Strange... most people are very nice to me. Maybe there's something wrong with the way you present yourself, Danielle Harrop. Try being nice to people, usually works for me.

Yes, but so are the Brits, the Dutch, the Germans and so on ... Apparently it's all down to fast food. Now, who should we blame for that? Americans, of course. They make us eat too much crap food:)

Wait till they start exporting cheese in a can!

cheese in a can, wine in a box and meat by products, yummeh :D

There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

At least you don't still fry with lard. ;)

I soooo need coffee.

Oh you want to bet? Chip shops still do.

Mind you, finding one which isn't also full of kebabs is a hard task these days. So that's two things I'd never eat!

To paraphrase Aesop....

Look around you. If you're surrounded by crows, chances are you're part of the same murder.

I just wanted an excuse to say murder (which in this context is what one calls a "flock" of crows)

To the OP, I understand if you felt left out, I own a club, and I also DJ there sometimes, it;s very hard to greet everyone specifically if it gets busy, thus, the auto greeter..if you felt left out, honestly just go jump in the crowd and start greeting ppl yourself. Being a "wall flower" is hard, but being a DJ with a swarm of ppl is hard, also..NOT defending the DJ, becuz what he said was rude, myself, I'd never done that.

I heard it was the Three Wise Men that they really gave up on. ;)

Well, that was an added complication.
The Three Wise Men were recruited in the Orient and were programmed to follow a star. However, cloud cover in rainy Ireland could have made navigation difficult.

That could have been overcome. The worst that might have happened would have been that Christmas might have to be delayed until well into January or February. - or maybe even a bit later if the wise men settled down to party in a pub when the weather was bad.

Nope! The main problem was the virgin thing.

OK I'm going to defend Danielle here, mainly because I've seen the conversation, and I also know something you don't.

She is American. Therefore when she asked the question, she was making an observation about her own countryfolk.

And yes I suppose we've all been there and posted in the heat of the moment.

Anyway, I think we all need to take a big chill pill and move on :). Life is far too short..

I thought she was American anyway.

I still have the offer of a hug inworld if she wants to. And I will go look at her store just as soon as SL lets me go anywhere other than home!

I've wandered all over the place and found the vast majority of people I have come across to be really nice and helpful. Have been to places where I stood in the corner not knowing what to do next and have had lots of people shout hi. I have not expected a conversaton as most have been giving it big shakes on the dance floor.

I'm still getting shoved from pillar to post mind, but on the advice received in here, I just sit down :D

All in all, I'm having a great time :)

Sorry, the OP isn't, but I find if you treat people the way you would like to be treated, it works like a dream.

Rage and rudeness stem from deep-seated feelings of unhappiness and insecurity.
The amount of rage and rudeness exhibited by a person is a barometer of how much they perceive their life to suck bigtime in ways that they feel are beyond their control.

Unprovoked rudeness is a pre-emptive defence mechanism used by the inadequate.
They have a fantasy that rudeness projects strength.

It's not confined to Americans.
If a particular country develops a bum rep, then it might or might not indicate a society in which people feel the equivalent of low-level road rage most of the time.

Rude people are best avoided. Their lives suck, and they want to make your life suck too.

Wow - i think that is best advice I have heard all year! Very well put Sling ! Personally I am a bit tired of these anti-American or anti-anyone threads, even if disguuised by a bunch of other "issues".

The thing that sets SL apart from most online experiences is that it does not matter where people are from, but if you do meet people from another country/culture you have the opportunity to learn about them, see things from many perspectives, etc. SL is a JOY because of this.

Well I kinda assumed she was, judging by the time she posted her comment - just kidding :) To be honest, we all have a bit of rudeness stored in all of us, and there have been moments when I've dearly needed and wanted to rant - I just haven't, yet... When I do, feel free to gang up on me and put me in my place heheh
Danielle, have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Missed the part where the DJ later told a friend..."I banned someone who was complaining---probably an American"

It is crazy to me that the OP cant see that most of the responses to her post were not being rude to her at all. Most of you showed her empathy even though each time she replied alittle more of what happened was added to her story. How are we supposed to give good reasponses when we are not given all the facts. And yet the OP jumps on most of the people playing the "your rude card". A good example is from her post I thought she was not an American only later find out she is.

Lets say that the OP was right that the DJ was USA based because of the time. Her assumption that he was an American still doesnt work because there are alot of people liveing in the USA that are from other countries. So unless you actually know the person in RL you cant just say you know for sure what nationality the person is.

And if she Imed the DJ with half the additude she has displayed here then it is understandable why the DJ didnt want to be bothered. He probably knew that it wouldnt have ended well anyway and wanted to save time and frustration for both of them so he let his finger do the clicking, muted and banned.

and another question, why are Americans so rude and hateful to every one

Try being an American ( I read you are) living in most of Europe. France was the worst, Italy a close second, Greece and Turkey were up there. Holland was the complete opposite.
England was OK for the most part. Australia rocked just because it's Australia, what a great place with great people.

I prefer the US over every country I've been to...and I've been to most all in the northern hemisphere. Not that any are not worth the visit, they all have some great people and great places.

So the point is, everyplace has it's good and it's bad yet there is never a place as good as home...of course unless you're from Texas...j/k ;)
