You were supposed to remain on the Teen Grid for your own good. Still you did not. Blaming Lindenlab to compensate for your own actions and guilt in this is no use. Can't wash your hands in a pool of innocence here. Yet I doubt you are being prosecuted or monitored for real.

You even went so far as to FAKE your age to get into the main grid instead of the teen grid, and if there was no teen-grid then you FAKED CREDIT CARD INFO in the pre-6/6/06 "open registration" days.

The unfortunate reality is that game addiction/imaginary reality addiction, of young people is very real. Even if young people are not as sensitve as the OP, by spending so much time in an artificial reality instead of putting all their time in developing in college and/or a career, in RL, it can really damage their life. Parents are often clueless as to what is happening. This is just reality. Some young people really are so impressionable and with emotional issues and SL could be a escape from their painful real life and become entirely addicting.

A responsible company should be considering these things, because it is ethical to do so.

The OP could be dedicating him/herself to education and then gain the knowledge, skill and financial resources to make his/her own Open Sim, if the attraction to the 3D virtual reality is so strong.

So to the OP, go to school, get some degrees and make a better alternate reality and if you are really tormented, then you should study some psychology, get counseling as well and figure yourself out.

At any rate, imaginary reality is a fool's paradise, if one's actual reality is out of control.

Guess that's what he gets for lying about his age. Sorry, no pity here. Any blame that could have possibly been heaped on LL was totally absolved when he clicked the "Yes! I am 18 years of age or older!" button on the signup page.

This is kind of a convenient excuse.

Since the inception of the internet, the "Agree I am 18," became the usual protocol--very convenient, for the content providers ($$$,) to disclaim any responsibility in the matter. But we all know it does not work and is entirely phoney. Similarly the "Age Verification," can easily be circumvented as it has been set up.

So, based on this reality, if an adult has virtual sex with a underage person or sells sex objects---KNOWING that the age verification is so easily circumvented, then who is REALLY responsible?

My guess, is that the Op has been computer addicted for along time and may be very isolated in Real Life and has found social relationships in SL and feel that these relationships were directly being threatened--which is why he/she feels so threatened and discriminated against.

People can poo-poo the whole issue, but it is a major social concern and just using convenient excuses does not get to the heart of what is a very complex issue in the new cyberspace-addicted world---especially as the Virtual Reality Era becomes more widespread.

LL IS THE EVIL and they eat babies and make kittens and puppies dance in toe shoes til their paws bleed in order to entertain them while they sit on the deck drinking iced tea. They wouldn't give me a cookie, even though I lied about my age (would you withhold a cookie from an alleged 5-year-old suffering from a hormonal condition that makes him bearded and six feet tall?! Heartless bastiges!), and also they dig up bodies in order to trim the toenails and paint them pretty colors. I swear it's true. One of their investors is the fourth incarnation of Rasputin and cannot be killed and the entire SL grid is a plot to taint our precious bodily fluids so that they can enslave us to the Elf Queen. Not the good Elf Queen . . . the other Elf Queen, the one that throws her trash on the ground next to the garbage can in the McDonald's parking lot. She is true evil, and so is Linden Lab, and so is Second Life. Philip Linden shot me in the toe with a pea shooter and Robin Linden controls the invisible Winged Monkeys that do so-called "autoreturns." And I WILL speak out and I WILL be heard and I WILL stay right here hanging around their evil place of business and posting on their forums and consuming their evil product until the end of time, or until the drugs wear off.

Sorry, Rebecca, but I think the OP is trolling for laughs. Even if they were not, perhaps the disbelieving responses here would clue them in that it's time for a reality check.

Regardless, the original post is like a great big flaming ridiculous turd in the middle of the forums we read for news and entertainment. I don't come here to read someone's ranty ill wishes directed at someone else's kids. I've been online long enough not to be wound up by something like that, but if this were a different sort of forum and if I had less work to do today it'd be a great excuse to dive in and start flaming away.

Maybe you could start a thread about how to judge a healthy balance of time online and off, or maybe about the long-term relationship of teens to SL, or something like that. That's exactly what this forum is for. But all this thread has going for it is humor value and maybe a flamewar -- it's the sort of thing that got other parts of these message boards shut down.

Either make it funny and try to file some of the edge off it, or don't post in it, or else it's going to be locked. Every locked thread adds a little weight to the argument for shutting down the forums.

The OP is not just trolling for a laugh. It's real. I've run into people in SL with this exact same issue and although it's easy to ridicule, part of being in a large virtual world, just like real life, is seeing how it takes many kinds of people to make up a world and if someone is wise, they shouldn't ridicule people who are having issues that are hard to relate to--especially when they are displaying so much hurt and anger and combustibility, no matter how absurd it may sound.

If you are driving and someone runs up to you with his intestines falling out, you don't laugh and say how funny he looks and how he shouldn't have stepped in front of a car. You get him to the doctor, even if it's a pain in the ass and totally inconvenient.

Or if someone is talking about classroom violence or expressing borderline suicidal ideation. you don't push their buttons further, till they crack. It doesn't hurt to have some mercy, the world could use some more of it.

Mircea, you have two basic problems:

1. You blame everybody else for your problems. YOU were the one who broke the rules. Why should we, or LL, feel guilty about it? Everything that happened to you, and your feelings about it, are YOUR fault, and nobody else's.

2. You are, in a word, nuts. You have a very distorted world view. A number of people have suggested that you seek professional counseling, and I agree with them. Until you can learn to think in something at least a little bit like a straight line, you are going to keep tying yourself in knots.

I'm sorry to be so harsh, but really dear, you need a good swift kick more than anything else.

I think his parents need to do their damn job, and take his twisted little butt out back of the woodpile for a few good ass beatings. Better them than someone else in RL who gets tired of his BS and takes a baseball bat to him.

I'm pretty stunned by this thread, to be honest. The OP entered a world where they were already informed they weren't allowed, and then blames LL for discrimination based on their age. So, first they were discriminated against (in the prior thread posted in September) and now they were "raped" by Linden Lab and are unable to look at porn pictures because they are now scarred for life because of this "rape". I'm sorry....but I have no sympathy for the OP. Is it a computer addiction? Hmmmm, maybe it is, but it's also wrong to toss around words like "rape" when I'm quite sure the OP has absolutely no friggin clue on being raped. I don't either, but out of respect for those who do, would never, ever throw that term around lightly. No one forced the OP onto the adult grid....it was a decision s/he made on their own. And then talked about "horrible" conditions in the US. Um, yeah....because we prefer not to expose our children to adult situations too soon. OMG! Whatever happened to just being a kid, before entering the adult world, FFS? However, if one wishes to enter the adult world at a young age, they should also be prepared to take responsibility like an adult, and blame their own problems on themselves.
