New Trend of GROUP Banning

It's 9:35PM do you know where your thread locking lindens are? I think the problem has been handled. I meen like 20 or so abuse reports must have been filed during the attack. :/

i don't stand to win or lose from the problem any more then the others in this topic. I'm just going based on information by a trustworthy person i know. I'm simply protecting a sim from a group that was cought griefing. I treat all griefers the same. They come in thinking it's cool to piss people off, but they don't exactly get the results they expected.

I can't help being a little sympathetic. Not because I believe or disbelieve any accusations, but because, unfortunately, your method of 'defending' yourself or your friends from accusation started out on a decidedly confrontational tone - more akin to a 'Oh yeah? You got nothin' on me!' rather than a 'I'm sorry, but I really didn't do it.' As for my opinion on whether or not these accusations are well-founded, I choose not to express it.

Perhaps you are merely having a natural indignant reaction to the blackening of your name across several sims, but regardless, the manner in which you argue your case is not effective. By this I mean ridicule, sniping, flippant comebacks and general insensitivity to the parties involved and to those with opposing viewpoints. In my opinion, a large proportion of the frequent posters to these forums are in fact intelligent and nominally reasonable.

I really wasn't being unreasonable, but people apparently feel I was, and have stated so many times. So everything that could be said, has been said. No need for constant repetition.

This thread is rather troubling. I read through and see one guy being crucified by multiple posters, all without any apparent benefit of any evidence against the guy being crucified. I never thought I'd praise the maturity level of posters on the World of Warcraft forums, but at least there they refuse to convict without evidence.

The "guilty until proven innocent" attitude exemplified by this thread and other threads on these forums is hugely disturbing. I see someone being told to "grow up" for having said something as audacious as "where's your proof?"

I'm not even going to weigh in on whether or not banning a group for the actions of one or two members is or isn't a good or ethical idea. I think there is no absolute answer to that and that the ethics of such a decision depend on the situation. There's nuance there.

But there is no nuance to the collaborative tarring-and-feathering of a single person who has been accused of grievious crimes without even a shred of evidence. That is simply disturbing, and I am only more disturbed by the apparent lack of any voices siding with the accused. I do not know if the accused is a good person or not. I make no such assumptions. But a community that sees nothing wrong with going after one person, mob-with-torches style, on the basis of pure hearsay...I can make assumptions about such a community, and they are not happy assumptions.

Helpful Forum Hint: If you don't want to be crucified, don't bring your own cross and nails. Also, try to avoid the Jesus Christ pose.
