ROLLBACK THIS NOW!!!! PEOPLE CAN'T EVEN CONNECT TO SIMULATORS CUZ OF THIS UPDATE!!!! I've made 2 new avi since this update cuz I can't log on my regular avi. And AGAIN tonight I made a new one, crashed...and tried going back..."Cannot connect to a simulator" Atleast you ppl can connect...I have an avatar who holds all my belongings, my land, my SL babies are coming from her and I can't log on her. Something somewhere fawked up bad on LL's part cuz I was able to log into my rl roomie's acct fine from my computer. Adam Linden insisted it's on my end...it's NOT! ROLL THIS DAM UPDATE BACK!!!! *is livid right now*

A full rollback is not possible - it would mean that all content created since Wednesday would be lost and all transactions would be reversed. What is more realistic is for them to roll back some of the code changes to the client - they can update the client without updating the servers, and vice-versa. They need to address these serious flaws right away - it can't take several weeks to work them out in update cycles.

I think some people are using the term rollback to mean "undo the changes to the program" without meaning undo all the building, sales, etc.

One should remember that words mean different things to different people, and try to interpret them in a way that makes sense, instead of asuming they are using the words in the exact sense you attribute to the words when that interpretation doesn't make sense.

In other words people are probably saying rollback without implying returning the sims and everyone's inventories and account balances, etc. to what they were before the upgrade took place.

That's what I mean, at least, yes.

I suppose I could have chosen a better word. Sorry about that. ;)

I tried this and it doesn't seem to cause any trouble.

It's true, a friend of mine just tried it and my couch suddenly vanished and got returned to me because it 'went offworld.'

Verifieded. Anything that can be sat upon can be removed from your property, apparently. Enjoy the update folks. Is anyone still defending LL's methods?

Something that you are sitting on is not an attachment.

The problem was described as:

From: someone
Try editing attachments and hitting undo!
To do it, just edit an attachment, use edit linked parts, move the parent prim, resize it, hit undo twice...

I take it the problem occurs with items you are sitting on rather that ones that are attachments?

Starax,

One potential solution (not a pretty one, alas) is to change the higher prim items to normal with die scripts in them. I'm not happy about this particular change either. :(

Just read Starax's post. THAT's why my furniture just sort of deleted itself after I put it in a temp rezzer. As did my bf's dalek's and spinner.

Re: Die scripts? What do those do? And will it re-rezz our items to show them? Or is that a perma-kill of the item?

Ok..we can all bitch and moan here until the cows come home and leave again and come home after that - but if you really want to try to change the stuff here that is broken start sending in those bug reports. Do a Bug Report on anything you see that not right or is effecting your game/simulation play.

If you loose a prim for no reason - bug report
if your chat colors default to black after you changed them - do a bug report
if you AV jumps because of enter instead of chatting - do a bug report

Do it every day - even if it is the same bug you reported yesterday.

It ia good direct way to LL to see how bad things are and don't count on these forums to be useful to LL - I don't think they will read this anyways.

There is another forum called:
'Current Version Feature Feedback'
Post in that forum all ur suggestions and remarks but do it nicely so it can be viewed seriously.

Something also happened with llGetNotecardLine, such that erroneous results are being returned for me. Could just be me, but Thraxis' offline builder importer for my tool is now totally hosed, quite likely by the script problems.

So building offline is no longer an option until someone hacks together the import side again. :(

For clarification, this means greifers can descend on anyone's land they want to and wipe the property completely clean. Is anyone awake at LL today? Is anyone EVER awake at LL?

No, the attachment is what triggers it. You can sit on something, sit target or not, and make it vanish. Anything. Wipe anything you want off the face of the grid.

I started another thread about it - it is too important to be buried in this one.

Of course. Some acknowledgement of the issues and a little transparency about what they intend to do to fix them would go a LONG way towards dissolving some of the angry dissatisfaction. Bueller...?[/QUOTE]

<BEGIN RANT>

FIXING !! That's too strong a word, LL dont know how to fix, more like working out what to totally fubar next.

Seriously I think it's more like verifiying the exploit for themselves, rather than actually fixing it right now. I mean at LL its 2:30am sunday morning, do you really think they'll have a sober grid monkey/ programmer competant enough to fix it without screwing up something else available at this time?

Can't help myself, but as a former gruntled SWG player...

This update is looking more at the stunt pulled at SWG last november (2005)... But totally not as bad (yet)...

SWG-ians have found a phrase for it (which even made it into online dictonaries):

"pulling a Smed"

So, I guess LL pulled a Smed!

Let me see....

Broken teleports half the time..broken scripts...crashing client....textures not rezzing...disappearring prims....undisclosed griefing exploits that apparently were known about...and lots of new bells adn whistles that don't work right and actually make thigs a biger mes that people did not ask for while linden didn't bother fixing bugs that have been around for over a year...yep..it's another brilliant SL client upgrade. Rolling it back would be easy. Doesn't take a genius to figure out how to do that, but then I forget once again my lack of a college diploma hanging on my wall saying I read a book and wrote a thesis or two means my 20+ years experience means I allegedly don't know what I am talking about. HOweve one thing we can all agree on...1.11 is a total disaster and in no way shape or form should linden consider upgrading to 1.12 until things get fixed, and a rollback should be done with 1.11 geting trashed until properly tested under ful stres for a more reasonable amount of time than just a couple weeks.

As far as asking for any info or reading announcements for a straight answer or asking live help...well..how to say this nicely. I had a rather exciteable daschund when I was a young chld who didn't hump my leg near as much.

I haven't posted much on this board lately and actually have not spent much time in-world as I used to. However, recently I've come back and I'm really beginning to question why. Back in the day I used to whine after nearly every update about how the Lindens know little, if anything, about the methodology associated with application development. I realize back then that I was more or less just venting although I would have been fired long ago if any of the applications I was responsible for were rolled out the way this crew does it.

I am really amazed to see that they appear to have learned nothing from earlier mistakes. The amount of downtime necessary to correct their never-ending string of errors is a disgrace. This is no longer the dawn of the Information Age. Paying customers should not have to endure this crap.

You all have covered the major points so I won't waste space by rehashing. But, I'm with those that say 'roll back'.

Not Alone....
07-23-2006 03:24
Looks like I am in good company when saying I HATE this version... I have had so many problems since the update.

Things missing from my SLB & SLX boxes really put a damper on things for me. Then the Texture picker would give me all black instead of blank....not to mention I would freeze and crash just looking in my textures.
But something I have not seen mentioned is that all the text & effect color choices have reverted to black when I log in. (Chat, system, objects, effect and error messages) is this happening to anyone else too? Or is there a simple fix for this? The reply to my bug report for this was a blank email, boy that was a lot help ...NOT!
After reading some posts I think I will try uninstalling and reinstalling....joy joy

but I agree I can't use the snapshot feature........worthless give us back the old way LL .
