I have realized in another thread that some people are getting upset at this term being used so broadly now and feel that its use in the forums may include them. Well that is not how i meant it when i first coined the term. I was watching Rock of Love 2, it was the first episode and Brett was taking them to a concert - well, all his little gross bags, went shuffling outside in their tiny little miniskirts and 10 inch heels, and all i could think was: Wow look at those Barbies all made up like that and barely able to walk! They are shuffling out of the building like Frankenstein or something! When applied to SL, i said it to to refer to people that are specifically "Rock of Love" tramp material or in SL - those 8ft barbies, with huge boobs, blinged out stiletto's, hoochie hair, etc. In no way have i ever meant the term to mean the people in these forums, but the caricature like form of many of the female avatars one runs into at any given club in SL. They are freakishly tall and barbied out - i.e.: put together like some virtual Frankenstein Barbie. I really would not like to see the term used to refer to ALL tall people because it is rather derogatory in its meaning and is supposed to refer to the unwashed 8ft tall masses that we all know are usually men - who else would piece together these super sized, horribly dressed, no gravity, over sized-boob having, stick figure females?? Now let's be nice and play together... Ok, maybe not nice but we can still play! I am really sorry that some people people in the forum feel the term was applied to them just because they are taller than us shorter avatars. It was never meant like that.

I know how ya meant it - and I see it used other places (by other people) too, like the WtF flickr captions.
Fwiw I don't feel like the one who felt tagged by the term is in that category at all, and I'm thinking you wouldn't include them in it either.
I'm picturing someone 8 feet tall, with a figure like Barbie on steroids, and horrible taste in clothes. Fwiw, that's what I picture. Someone with proportions that do not seem to go together, i.e. patched together like Frankenstein.

When I think Frankenbarbies I think this: Ultra thin. Tiny micro-head. 7+ feet tall. Super huge boobs. Momma-long-legs spider legs. No hips (thinner than a boy here). No Butt (thinner than a boy here). Broad man-shoulders. Tiny feet. Ultra pale skin. Usually blond, sometimes red or brown hair. Heels. Micro mini skirt. AO that keeps fluffing the hair and bending over. (hee hee, my AO fusses a lot too though... ) - if that "package" fits your avatar, and its about the whole, not the parts, I don't care if you find me slamming you offensive, you've 'failed' at avatar design. As for tall - I still expect a 'tall' AV to be 'short' by the standards of a good half of SL female avatars... Even 6' would come out short. The thing about busting beyond normal proportions is that a lot of animations will break on you. Anything done with motion capture will result in flawed joints - which means you will dance funny. You might not notice it, unless you actually do a motion captured dance on a proper proportioned AV... but there it is... The base 'mesh' of the SL avatar and the 'joint parameters' of its 'bones' are set assuming heights that have become uncommon in SL, but they are the 'human heights - not those of Frankenbarbies. - You can stretch and morph the mesh beyond the assumed positions for the joints, but only so far before it can't move properly anymore if the animation comes from a human source. A lot of these avatars look more grotesque than anything else. As for Frankenbarbies coming from men, I disagree on that. Scan through deviantart and elfwood for a while and you find a lot of tween and teen girls draw in a style that resembles a frankenbarbie. Most of my friends drew like that when we were 14... some still did when we were 20.

'Frankenbarbies' is one of the funniest terms I read in a long time. It still makes me laugh when I see it used in a post. Besides we're all Barbie and Kens to an extent - or Chip 'n' Dales as the case may be.

I am really sorry that some people people in the forum feel the term was applied to them just because they are taller than us shorter avatars. It was never meant like that. At least these girls (rock of love) are LIVING LIFE, not sitting watching it pass them by. I too live my life. Its great. Sure its had its ups and downs but the continued hating and more hating on this subject just shows all the insecurities and self loathing some of you have bottled up inside you. You have every opportunity to be exciting yet, even as you are. No ones telling you you cant do a little enhancing as well. It doesnt even have to be surgery, which I am more than happy to say Ive had and will continue to get as i get older. It can be a simple as Hair and nails. New attitude and maybe some botox if its needed. But don't keep attacking those you have a personal agenda against and try in turn to drag every other person who doesnt fit your little perfect world, your idea of a perfect tiny size down with you. I've tried making myself 5-6/7ish in SL, its too tiny. its a fact. I am set now at 6-5 and its perfect for me and im not changing because someone is all upset and feels inadequate. I'd be more than happy to give you pointers to give you a makeover, I'll even give you my doctors name, but this contiuned "we are holier than thou because we are short" has got to end. you look retarded to us. really you do. If SL resizes everything. sure we - I will resize myself down as well. Until such time all you haters can go suck a lemon. I suggest you look inward and see why it is your the way you all are. I've done my inner looking. Im at peace with me. try it youll like it.

