When I read the grid status reports for the past week the same problem(s) appear to be repeated over and over and over. Last weekend was a return to the old style Second Life. I note that in the past there were more detailed explanations of what was happening when service was interrupted or limited than "database issues". Prospero states that the roll-out of the new server version has code to reduce the load on the database "in hopes of making things better" before the weekend starts. It would be great if the new version contains more than just "hopes". Is it not possible to increase the capacity of the database rather than just reduce the load? Here's hoping Propero's hopes are realized. And a big thumbs up for the techs that kept patching things together over the weekend. If you need a fresh supply of baling twine, let me know. Cheers.

That depends...how much testing did you do on the beta grid? ![]() Seems to me 1.25 has been banged around pretty good. It's only taken so long because Mono got to go first. !.25 has been rolled out and reverted numerous times always with something that was not or could not be discovered on the beta grid. Now we are getting a quickly patched version of an obviously troubled version rolled out before the weekend with little time to test or even see if a problem developes with the pilot rollout. Somehow I don't see how any beta grid testing is going to change that. I also have to assume from the tone of your reply that you have done extensive testing on the beta grid, yet still problems got rolled to the live grid. _____________________

!.25 has been rolled out and reverted numerous times always with something that was not or could not be discovered on the beta grid. Considering how many fixes are in 1.25 that were backed up behind Mono/1.24 (probably the biggest factor in making 1.25 a "troubled release" ![]() And I gather that the serious difference between 1.25.3 and 1.25.4 is a patch to a bug which I kinda suspect exists in 1.24 also. And restoring a patch to a previously fixed touch bug that regressed out, but certainly didn't cause a rollback the first time it happened. I also have to assume from the tone of your reply that you have done extensive testing on the beta grid, yet still problems got rolled to the live grid. Well, I didn't personally test any dragon avatars or a certain darling's server-crash bug, if that's what you mean. I *have* been involved in a fair amount of testing various content on 1.25 on Aditi, including identifying broken content that *only* fails on Aditi regardless of what server release is up. But if by "extensive" you mean "extensive enough to guarantee no problems when 1.25.x hits Agni, I'd say, "no, I have not tested that extensively, and I doubt such testing coverage is actually possible" I won't say 1.25 is bug free, because we know it isn't. 1.24 isn't either. But I assume from *your* tone that you've tested your dance poles on some version of 1.25? ![]() |

Do rolling restarts help to return lost objects that have vanished from inventories?

Cool, and if RC6 of the viewer comes out before the weekend and solves the redownload problem, this weekend should be MUCH better than last weekend. Edit: whoa, a plague of typos. I'm sure that means "1.25.4". Or is this really intended to be a "rofl-out"? Im currently using the RC for the main grid , and sadly it hasnt helped the texture DL problem, still crashing about every 60 min or when I select a new texture. mind you I can stay in other worlds all night. so this problem still exists. PS Argent I love yours and Moos ships. |

I've been trying to log in for almost a half hour now. At first, it was due to an unexpected problem. Now it says that logins have been disabled... Any idea when I'll be able to log in?

Rolling restarts aren't scheduled to start for another 3 hours. What are they doing? pre-cooling the hard drives (LOL) or what?

Looks to me like alls fecked up again. As usually the grid waits for a momentous announcement from SL (in this case the invasion of XstreetSL and Onrez by Linden lab rats) before going tits up.... remarkable....... *Packs bags and decamps to an afternoon with the TV* |
