My SL avatar doesn't have the same pricetag as my RL self....we're i probably wouldn't indulge in similar RL activities.

Plus it doesn't mean any activity. I'd run 90 traffic bots on my land if it guaranteed 10,000 USD a month in sales, but i would not sell land and then reclaim it from hapless residents for the same money.

The truth is, I have no shame here. IRL, I might have to live with the consequences of a bad reputation. Have a silly picture on your Facebook? Have a silly picture on someone *else's* Facebook? It can cost you your job.

Here? Oh, I might lose my SL business if I were to get a bad reputation. But really, there just aren't the same sorts of consequences perceived bad behavior has IRL.

So, I am left with my shamelessness. But I like it that way. Shamelessness reveals what ethics I have are internalized, and which are just the result of external threats. I don't cheat and steal because those are values that are important to me, not because I'm afraid that people on the forums will say "That lousy <name deleted> who sells horses in Caledon, she's a no good cheat!"

I can't be bought...unless of course it's for 1 million linden a month For that, my reputation can hang, it's not RL. There are, however, some things I would not do, even on SL, for any amount of money. If it meant hurting someone for example, stealing from someone, griefing someone, etc...I wouldn't do it. But if it only involves me and the person paying me, then um yea I'm down.

I ditched Anshe as my business partner for a reason.

A million a month would sort out my financial woes, and that would be seriously tempting. I have some good friends here; almost as good as RL friends. It'd be very tough to do something that made them disappointed in me, but RL demands would probably send me to the dark side. Twenty million over two months would be about as good.

Aww don't worry about it, we're in a credit crunch and as long as it wasn't anything illegal I'd go down the same path, now if you're engaged in illegal activity I'd have to give you the frowning of a lifetime, I'd also recommend you watch Midnight Express

I will not lie, cheat, or steal to make money, ever, no matter how much money it is. (So extortion, no, never.)

However, if it's just something trashy or sleazy- but doesn't involving lying, cheating, or stealing- heck, the price is pretty low. (Adfarming is just ugly, right? As long as I can skirt LL rules, no lying/cheating/stealing involved?) It depends on how much time I have to spend on it. $10,000,000 L/month if I have to spend 8 hours a day on it. If I could get by with 1 or 2 hours a day, I might go as low as $100,000 L/month (not bad spare-time pocket change).

My reputation can be sold, at low costs as long as it doesn't affect my other money-making opportunities. But doing something wrong to someone, that's the part that isn't for sale.
