From: Elanthius Flagstaff How? I guess this is the reason they need the porn ghetto. Let's say I join SL today. How do I prove I'm an adult so I can get out of Disney Land and into the real grid? Either you can take my word for it like porn websites do and I'll just click, yes I was born Jan 1st 1908. Or you can insist on credit card details for literally everyone. If you start limiting access to the real grid based on payment info then you're going to see a massive collapse in the population and a serious over population of Disney World from people who just plain refuse to type credit card details into SL. You have missed the point! Access to both the Adult and the non-Adult continents would be allowed to those who sign up as being over 18, credit card or not, as is the case now. Those who are age verified as under 18 only get access to the non-Adult continent. Pep (Remember, anyone can sign up now as long as they say they are over 18, anyway)

I'm still missing the part of this plan that stops anyone from seeing porn anywhere in SL. The G-team must have a new super weapon they are not telling us about.

They already can at the moment, and they potentially will be able to whatever is done, since accurate age verification outside the USA (or even inside) is not feasible. Pep (Of course this is just a PR damage limitation operation)

From: Argent Stonecutter (...) And always ask everyone (...) "are you a cop". (...). You mean like those adult websites that include in their front page click-though disclaimer "By clicking "YES" you confirm that: (...) * You are not a law enforcement officer"? I agree that asking "are you 18?" is a good idea. But since when will plain-clothes cops tell you that they are cops, even if you ask them? In a worst-case scenario this could be used as proof for you being up to something illegal, because why else would you ask that question...

From: Toy LaFollette Its everyone's SL... you can simply ignore kid avs, you can put them on ignore but we DO have a right to be here accept us or ignore us we really dont care its all about tolerance which is something many dont realize. I tolerate your opinions, do you tolerate mine? just sayin Well, if you do show mutual respect then it may be bearable, though I too am still not really comfy with child avatars. But, I was once being IMed by some other patron (not club personel, just another visitor) during a party at a (no longer existant) club that both I and my pet should dress apropriately right now or leave since there are children present. We weren't naked, not by far. We just dressed in our usual (admittedly skimpy) club attire. And that club was on a "Mature" sim. So, what where you saying about mutual tolerance again? Imaginary or real parents bringing their children to areas clearly marked "adult" and then going on a violent rampge to cleanse those areas from everything that they think might even remotely conceivably cloud their children's precious minds isn't what I would call tolerance.

I find some enjoyable irony in the term "PG-Parental Guidance" being used for "safe" areas, as the lack of Parental Guidance is the reason all this is happening.

I have said this before, but find the use of PG absolutely ridiculous. Pep (Why do I have to ask my parents for guidance?) PS They would actually probably tell me to stay out of sl completely - but then 80+ year olds don't really understand what us young'uns do.

From: Pie Psaltery Altho there is no official word of if/when/why/how the Teen grid will be merged with the Main grid... but it will happen.
This year, next year, whatever. It is the path the Mighty M wants to follow.
It doesn't have to be a move anyone who's currently on the grid right now cares for or finds fair. Ask Early Adopters how LL considered them when making new and improved policies. Ask the people who followed Phillip Rosedale's example and created slot machines for SL.
The Teen grid is currently an expensive ghost town sucking at LL's resources. It is ultimately the most profitable solution for LL to concentrate on running a single grid.
And Profit is King in our Brave New World.
How will they get around all the adult content currently on the grid? One would imagine the same way they dealt with all the gambling. Am I going to stoop to saying "I told you so!" ? Sure, why not. At least we have official word now, huh?

I am speaking of me, I dont have the right to speak for all kid avs... and if a club is in a mature region doesnt make it M automatically, its up to the owner... Generally I dont go to a club if it isnt kid friendly and only for live entertainment so you see I can tolerate everything in SL. I simply avoid grey areas or places Im not welcome at have a nice day

Blondin Linden posted this:
Quote: We will not be making any immediate changes to the Teen Grid. We decided to keep the two issues separate and this is '''not''' the project where we will decide the future of the TG." END QUOTE
in one of those threads over there; I do understand that this is the precurser to bringing teens in, but these are steps they want to take 'first', to segregate whatever they finally define as adult content.
What I'm NOT clear on, is how estates fit in. And, accounts that are now 'no payment on file'. (Essentially non premium accounts)
1) Will non premium accounts still exist?
2) Will estates designated as 'mature' without public adult content be affected?
3)If, when, teens are allowed, will they be allowed into those estates? Heard mention of a 'flag' would that flag be to keep teens out? Still kind of vague on these points......