Surely it's a matter of personal taste, Ciera.
P.S. nothing wrong with how Briana looks, imo. But why attack her looks and then attack her for (in your opinion) attacking yours?

I met a female friend in SL and although her avatar is attractive it was so tall and had the longest legs I have seen, I always thought it was just wrong. After sometime we joined up on MySpace and I was shocked to discover she had the longest legs I had seen in real life too, she is a real stunner and although her avatar could be described as near to frankenbarbish as possible it does resemble how she looks in RL to a point. Just saying.

I see a lot of people that seem to think its a crusade of sorts. My advice is for everyone who feels down (or is down on themselves but hasnt realized it yet) Life is what you make of it. It really is. heres a pic of me in my current state. I think I look fine as well as many others do. Its when it (shortism) gets to be like a religion, this pushing ones thoughts so hard on others not like you, that it gets really mean... just dont force me/those like me to do it too. Real religion is guilty of this. Some of you have been very very mean to me here and inworld, on groups in pms and more. I know. People tell me. I listen and I hear. You dont think it doesnt hurt a little? I try not o let it but at some point im human too. You have no idea how many wayward avs ive rescued and yes theres many more. But being preachy isnt going to help anything. Yes I too can spot a guy playing a barbie. they are pretty obvious sometimes. But its their playtime. All I can do is take them aside and say 'look, I know, its ok, and im cool with it, but heres how you should have said, done or acted instead of this or that if you want to pull this off." I tell themits ultimately up to them and most are indebted and ever so thankful. I didnt tear them down. I didnt attack them and tell them aweful aweful things. I helped. now, I never spell checked this, Im not even going to reread it as i have other RL stuff to do yet. But I felt this needed addressing. I read other forums i know whats been said and some of you should be ashamed of yourselves. be helpful not hurtful. lifes to short. NOTE: when im using the word YOU in the post it means everyone as a whole not one individual.. okies? just a disclaimer

From: Ciera Spyker how do you figure im naming her? Im not. Well, it's her thread, you quoted her post and began more than one paragraph with "you." If you meant something else, then I apologise. You have a good point, about building up not tearing down. I think what people are referencing are the avs that are just plain tacky. A lot of times the behavior matches, as well. That might be part of people's exasperation and why they do not offer a makeover.

Just saying. Some people get ragged on in RL for being too thin, accused of being anorexic etc when it is in fact genetic and they have appetites surpassing Clydesdales. I come from a family like that where the women remain that way till into their late 30's and then become closer to average but remain on the athletic side. There is noooooo way I would feel comfortable tacking on a huge butt and whomping bazooms, so I get teased for being too thin, too coltish, too etc. You can't please everyone, so why try?

From: Ephraim Kappler Such as running an entrapment scam with your child av for instance? how is not removing scum like that from sl not a help? Theres no debating that. you lose on this one. Im not entrapping anyone. Im "not seeking out". Since this is a legal matter im not discussing it any farther. I told you back months ago i wasnt going to allow for this. If you think im alone in this your quite mistaken. this part of the convo is over. For the record.. Ciera Spyker does NOT repeat Does NOT have a child AV, she will never PLAY a child AV --EVER. (although she might ride a merry go round once or twice)

I used that thread because it was the first one and it had the rock of love girls in it and the frankenbarbie statment. If you had made it, my reply would read exactly the same. now I really really have to go....

The real question is, why not just let people do what they're gonna do? I go from 7'6" dude to giant rat to 2 story tall robot to dragon, and nobody ever gives me a hard time. Should be the same for tall or short avatars.

It's a hilarious term, so brilliantly descriptive, and I didn't know it had originated here. I also squaff at "boobs on a stick".

I thought the term as defined is pretty funny.
Just one thing though - wasn't Barbie kinda small-chested?

Just one thing though - wasn't Barbie kinda small-chested? No - actually someone once related her measurements to real life and said she would topple forward, as well as probably be missing a rib or two due to such a small waist. I think the equiv was something like a 96" bustline.

O Dakota, maybe you missed "pregnancy barbie". Press her back and you got instant boobs. Maybe not really huge or anything, but still there.
