I am really sorry that some people people in the forum feel the term was applied to them just because they are taller than us shorter avatars. It was never meant like that.
Too many folks take too much of what is said in the forums personally - IMO anyway. Everyone really needs to lighten up and learn to not ASSUME things and definitely not assume that a statement is a dig without some real solid evidence that it really is.

And that my fellow forumite friends would be called "being an adult".

:)

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen Immy with so much fabric before.

I mean, I'm not complaining at all, it's just such a change, like if the ZZ Top guys shaved off their beards.

I don't think any default look LL starts you with would be considered too tall. In fact, if anything, they are very much on the small side, or what you would consider normal I think. :) If anyone has a tall shape, it's 100% by choice.

Not really.

People see the newbie shape for a newbie shape, so they go to a free shop, and grab something, and walk out a frankenbarbie thinking they've avoided newbism...
- Nowhere in there did they really figure out what was going on with shapes.

I recently tried all the stock newbie female shapes in the library while making a dress to see if the size would work in the prim skirt. Those shapes are very strange with heads too big, arms too short, height is not really an issue, the faces and eye placement seem very strange too. i.e. female clubber.

Bottom line is new folks need direction and patience to create their own look and they are not getting it on Help Island.

Most do not even have music enabled so when they go green-dot hopping and see many folks dancing, without their music turned on, they must think "OMG what a strange bunch!!" We ask if they can hear the music ok and 90% respond, "What Music?"

We then give them notecards with screen shots about enabling music, media, voice and how to change your appearance. We offer links to NCI and Levels and try to do some one-on-one helping if the event is over. Maybe the NEW USER experience roll-out will help.. whenever that is. *shrugs*

It took me a couple weeks to figure out how all the people in clubs were dancing.

/dance and /me dance kept doing pretty much nothing, and I couldn't find poseballs on the dance floors of most clubs... :D

Been a while since I tried on the newbie shape - so I don't remember exactly how bad it was.

Ultra thin.
Tiny micro-head.
7+ feet tall.
Super huge boobs.
Momma-long-legs spider legs.
No hips (thinner than a boy here).
No Butt (thinner than a boy here).
Broad man-shoulders.
Tiny feet.
Ultra pale skin.
Usually blond, sometimes red or brown hair.
Heels.
Micro mini skirt.
AO that keeps fluffing the hair and bending over.
(hee hee, my AO fusses a lot too though... :D )

- if that "package" fits your avatar, and its about the whole, not the parts, I don't care if you find me slamming you offensive, you've 'failed' at avatar design.

.

A lot of "men-becoming-women" go this route. It's their masturbation ideal prolly. So they can be a woman and have fun watching her become a sex object for a man. And their not doing this to strike a blow for feminism.

No head coz they dont want a woman who thinks for herself.
Tall to climb on.
I think we all can guess why the boobs are blimpy bazongas. They really want to suckle mummy again.
Long legs is that male desire for a mare to ride on and it takes the eye to the bum.
No hips (I think this refers to no belly or abdomen) signifying no wish to be responsibile for a pregnancy and a desire for a permanent state of sexual arousal in the woman.
No butt - usually it is billiard ball solid or looks totally "jump on noard".
Man shoulders means that men can't draw - or never take a look at women's shoulders - or Lindens haven't had a look either.
Tiny feet - reference traditional Chinese woman.
Pale skin - the Caucasian skin is still "supremo" - I am coffee-coloured and you should hear what men say to me when I am in sl and at "play". Some words are NOT worth repeating. And the attitude towards a non-white female is often "mastery of the slave or noble savage".
Blond or red hair - need I say more? - although red hair is often regarded as dangerous and hence exciting.
Heels - yeah, right! Yes, we all wear kinky-boots high heels ALL of the time. Havent you seen us in Sainsbury's?
Micro-mini skirt - Reference the Vagina Monologues and the "mini skirt speech"
Fluffing the hair and bending over - all women do that, don't they? That is all I do all day just to look decent and desirable. Fluff my hair (like John Ingram when he was dressed up in panto as the dame) and I am constantly bending over. I can't help it. It's that "come get me boys" thing women have.

I just plonk along with my normal size - I even try to get my tummy right. I think I look good in sl and no one has complained yet in-world OR in real.

Check out my "take" on this barbie issue just above. Many of these Venus-in-Rubber women do so much damage for women in the REAL world.

Feminism needs a home in sl!!!!

I would venture that one of the things as makes our Cartelles (new word!) so attractive is their refusal to conform to what's expected of an object.

No, they weren't, not according to everything I've read and heard. They grew them before their second album, and it's really hard to find pictures of them from before then.

why can't people just live, and let live?

I don't care what some other person's avatar looks like, the only one I care about is mine. And I don't care if everyone or anyone dislikes my avatar, because the only one who should like it, is me.

I might be too short for some, too tall for others, too thin, too fat, too dark, too light, not enough coverage, too much coverage, my shoes might not match my belt, or I might not even be wearing a belt.... bottom line.... who freaking cares!!!

Amazing how much people get bent out of shape over an avatar... it is just an avatar, don't like it... don't look.

Sometimes looking into a mirror.. scares us, so we look at others and decide we don't like what we see, because we are too afraid to look in the mirror

Yeah, you should see me at 6 in the morning - razor cuts don't "sleep well". I look like the "fretful porpentine".
