These four sims have been on different versions to each other since purchasing them in December. this last week has been murder trying to get someone to "Linden" up and resolve the linking issues this causes. But the manual updates have been exacerbating this issue by not getting them all sinced up on the same version first. Finally last night all were on the 1.25 version. Just now we got kicked again This makes 5 server shuffles in 24 hours, leaving us on a Beta version?
Really?

No messages of complaint since Prospero's comment that the pilot restart is complete... Does this mean it's working okay? (i'm at work, cant look at it first hand just yet)

I'd say it means nothing's b0rked so obviously that somebody's already tested it on both server versions, filed a JIRA and squawked about it here. I mean, it's not like I expect big problems. But it takes a while for stuff to surface. That's why there's a pilot roll.

The changes from last week's pilot roll are relatively small. They include fixes of things found then, and some other fixes designed to reduce the load on the central database.

The sim I manage is completely borked since the roll out of 1.25.4 this morning . Its been starting over and over and over again all morning long. Which is a huge hassle considering the work I have to get done and the sim restarting and booting me off with no warning til it greys and says 'The sim you are standing on is going down' '(View IM & Chat) (Quit)'.... Any ideas as to why the sim is restarting repeatedly? The sim was updated to 1.25.3 last week and updated this morning to 1.25.4...

Are you expecting LL to help without knowing the name of the sim?

From: Meade Paravane Er.. Are you expecting LL to help without knowing the name of the sim? Not really, its not a sim only issue it has to do with the rolling restart, just figured they should know what its doing to sims.

I think if it was happening to a large portion of the sims that got upgraded, Prospero probably would have noticed. Which sim is restarting over and over?

1.25.4 Central Server deploy
01-21-2009 10:58
My regions are still on 1.24.10 but I'm finding that objects are "loading" the group to which they are set. Is this a conflict between 1.24.10 on the region and 1.25.4 on the Central Servers? It can cause problems with group radios operating properly and with editing objects. Curious and trying to learn more . . .
Thanks & Peace, Keo
[edit] Regions are Anahola Beach, Kahiki, Kanaloa Marketplace and Vulcania Fine Art

I did see the same thing in a 1.24 region, but don't see it in 1.25 regions. So, if this is a 1.24/1.25 interaction problem, it will go away over the next two days during the rolling restart.
UPDATE : I'm not seeing it any more. It may be a transient problem.
If you're having problems with performance in your sim, then please contact support. We're not seeing anything very broad and widespread, so we're not aware of anything systematic in 1.25.

I think the first response was for me . . . if so, thanks, Prospero . . . Katric Linden is on one of the regions now, so thanks for that as well, if he is indeed checking on the group "loading" thing . . . . will wait a couple of days for the rolling restarts to 1.25.4 to complete before going the ticket/jira route . . . Peace, Keo

OT: Close ... but missing something
01-21-2009 15:30
I have been in SL a long time now, and that ad does convey the general idea of a server rollout. I think the most glaring omission was a sea of faceless primates all flinging their ... ahem ... "opinions" at the workers as they work, in true primate style. Now add to that: they were only building *the plane* -- the passenger has to build and upholster their own seat themselves, hope someone on board knows how to build booze and food, and maybe bring $5 for the jet fuel tip jar. I also expected to see the crew come along mid-flight and declare the passengers seats "homesteads" then up-charge everyone for bringing too much carryon, even though it wasn't an issue at takeoff. Of course, a more apt image overall could simply be dropping a piano from the top of a building. The only difference here is that we will all watch in horror... but hang around watching the Lindens put the pieces back into the shape of a piano again afterwards... before they haul it up for the next drop. Actually on-topic: I saw one weird hiccup, reported here earlier... I got a "server down, you are logged off" box. Tried to relog home, and was shuffled somewhere else. Eventually got all 10 toes back in the grid, and found that both places I got dropped and bumped from *stayed* 1.24.x. Weird, but survived no sweat. Head scratcher. Sure the support phones lit up like fireworks, though.

When we do the full roll tomorrow, it turns out we're going to need to do the pilot regions again; sorry guys :/ Just a small switch needs to be flipped, but unfortunately it's a switch flip that needs a region restart.
While the rolling restart is going, I'll be hanging out at my Linden Village office (see my picks to find it). Drop by to get your limited edition 1.25 rolling-restart commemorative Linden bear!

Can we assume from this post, Prospero, that the rolling restart will remain scheduled for tomorrow morning regardless of the emergency maintenance which is also happening tomorrow morning?

Yes -- we are coordinating with the emergency maintenance, which will complete (and we'll be sure it's done) before we start the rolling restart.

"Either way this is not good for business. Amazon claim that just an extra one tenth of a second on their response times will cost them 1% in sales. Google said they noticed that just a half a second increase in latency caused traffic to drop by a fifth." http://www.julianbrowne.com/article/viewer/brewers-cap-theoremThe above article makes very interesting reading and applies to SL's current woes - business owners in SL (which includes LL who run the joint) really hurt with every technical issue.