I refer to what you've said above: "And, accounts that are now 'no payment on file'. (Essentially non premium accounts)" There are a lot of us who have payment information on file but do not have premium accounts - we use payment information in order to purchase Lindens but choose not to pay a monthly premium account fee for one reason or another. I'd also like to know about estates designated as "mature" without public content and whether they will be affected also. If the merge actually does happen, I believe many will exit en-masse as most of we adults who choose to participate in whatever kind of adult activities we choose to participate in will not be of a mind to change how we think or act; therefore, will just choose to pull the plug and take our money elsewhere where there are no children allowed under any circumstances. Many of us from another site have come to SL in order to get away from all of the BS associated with shielding the children from "inappropriate" (rolls eyes) content. We'll just take our money and go somewhere where adults are actually respected as adults and not have to ""babysit"" the children yet once again.

Same here. All "Payment info on file" means is that you have provided LL with a billing source for any inworld purchases. There was also a category, "Payment info used" which meant you actually bought something, but I don't know if that still exists or not.

They don't want to own Mainland so don't have a need to pay for premium. Do you mean Non Payment Info Verified Accounts? It sounds like they will remain as well, they just won't be able to access the dirty parts of SL.

Question regarding the above - Non-Payment Verified Accounts - so in other words, they would make it where those of us who don't have and cannot get bank accounts and credit cards to where we wouldn't be able to access adult areas - even tho we are way, way over the age of becoming an adult? Reason I ask - I'm age verified; like I said, way, way over the age of becoming an adult - i.e., age 55; don't have and can't get a bank account (don't want one either even if we could get one); my old PayPal account is not accurate since it is associated with a debit card we no longer have since we don't have that bank account anymore; and, don't have and can't even get a pre-paid credit card as they require a physical address for mailing purposes and we do not get mail at our home address, only a P.O. Box. That would really bite if that becomes a reality and those of us in the same kind of situation I'm in will leave to find other sites who don't insist on throwing the kids in with the adults and making it even harder to be able to do anything in-world due to stupidity regarding payment information tied to age verification and such.

From: Stormie Windlow but what I do have a problem with is adults logging in with child avatars to be someone's daughter or son..now THAT I do have a problem with...and is allowed by SL.. grown ups "talking and dressing babyish" to me is ermmm...not comfortable. Society seems to be that oppressed and hence obsessed by sex that it sees nothing but sex everywhere. Furries = sex, child avatars = sex. I am worried by people who think about sex just because they see a child av... THAT makes me uncomfortable.

Based on trying to wade through the discussions to get the nuggets, here's what I have been able to find:
Private Estates that are Mature but do not contain anything rated as Adult according to the guidelines (which essentially means public sex, according to what Lindens are saying on the blog) will not be affected at all.
Private sims that DO contain Adult content need to flag it, and then those sims will only be accessible by people who are considered "age verified" by LL.
LL has changed the definition of the "age verified" to mean people who have chosen to go through the already-mentioned and hotly-debated Age Verification process PLUS anyone that has the status of "Payment Info on File", which of course includes Concierge and Premium users.
All of this is totally separate from potential merging of the grids, but it's obviously a necessary pre-cursor to it.

Not to long ago I posted about discrimination in SL because I was banned from a roleplay based on my height.
The justification was height equals age and in a sim full of 9 foot tall avatars any normal sized adult (based on prim height measurements) is seen as a child AV.
Adults of short stature won't be the issue if the grids merge but teens who know all they have to do is make giant sized 9 foot tall blond super model and you'll soon find 12 and 13 year old girl playing sex slaves in Gorean sims without anyone being the wiser while people who don't want that lumpy and stretched out *chiseled or carved with a chainsaw* look being ejected and banned.
It amazes me how brilliant some teens can be and how dumb some adults are. Looking at SL's adult areas and thinking about teen access to SL adult grid just has me thinking "I hope Linden Lab can handle the repercussions".

I sure hope no one is buying into this terrible joke. I also hope everyone has read the original link that did NOT come from a LL website and the rumor was NOT from LL. I also hope that people do not just arbitrarily believe things they read on NON-official SL websites..or any website that is not officially LL.
Not-withstanding, how could anyone believe the purely illogical idea of it at all? It makes no logical sense and thus could only be thought up by a teen.
Get real folks..and don't believe everything you see or hear.

Move or not move ...need this cleared up!!
03-15-2009 16:24
The begining of the blog from the Lindens states those with adult content can stay on the mainland and dont have to move as long as we flag our parcels adult. Then they mention some will move to the new continent like it is voluntary. Does an owner of an adult club have to move to Ursula nor not if the club is properly flagged???
