flip

From: Martin Magpie Ppl change their minds, opinons change. Commercialism? I could care less, it does not affect what I do in SL. However the connection between flip and Satchmo is very clear, of course flip is supportive. Of course it's wrong for a ResMod to use the forums for their own personal gain. So far however I don't see that my posts vanished for speaking my mind about the placement of this announcement. So all is well enough so far. Not everyone thinks commercialism is the next best thing, lets at least try to pretend that those ppl's opinions also count. Instead of discounting anyone ok. Do I think commercialism is fantastic for SL? Nope. Look how the bush guy used his billboards as a weapon. Not commercial? Well he just happened to be selling his land at the same time.
anti -Christ, thats a little over the top.
Cat You're still ducking the fact that you said a ResMod was posting for his personal gain. Since Flip posted and HE IS NOT A RESMOD... your facts are WRONG. Arguments based on incorrect facts are spurious from the get go. Congrats for being added to my very short ignore list. I can't take anymore of this pap.

From: Surreal Farber Congrats for being added to my very short ignore list. I can't take anymore of this pap. Well said, and added to my similarly brief list well over a week ago that includes only one other and their affiliated alts. Can not tell you how much more pleasant the forums are afterwards, just wish folk would either follow suit or at the very least quit quoting them, y'know.... for the sake of the children. ^.^

Now that I've had my first cup of coffee and a toasted bagel....
Is there any site which is listing the major commercial ventures connected to SL?
When I read about things like Electric Sheep I always feel like I'm so lucky to be involved now. I completely anticipate a day when I can say... yes, I was in Second Life back in the day.

There is no uber-list of everyone working with LL (that I know about) who do things like localization and what not , but the Developers Directory is a great place to find the people doing professional content creation. As for something more on topic. Woot The Happening is tonight. I hope to meet people in RL that found out about The Happening via Slashdot and I'll convince them to sign up for SL. I plan on attending the first few events tonight in SL, and then heading down to the R&B Cafe in RL, so I can experience both sides!

Shouldn't this be in advertizing. Not "your posts in these very forums that Indigo was going to mean big business advertising in SL" Please quote where I said anything negative directly to Electric sheep and now, Indigo. I didn't. Again my only real point here was that this thread was in the wrong topic area of the fourms. I agreed with others points but I didn't say anything negative about these companies directly. So please stop making up things that were not said or directly implied. Cat

From: Martin Magpie So guys tell me what kinds of non profits will benefit from your work in sl? Cat Here is a list of beneficiaries for tonights event. In the past we have worked with UAPLearning, helping them develop there virtual world's strategies and we are in the process of deciding what is the best way for us to contribute to this years SL Relay for Life. We are interested more broadly in working with and helping non-profits and as a company have an upcoming meeting to discuss how to do just that. We are still a young, small startup with each of us working well into each night, so a lot of these strategies are still forming but working with charities and non-profits is built into the foundation of our companies values. So tonight we are working to help the non-profits linked above as well as helping to showcase many of D.C.'s independent artists and musicians, but stay tuned because in the future there is more to come.
