How do you feel about avatars that pretend they are leaving SL and RA but keep posting instead?

"Darling since you're leaving, don't you think it's time to go?" -- Del McCoury

Cut VooDoo some slack - he said he wasnt leaving in the end becuase MANY people had sympathy about his Situation.

If you didnt read what happened but just the highlight reel - then you should read it. And maybe apologize.

If you did read it and know what all happened... Im saddened you are so heartless.

Disagree with what he posted here sure, but leave how he deals with his personal life out of it. Its low.

After studying the responses I feel that everyone who lies about personal facts on the Net should be banned from the internet forever with no questions asked. That should solve the problem.

I agree. Let's just ban the whole thing and get these endless discussions over with once and for all.

It will solve this whole Age verification problem as well.

No internet would be cheaper, too. I could take all the money I spend on broadband and get cable TV instead! I miss my daily indoctrination! I don't even know how to think anymore, I keep hanging out with people who argue and disagree! We can't have that! Not knowing what I'm supposed to do makes me feel insecure! What if I become Wrong because I wasn't following the right leaders? Then I would be Bad and deserve to be punished, like Them! I'm not one of Them, oh no! I'm supposed to be able to lord it over Them and take what I want!

Ban the internets! No one is allowed to speak until the Fundy Thought Committee has licensed and verified them! We're in charge now!

Colette is right. I would like to apologize to VooDoo. My comment was insulting and uncalled for.

Heartless, no. Guilty of poor judgement, yes.

I think everyone knows that proportionately far more female avs in Second Life are controlled by real women than in games like EverQuest and WOW -

But for whatever reason they just dont want to admit it.

Well, it's pretty obvious - SL is full of things that appeal to women and WoW and Everquest are not.

Indeed, I have a number of male friends who gave SL a go, found there was not enough killing orcs, and went back to WoW.

Yes it's the same reason why 50% or more of the sales of The Sims line of computer games were to women.

Because in SL, a male has absolutely zero advantage over a female
- unless the female allows it.

The core of SL is creativity.

SL amplifies everything, so this perceived power-loss is probably a huge issue for some.

I'd say Men are at a DISadvantage in SL, less retailers of quality goods, (unless you count gun merchants) and the main styles offerred to them seem to fit into, vampire, wizard, soldier, robot, cyborg, BDSM....

not to mention that men are more in to ACTION entertainment, while we're more prone to SOCIAL entertainment... and the biggest draw of SL is social... and I've noticed many women who are either stand-offish (occasionally guilty) towards men in SL, or so overtly flirtacious that it's hard for the poor guys to just be social... is it really any wonder with the options available that men would jump the fence and get a little of that social interaction, increased options, and inworld acceptability?

If you start banning men who play female avis, where do you draw the line? Men who play furries, tinies, androids?

Men who play furries will have to show their back hair.
Men who play tinies will have to show their tiny....
Men who play androids will have to show at least three technology devices attached to their belt.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Hmm.

I certainly agree that SL is very empowering for us. It removes that factor of male strength, and that is so liberating.

But I wonder ... do these other games reproduce in the games a power advantage for men over women? I haven't played them, but I think that would be odd in light of the reports than many men playing them seem to choose to play women. My guess is what turns (some) men off to SL is that they prefer games where you shoot and kill things more than many women do.

The other games do require an aggressiveness. Men do have an advantage in that area.

what's the problem?

First of all, Second Life is supposed to be a game. What does the person behind the avatar, whether male or female have to do with anything? Second of all not everyone who has an av of the other gender is gay or transexual or whatever. Many people just want to see what it feels to be someone completely different from what they are used to. If this is our second life, then it is up to each person to choose for themselves what they want to experience. If I can choose to be a fairy, a vampire, an elf, an alien, why not a man? I just don't get it.

That's a bit of a sexist statement, women can do anything :)
Hmm next we will have male & female split divisions of WoW in Player Vs Player Tournements :)
