I'm sorry, I have to dissent.

Post #149 is NOT "way past" #125.

Are you kidding? We're only up to post #125!

No, we are way past that.

And we can't use "metric": LL is a 'murrican company, and hasn't yet been "enlightened" to the joys of counting by 10s.

Well, I was responding to Rhonda's, at #146, which arguably is even LESS "way past" than my post, at #149.

This sort of bickering is unseemly in a thread devoted to concord and consensus. I think you should let it drop gracefully. We will simply never agree on this one.

Oh? And what is the base unit of mesurment when buying land?
When the electric company wants to see how much you have used what do they read?
If you and Brenda made plans to see each other at a convention, what would you do when you got together?
If you cut a steak in the shape of the letter before S what would you have?

See?

I rest my case. :p

I don't know, but I'm pretty sure it would involve duct tape . . . by the metre????

i find it funny you assume it's bickering. perhaps to allow you to understand, i'll paraphrase Rhonda's post:

146 is way past 125

which is what makes my statement true.

Did we all agree on something yet?

I kind of got sidetracked on some of the philosophy and the math...

I think we have all agreed that the world is a much better place because of you.

Other than that, nope.

Yes, but no. Yes, we could be wrong about the big crunch. No, things that were broken will not be unbroken. This is true even if we do get a reverse of entropy (which would not happen until the singularity of the big crunch preceeding the next big bang, where all bets are off because theory predicts that theory can't predict much after that -- which is what makes it a singularity.)
If the arrow of time also reverses then broken things will unbreak - surely. The "Red Dwarf" crew found themselves in that period of the universe, so it must be true :)

Yup, I knew you'd enjoy that. Your homework: reread "The Elegant Universe".
I have his (Brian Greene) following book - "The Fabric of the Cosmos" - and it's the best book on the subject that I've read - twice, in fact.

Funny you should say that. I knew a girl once that had this as one of her kinks. That and being devoured whole slowly by a giant snake.

Make the body generate
Make it dance
Switch it on and activate
Take a chance
When you feel the chemistry
Let it go
Automatic memory
Take control
Can you feel what a thrill
When you dance into another world

I think your calculus is rusty.

However, .999... = 1

LOL I have never taken calculus. What I said there was regurtitated information which I may or may not have remembered accurately.
