but I'll agree with the the part about sparking the imagination... and I don't just mean showing the right amount of skin in the right places... I mean actually having a brain, and showing some creativity and class.

and don't get me started on adolescent teehees, or av faces that look like they belong to a 7yo girl

and guys take note, well muscled is all fine and dandy, but too many I've seen look like the hulk on steroids or gay porn stars... tone it down some, image is nothing without the intelligence or self restraint and character to go with it.

What garners attention from the cognoscenti is a well-turned profile; you have to have low standards to want the possibility of cybering an illiterate, however visually interesting the avatar, clothed or unclothed.

Pep (Doesn't normally approach females; being brave enough to make the first move is an indication of potential worth; if you want to be old-fashioned then hang out in whatever is the modern day equivalent of Studio 54 in your disco gear. )

Make sure you address this concern with some women in RL today, as well.

This especially applies to those bare chested, over muscled, short armed, T-rex male avatars with chunky chains on their necks with some huge state on it like NY.

I like to look and feel sexy for me. I'm not going to tone that down for some guy, or even some girl.

Could it be that the skin makers have no direct familiarity with female anatomy? There's only so much someone gets to see while in mom's basement, you know? (^_^)

Of course you and every other person should look whatever way makes you happy. And I would be foolish indeed to be suggesting anybody not be as sexy and appealing as they want to be. My post was aimed at those whose appearance and demeanor might be accidentally making a statement along the lines of "You probably couldn't handle me, so don't waste my time unless you're amazing" and wonder why more guys don't approach them.

I need to make it extra-clear here: there is NOTHING wrong with being sexy and exotic and worldly, or projecting an air of unapproachability, or just being picky. Just be sure that's what you intended

Well, I work to be sexy and approachable. In look, dress, profile, and actions. Works pretty often too.

But I do think I get what you mean, the "too sexy for you" look.

I definitely go in the "extreme-exotic" look. Sexy or not is subjective ~shrug~. In SL i have always been extreme. Even back in [THE YEAR I CANNOT NAME WHEN SL STARTED] i was often told my pierces then were "too extreme" and "ugly". But i just do my own "Suicide Girl" thing. Kat Von D. is my hero!

But I've started hanging out in the same places too often - oddly I've ended up in places where I don't get hit on, much to my frustration, because they have better music or nicer crowds.

Its really pretty simple. Dress nice, look cute, act cute, and have a friendly looking AO. People will say they want sexy all the time, but they'll hit on cute. Sexy gets attention, cute gets put on a poseball.
(My mood and personality changes when I log into SL too - I'm a lot less serious in there. I don't know why, but its really refreshing for me. And I think it really helps my appeal. To be honest, what you're reading in my many posts here is also more serious than my RL self as well... My 'forum self' annoys me...)


On the partner score - halfway through the act with my last guy, he let it slip (no, not that) that he'll be in trouble now...
- Then he started referring to someone as an 'ex that won't go away' and I wondered if I should feel guilty to her, or mad at her...

Though even if I felt guilty towards someone, I'd still also think them a little foolish to expect commitment inside of SL. However, I won't intentionally get myself in between two people in a relationship... (unless well, we're talking about a party for three - I even come with gift wrapping thanks to a recent purchase at Bare Rose ).

Hmmm... Or... they want a bit of exaggeration for emphasis. I was recently looking at something that advertised itself as a way to enhance my cleavage beyond the limits of the built in change appearance tools... I wondered just how they could manage that without stacking prim boobs on me (and I tried a set of those once for laughs - a bouncing boobie demo, OMG was that the silliest thing. They're great for popping out at parties because they look so fake its just... eep, sidetracking)...

So um... yeah... I looked into it, and found they were doing it with a texture map in a tattoo layer (undershirt I guess - I didn't buy it).

People get to thinking they need this stuff to look 'right' - that you need to add a shadow here or a crease there or whatever...
- You can know your own anatomy perfectly well and still be unable to understand how to visualize it or represent it in art...

I think it is this. In art, too, you see this, but it's not out of proportion; somehow staying magically in balance with the whole. Which is why it's an art and not everyone has the talent/eye to achieve this. At which point you see the human-storks and so on.

Of course then again the Frankenbarbies (TM Briana) could just be RL guys with their eyes popping out of their heads watching their own avs, and/or laughing at the guy avs hitting on them.

You started on the right path just by choosing some color in you. Pale is sooo bland.

That's YOUR taste. Why should every female (avatar, anyway) in SL try to gauge her appearance to what you find appealing?

First how can they guess that, and second, why should they? And third, uh, why should they. Lol. What if they don't even like you?
