Say you found the key to success in SL. All the $L you would ever want, to cash out into real money, indefinitely. But it means your main character would have to become an < adfarmer | extortionist | whatever > ... fill in the most shameful, hated thing you personally can think of. What's the sellout price of your main avatar's reputation? Something to think about.

What's the sellout price of your main avatar's reputation? Something to think about. About $2,000 a month. I can always make alts, right? If no alts allowed... $4,000 a month. Essentially, enough to comfortably support my RL via SL. If that's not what I'm using it for, then it's for pleasure, and I'd prefer to keep what reputation I have intact. All numbers quoted in USD. (Voted as L$100,00, but intended to vote L$1,000,000, as this is in between my two quoted values.)

I may not be cheap, but I'm definitely not expensive
This is a limited-time offer

My avatar's reputation is worthless. My own sense of decency is everything.

From: Key MacMoragh What good would SL be if no one would talk to you? Oh, it would be purely monetary at that point. As per the payouts indicated in the poll.

As per the payouts indicated in the poll. to answer seriously, i could go the monetary direction quite easily. but i don't know my price. i'd be more likely to forsake it all for love over money, but again - i don't know how high the stakes would have to be to make that leap.

There is that George Bernard Shaw anecdote:
Sitting beside an attractive woman He: Would you sleep with me for 1000 Pounds? She: (eventually) Yes He: Would you sleep with me for 1 pound? She: What sort of woman do you take me for? He: We have already established that Madam. Now we are simply haggling over the price.

I can't answer your question because reputation is not what's important to me. My integrity comes from my own personal internal sense of right and wrong, not from whatever others might think of me. There is no possible reward, be it monetary, material, or otherwise, so great that it would cause me to violate my own ethics.
If my behavior in accordance with that philosophy happens to earn me a reputation as laudable, that's a nice bonus. But whether it does or it doesn't has nothing to do with what makes me a person of integrity in the first place.

Remove my word 'reputation'; reword the question such that it is regarding whatever *you* would find to be most shameful here. Even if no one else found it so. Good point!

For L$10,000,000 a month hell yeah I'd be throwing virtual widows and orphans out on the street.
L$10,000,000 is more than like fifty bucks, right? What's the exchange rate on that?

L$10,000,000 is more than like fifty bucks, right? What's the exchange rate on that? 38,610 USD In fact... L$1 = Less than $0.01 USD L$10 = 4 cents L$100 = 39 cents L$1000 = $3.87 USD L$10,000 = $38.62 USD L$100,000 = $386.11 USD L$1,000,000 = $3861.01 USD L$10,000,000 = $38,610.04 USD Estimated according to 'Buy L$' page. (For others who want to use USD as reference.. I know, it's basically just x10 every time, but...iono. Just wanted to do em all for some reason)

I answered that my reputation is priceless, but maybe shouldn't have, bacause to me it's not about reputation or morals, etc ... Second Life is my hobby ... The desk I'm sitting at now is my money ... The Houston nite life, dating scene, is my social life ... And never the twain shall meet!

Well after reading again, serious answer. As I don't care what other's think of me, I would have to be okay with it myself. No amount of money in the world, would make it easy to live with myself after doing something I truly despised. Though in SL context,I can't see anything that would really fall under that category.

My reputation and morals are pretty important to me... but I think I could justify it as just a game and be shameless if it meant a significant improvement in my RL. That is not nice, but it is honest. So, yes even if it meant selling copyrighted art. If I coud make a significant amount of RL cash I might do it.
