I sure don't like the sound of that trend. After reading about this and other posts talking about this, I don't have the desire to join ANY group if there's even the slightest chance I'm going to be banned from areas because of things I wasn't even involved in. That's just not cool. If some musicians did something terrible, does it mean that all musicians will? Should people stop being musicians because of some bad apples?

The idea of banning an entire group based off the actions of a handful of people just doesn't seem right.

Maybe we should judge the entire U.S. army because of the actions of some crazy messed up individuals? Jane Fonda in the late 60's anyone?

This isn't that new of a thing. Groups have the option to hide their membership. A certain hat-related group has kept their membership secret for a long time so that the civic minded amongst them don't get alienated from the entire grid.

Gambit Killian was reported by the owner of a fur valley sim as leading a grief against them using the group known as CAKE. Sorry to say this but when you grief, you get banned. The Furry sims share each others banned names most the time (not sure about FN) so its best to not do that if you wish to resume your visits. if you need more information please contact Angel Fluffy, who owns the griefed sim. kthxbye

I wouldn't ordinarily want to judge people by the actions of others, which is why I won't usually do things like ban newbies without info or automatically assume guilt by membership in a group.

BUT...

I do think I'm justified in recently doing exactly that.
I find an entire stall set up in my mall by someone who has not bothered to actually rent the stall. She instead took a photograph of my wall and used the texture (badly done) to try to cover up the rental box. I IMed her, told her why I was returning her stuff and banned her, got no response back.
Later I log in to a message from someone saying he's her boyfriend and trying to tell me she did rent the box and it just wouldn't shrink away as it was supposed to so I owe her the money. He tried to say she paid for 12 weeks on a 100prim stall. I found her stuff in a 25 prim stall and there was no record in my transaction history that she had paid anything and I tested the box myself just to double check and it worked fine. I tell him this and he starts his response with "Listen b**ch.." I muted and banned.
An hour later I'm working in my store and suddenly I get pushed half way across the sim and there are explosions going off.
I fly back to find some guy now directing his bombs at the stores all around mine too.
I eject and ban.
Starting to get suspicious, I check all three profiles and guess what... all members of the same group and calling themselves family. So, I banned every name in that group (seven total) and haven't had a problem since. *knock on wood*
Like I said, I felt I was justified.

It is a fact of life that sometimes you are judged by your associations. If your friends are losers, whether you are or not doesn't matter, you will be assumed to be a loser simply by association. It's not fair but if you don't like it, find better friends.

Like i said before the proof is with the fur valely admins, log files, and abuse reports.

Show me proof, and I'd definately consider, but since no accuser has shown any solid proof of anything, they're just slandering the names of people who haven't been proven guilty.

Give me a break, this group contains nine people. If it contained 100 or even 50 I might have some sympathy, but nine people? Sorry to be the one to break it to you, but life *is* harder when you keep company with lusers, and with a group of nice it's *definitely* fair to judge the people who weren't there by the company they choose to keep.

There were bombs present from two people, I can't name the other person but they were a member of your group as well, as far as I know you two are banned, not the entire group.

We turned off scripts and res premission and cleaned up... you were at fault, or someone hijacked your account and started griefing...

I'm 23, and the reason there's a court of law, and the reason that LL ignores most of you, is because you NEED proof. Without it I could point my finger and say YOU are a griefer.

I can replace the names in any of these griefer threads with YOUR name, instantly to morons, you are now guilty.

The majority of these threads are just people trying to start drama, I can see most of you must be bored, because there's no reason for all this finger pointing. If I really did these things, I would've been banned from the game by now. I didn't, and that's why nothing is going to happen.

You do realize no "proof" is needed beyond a Linden checking the logs to see if you did indeed rez such objects and do as has been reported, yes? Your demand for "proof" needs to be made to a Linden, as they are the ones holding the "proof".

This is not a court of law. This is a commmunity. Gain a bad name in a community and you are outta luck. "Proof" is never required for one friend to tell another friend "This guy did XYZ, I suggest banning him." And they are perfectly within their right to do so. Best way to avoid this sort of bad word of mouth is to not do something that might cause someone to be upset enough to spread the bad word of mouth to friends.

If you are indeed being wrongly accused, as you claim, I suggest you take the issue up with a Linden to clear your name through an investigation of the logs, as they are the ones who hold the "proof".

Well there you go, thats the point. FRIENDS... you are judged by the company you keep.

If this is the way so many people feel, why should anyone feel comfortable joining ANY group if ONE person from a group can ruin it for everyone else?
