I actually think it's a funny term. My only beef in the other thread was the hypocrisy of whining about being stereotyped and bashed while doing the same thing to all the giants out there. This wasn't any one particular person.

There is really only one fix for this horrible situation. We should all band together and convince LL to change the avatar mesh to something much more appropriate.

Those of you who never peek in on the undying thread may have missed Frankenbarbie Pep (I assure you there was a very good reason). Pity I didn't get a good shot of his long legs! Since we're doing photos, enjoy:

Pep is on the left, random in the middle, and I'm on the right (the bust line is due to the dress, I swear).

I also found the term "frankenbarbie" hilarious and quite accurate of so many avatars in SL. Now my avi is fairly large chested but so is the person at the keyboard but I've tried to keep all other proportions as realistic as possible. So I guess my avi could be called a want-to-be but I’m certainly not offended in the least. ;)

Heh. That cute little furry avatar I posted in the kid thread was sold as a "chibi fox". It'd be cool if I could make it look more like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6foaPGOe_c

I think the term "Frankenbarbie" is hilariously descriptive. That said, I also think that there is no way an avatar *should* look. Let everyone look how they want, or however they have time for.

One of the best ways I've found to meet people in SL is to praise something about their avatar. What on earth would it GET me to be judgmental about how other avatars look? How would that contribute to my enjoyment of SL? All it would do is prevent me from having pleasant interactions.

One girl wanted to dance in the clubs so bad but she idnt have the cash for skins and boobs let alone outfits. Shes seemed really dedicated. and after a bit of time i took her shopping. I bought her redgrave skins (900L, I bought her top of the line implants (1300L) Boots (450+) hairs (500+) eyes and lashes and more.

Implants?

In SL?

You've got to be kidding. To look like a freak like your AV? Sorry... pass...

Yes - you probably are the target of this frankenbarbie thing - that's just too bad for you. With those grotesque things you're walking around with - you're a joke. Its no improvement to anyone's AV to be subjected to adding those things on.

There are a lot of people who have AVs I find unappealing that I won't call out over, and its very rare for me to openly call out a specific person, its just not how I like to be - but yours just exemplifies an extreme caricature of the problem. Boobs like those basketballs you're sporting are the last thing someone wanting to hit the club scene should get.

heres a pic of me in my current state.
I think I look fine as well as many others do.

Whoever told you that you look fine, was lying. You look ridiculous, and it's a shame cause the rest of you is very pretty.

At least these girls (rock of love) are LIVING LIFE, not sitting watching it pass them by. I too live my life. Its great. Sure its had its ups and downs but the continued hating and more hating on this subject just shows all the insecurities and self loathing some of you have bottled up inside you.

You have every opportunity to be exciting yet, even as you are. No ones telling you you cant do a little enhancing as well. It doesnt even have to be surgery, which I am more than happy to say Ive had and will continue to get as i get older. It can be a simple as Hair and nails. New attitude and maybe some botox if its needed.

Uhm. I lived the life Ciera. I drove a Porsche 911 Turbo, had my condo in Brentwood, went to parties in Bel-Air, met lots of athletes, several stars, yadda yadda. Big deal, it was a lame life it crashed and burned, i am happy it did. But i will post what i said on SC here about what pissed me off:

From: Briana Dawson;19473
Well the fact is that some of what she said is true - even if it is not her life.

I went through a period of my life when i was 19 where i was stupid enough to stay with someone who would have affairs with people like Ciera claims to be and sport team cheerleaders often. Very often. And i had to keep my mouth shut because saying "i know you were with that Laker girl" meant getting my ass kicked.

When i read the callous tone in her claims it just brings me back to the time where i was around a lot of people who thought like that, did things like that, and were pretty much cared for by the married men they were seeing.

Yea it is the fault of the guys, no doubt, but beasts like Ciera enable that crap and it pisses me off regardless because to people with her mentality, it doesn't matter if the man is married, if he is spending his mortgage on her, or his wifes anniversary present money on her, all that matters in her artificial world.

Yea i have a serious hatred for home wreckers who are proud of it, and extreme dislike for those type of women that LOVE to make other women 'hate them' and get off on that.

I was 19, i was well kept in money, a nice car, bruised face, swollen lips, black eyes - he was married with a family in a different state, i was stupid. I learned. Maybe i was a home wrecker too, i don't know. I know i swore i would never let myself be in a situation like that again, and I haven't. And i swore i would not be some shallow California dumb girl clinging to men to take care of me, so i joined the navy.

I've seen girls like Ciera in my bed. with my man, while i watched hidden in a closet the size of many peoples bedrooms and got my ass kicked for it afterward.

That tramp can go to hell.

=====================

So sorry Ciera, you are not the only person to have lived a life. Unfortunately you are proud of being a home wrecker and sleeping with 3000+ men. Whatever.

I am not going to harass you or follow you around in the forum criticizing you and bringing your name because it is the wrong thing to do and has been done to me before, so i know that i can be a pretty hurtful thing.

Just stop it with your gross assumptions of glitz and glamor and acting like people don't have a life because i still have way more experiences in those 3 years of my life that i have never posted and most people won't ever have in their life time - big deal.

I am a close to being a shut in now, and i sure as hell do not mind it.

The real question is, why not just let people do what they're gonna do? I go from 7'6" dude to giant rat to 2 story tall robot to dragon, and nobody ever gives me a hard time. Should be the same for tall or short avatars.

My desire is to make sure people don't get stuck in frankenbarbie shapes because they don't know any different. Give newbies a choice - put something within normal human proportions out there - so that at least the ones who choose to look like freaks did so knowing it was not within the dimensions SL set out for height and not within the possible range of human anatomy.

The current state would be as if every female that logged into SL got stuck in a ferret furry avatar, and thought that was normal. Sure, some might want to be ferrets, and have a ferret community - but they should do so knowing they are using ferret avatars and that a ferret is not a human.

They have choices, don't they? Look in your library now. I think it's the "girl next door" newbie outfit? Short by SL standards, weight proportional to height. What's all the to-do about?

Volunteering to give someone a makeover who thinks they already look fine prolly just brings them down. Handing them kits that instruct them on how to get RL proportions just results in a lot of clones walking around who are scared to use the sliders.

*shrugs* I think anyone who wants to be the SL fashion police should start a blog.

I am really sorry that some people people in the forum feel the term was applied to them just because they are taller than us shorter avatars. It was never meant like that.

Apology accepted.

I don't think any default look LL starts you with would be considered too tall. In fact, if anything, they are very much on the small side, or what you would consider normal I think. :) If anyone has a tall shape, it's 100% by choice.

To the Topic: I believe that the FrankenFurters =FrankenKens will demand equal time and their own thread ;)
