From: Ishina Xue You need to realise that not everybody takes this coffee break forum as seriously as you do. And that telling everyone how intelligent you are does not automatically mean people agree you are intelligent. In a public arena like this, it’s up to the community to establish the unwritten rules, not some crackpot in his ivory tower, claiming grammar is some valid currency that is valuable enough on its own to give his posts substance and set his stall out as some kind of authority here.
But in all honesty, I don’t think even you believe your own hype. I think you think you are clever when you use the same old lines to sidetrack anyone who challenges the cartoon character you have made yourself into here. I also think you are gonna run with it for a long long time here, and never get bored of dotting peoples I’s and pointing out trivial mistakes - like that paperclip man that pops up in the corner of the screen and who everyone would turn off if they had the option.
Either that or you are just a very persistent troll who got comfy here, but who isn’t hardcore enough to push his luck too hard and face the possibility of getting booted, but who still likes to occasionally peck at people nonetheless, and has a masochistic streak that loves the negative attention he inspires in people.
Or all of those things rolled into one efficient package. The more you post (and the longer those posts get) the more it is apparent that you just don't get it, do you. Pep (Me take this forum seriously? Get a life! )

From: Treasure Ballinger LMAO @ the Paperclip man; haven't seen him in awhile. You could change him into a dog, or a kitteh, or few other things. I must have found a way to turn him off, as he's gone from my life..... Aww I miss him! ... "You appear to be writing a letter - would you like me to f*ck it up for you?"

From: spinster Voom It all depends on priorities ... Some people care more about earning money for material things - holidays, cars, expensive clothes ... others care more about being able to spend time with their family and having a low-stress home life. Being a housewife is not for everybody, but it IS a valid choice - try not to knock it.
Not really knocking it. People my age gotta work (this is serious answer). No real time for boyfriends unless its just friend-type thing and many of us havent a clue about wanting kids. If any have them in my "group" they are single-parents. In our line of work we are MUCH separated by demands of it. So its a free choice but - well, its just one that has to be made. I am not as silly as I make out here. I can't be coz I succeed in what I do - but treating your reply with respect it deserves - I dont really see myself in a nuclear family situation. I DO enjoy material things. I like that freedom money and career bring to me. I know I should think of children but simply can't do so. I can't even look after a goldfish with my schedule of events. My Mum has always worked (shoe designer) and she instilled in me that single-mindedness of employment to succeed and support oneself. One thing I think is so important is that its doesnt matter what one does as a job there is no shame in doing it. My friend (a girl who has had much tragedy in her short life) has just graduated from bartending school today coz she wants anything that will help her if times in "our" chosen field get rough and I am really happy for her. Lol, I go on. Better stop, coz this is really Pep's thread.

Get a life! ) Tut Tut - you should take it seriously coz we are real people just like you. Your only problem is you are cocky. It's not right to sneer. Real people have real feelings Pep. I am sure you have some empathy somewhere in yourself. I bet if your wife - truly - read what you post she would be really mad at you. I am NOT your generation, I know. But we really - across the world - wish for more empathy and generous spirits. Someetimes it fun to take a gentle ribbing but it's seriously not good to mock someone. I was lucky in my education and my life but many posters here NEED this for a bit of fun. You could be a decent bloke if you weren't quite so acerbic. You prolly arent reading this coz I think you muted me - but others will. Let's just stop ratzing on each other cruelly.

He tried that a few times and got his tail badly singed. And so, until those of us with long memories have moved on, he has to make do with being merely irritating.

From: Ishina Xue Here is the dictionary definition:
Pep noun: 1. A captious individual who cannot resist the urge to correct a spelling and/or grammar mistakes even in informal settings. After pointing out the linguistic shortcomings in others, a Pep feels a strange sense of twisted and unconstructive intelligentsia delight.
In reality, they are making someone else feel bad for no reason and unintentionally implying that their "superior" grammar skills are all they have to show for a wasted liberal arts education.
While proper grammar usage is all well and good, a Pep cavils even insignificant errors in English to somehow win an argument. Of course, rather than being genuinely persuasive in an argument, pointing out English errors is a weak attack only on the typist's credibility and never has any bearing on the underlying premises and assertions therein. In other words, this is simply a disguised ad hominem argument which intelligent and logical people disregard.
2. A generic internet sphincter who proofreads dictionaries for fun, also known as a Grammar Nazi. All forums and message boards have at least one of them. Nobody actually likes them, but tend to tolerate them nonetheless out of disinterest in actually trying to reason with them and the dull exchange of irrelevant monologue that will likely ensue afterwards as a result of giving them the attention they crave.
3. Slang: a testis
...............
Shakespeare: What a piece of work is man! How noble in reason! How infinite in faculty!
Pep: Speak in complete sentences, you idiot.
Shakespeare: The ability to communicate both colorfully and effectively is much more admirable then perfect grammar so stop sucking Webster's bell end, you Grammar Nazi. Outstanding response! Thank you from a lurker who knows a dick when he sees one but is too lazy to put it into proper prose as you have! I'm going to bookmark your reply to refer to whenever I feel the need to actually engage this arrogant jerk.

