From: Nuvo Tigerpaw Holy Smokes! I go away for a few days the thread I started turns into a full blown debate. Ban-lines, trespass or no, accusations of racism... WOW! Have you thought of a career as adviser to a US Presidential Candidate? There must be several hundred wanna-be's out there who are really desperate for someone who can start a huge debate about a non-issue

From: Ricardo Harris You're way too deep in mud to try to clean up now. Too little, too late? I said I was done, but I'll respond to this. I stand by my opinions, but apologize for the personal jabs at you. You and I have argued this issue in other threads, and probably will again (since they never seem to go away). I don't think we'll ever see eye to eye on this, but I hope my comments are made in a respectful manner.

From: Nuvo Tigerpaw For those who think "Privacy" is stupid, please post your home locations here and we will be sure to visit you at our our leisure... unannounced. I could even send you snapshots! I haven't gone back and read the entire thread again, but I believe if you do you'll find very few stated it was actually stupid. Most of the complaints are about the methods. As for visiting at your leisure, if you look at my SL profile, and many others, you'll find a TP link to come visit anytime. Relax, enjoy yourself. Make yourself at home. The door on the house is locked, but I know some will use a poseball to get in. I'll call them bastards and tell them to leave. I really should open it up though, since I rarely go inside. Before anyone says it, I'm not debating this is the way it should be for everyone. I realize this is my choice to have it open.

From: Har Fairweather It's been a while since Ricardo Harris posted about his own problems, but he was subjected to very intensive, continual and imaginative persecution for a long time by a very determined neighbor who wanted his property. Since it was out of the way in a corner, he soon learned that any random avatar that came his way was an agent of the land griefer bent on no good. In his case, it was rational to adopt a policy of orbit first and don't bother to ask any questions. The experience has probably given him a more jaundiced view than most of us have. Rather than make him a laughing stock, people might want to consider his extreme case a cautionary tale - people bent on malice usually don't stop of their own accord, they have to be stopped. I agree, that is a big part of the problem. I never used ban lines or security systems until after LL started allowing free unverified alts and the subsequent increase in griefers. After several unpleasant experiences with rude and offensive visitors making themselves at home in our house, invading our privacy, bouncing around naked wearing huge green or flexi penises, poking at us with large green dildos and rezzing more around us, our tolerance dropped to near zero. We began seeing every new visitor as a potential griefer. Even having to take the time to freeze, eject and ban was a disruption to the peaceful habitation of our home. After that we began turning on the ban lines when we wanted privacy and installing a security system in our skybox so we would not have to deal with these distractions.

Bradley,
I missed that, so my apologies. And I agree, its a personal choice. The debate is how, not why. Your comments were taken in the manner given... with respect.
Thanks

Update: I have since changed my skybox (floating house) to a blimp. It has its own security sysyem, radio, privacy windows, etc., and came furnished. So my property is now free of ban lines.
It was neat watching some nosy flier get close to look in and 15 seconds later... ZING... he's outa here! He was warned.

From: Calveen Kline If you're concerned about restricting access to your skybox (not to the property), then get a security orb. Are those the flying lobster traps I see littered all over SL?

From: Strauss Ulderport So your selfish, introverted and perhaps tinged with some egotism. Fair enough, all that needs to be said. I at least respect the fact you don't try to hide your true feelings even if I don't agree. Hey Strauss, when can I move in? I hope you don't have a crappy place. Awww, don't want me in your house? You don't want to be egotistical, selfish and introverted do you? LOL Seriously though, why is it that some people seem so determined to tell people what they can and cannot do on their own property? Maybe they just like telling folks how to live and what to do with their stuff - I think I detect a fan of BIG GOVERNMENT. lol Is it more egotistical for folks to keep to themselves, minding their own business in their own place OR for some fella to come along and tell those folks that they are selfish, introverted and egotistical if they attempt to keep their place private? Of course, I never had reason to complain about people not letting me in. Heh heh. When you look this good - you never have to sleep outside.