I've made my posts here (see just above) and I am getting sad about what is a sad thread. I tried to even change subject. Let's leave Pep alone. He's got his issues. We have ours. I feel sorry for him. It's so ... hmmm no proper words come to my mind. But its just not right to prod and poke viciously. And Pep I am not standing up for you - I just think these last few weeks of forum can be more fun than being piss-artists with each other.

I do get it. You are a condescending, smarmy, smartass chiseller with alarmingly deficient social skills for someone so supposedly bright. What else is there to get? Don't tell me you are gonna run with the whole service to mankind routine. I don‘t think anyone is really gonna believe that, no matter how many times you claim it. You are just a weak troll with only the grammar card in his repertoire, already overplayed.

I've just never much cared about material things, that's all. I am certainly not having a pop at your lifestyle - people are just different, and that's a good thing . One thing I would say, though: don't ever have children just because you feel you "should" - only have children if you really, REALLY want them. Apart from anything else, they will dribble all over your hard-earned material things Sorry for the hijack, Pep, I'll duck out of your vanity thread now.

From: Deira Llanfair You're doing ok Benski - I was only trying to remind Pep that whatever level your English is at - it is a darn sight better than his or my Dutch!
After all - if you are learning a foreign language and you wait until you are grammatically perfect before you speak or write, then you will never open your mouth or put hands to the keyboard! ... and isn't SL a great place to improve your language skills? I can't even begin to judge your skills in Dutch on those few words, but I appreceate the effort. People don't seem to understand that without a basic knowledge of english, you are not getting anywhere on the internet nowadays. I saw your profile inworld and was impressed by the list of languages. I asume therefor you also know that the most difficult part of a foreign language is not reading and understanding, but the translating of your thoughts into a language that is not your own. I read the english words, think of my reply in Dutch, and have to translate it into English when posting. Something that a Native speaker doesn't have to do. And no matter where you go, there are always people that don't appreceate that. Luckely they are a minority. I am not going to leave these forums I am just having too much fun here. And btw, it's not the oppinion of one person that determines the nature of the forums. I'd be bored to death if the forums were littered with Pep's only. (Although he is quite entertaining in this thread hehe) From: Pserendipity Daniels Work on a car? Isn't that what you pay people to do? ) LMAO, Exactly the type of comment I'd expect from someone like you.

From: Deira Llanfair None of that will work - take your self to the seaside and get to the end of a long pier. I agree, the sea is your best friend in these days. Also, I have had hay fever for as long as I remember. The last couple of years I see an decrease however. I did hear you can grow out of it, but at my age wasn't expecting that anymore. But there is hope. It's getting less and less every year with me. I sincerely hope the same will happen to you, Pep.

From: spinster Voom Well, I'm not sure what age has to do with it, unless you think I am of retirement age or something . I've just never much cared about material things, that's all. I am certainly not having a pop at your lifestyle - people are just different, and that's a good thing . I agree about children. I have a close friend and she and I just cant see us being loving mothers even with a bloke who is keen in being a dad. I don't really see marriage as being viable. Truly, I had a FIERCE real discussion with a woman (in her 60s) who protested that ALL people NEED a partner. I was really hard pressed to know what to say. There is a huge age difference between her and me but I was quite amazed at her very retro stance. Happiness is not always a man/woman living in the house and bletching everywhere.

From: Ishina Xue So what happened in this thread besides a couple of sexually frustrated housewives masaging the weird proof reader guy's ego?
Can anyone give me the highlights? Oh - sure. Someone came in here as an alt, and posted a badly spelled, passive aggressive insult as a way of attempting to insult the person who was their actual target. That didn't work, so they moved on to a full on attack. You mean that? (Bonus points for being assumptive and misogynistic!)

From: Brann Georgia He tried that a few times and got his tail badly singed. And so, until those of us with long memories have moved on, he has to make do with being merely irritating. As with my English, my memory is better than yours (perhaps your standard mode of over-emotional over-reacting blurs your recollections?) and I can recall no such instances. If I were less busy I would find Lindal's quote that lightning seems to strike all around me, but never hit me. Pep (Tail? Are you mixing me up with one of those appalling neko types? )
