From: Jig Chippewa We're not really hijacking a hijacker. I agree about children. I have a close friend and she and I just cant see us being loving mothers even with a bloke who is keen in being a dad. I don't really see marriage as being viable. Truly, I had a FIERCE real discussion with a woman (in her 60s) who protested that ALL people NEED a partner. I was really hard pressed to know what to say. There is a huge age difference between her and me but I was quite amazed at her very retro stance. Happiness is not always a man/woman living in the house and bletching everywhere. Absolutely agree, although again, I don't think it's an age thing. In fact, in my experience, it's been the other way round: I see loads of youngsters desperate to fall in love and settle down and many older people telling them to wait, see a bit of life, enjoy their freedom etc. FWIW, I really enjoyed my years of being single, too, including a couple of years as a single parent. If I was suddenly without my partner, I'd miss him terribly, but I wouldn't worry about being single again. @ Benski - I think your English is pretty good. ETA: What is "bletching"? Is it Adult?

From: 3Ring Binder since i was begged to come back here by the Pepman himself, i am cordially obliging. Don't hide your light under a bushel. Admit that this is how you earned your crust before your body went south. Pep (A real life documentary?)

From: Rob Earst Outstanding response! Thank you from a lurker who knows a dick when he sees one but is too lazy to put it into proper prose as you have! I'm going to bookmark your reply to refer to whenever I feel the need to actually engage this arrogant jerk. Welcome alt! Pep (I don't like long engagements; let's elope! )

From: Jig Chippewa I feel sorry for him. Now I am certain you don't get it! Pep (But then, a sense of humour is evidently not a prerequisite for use of these forums. )

I wish *everyone* would avoid the real life insults and keep things to the forum.
But if someone's going to complain about a behavior they only make themselves a hypocrite if they emulate it. Usually what we react against most in others is what we see in ourselves and hate.

From: Ishina Xue I do get it. You are a condescending, smarmy, smartass chiseller with alarmingly deficient social skills for someone so supposedly bright. What else is there to get? Don't tell me you are gonna run with the whole service to mankind routine. I don‘t think anyone is really gonna believe that, no matter how many times you claim it. You are just a weak troll with only the grammar card in his repertoire, already overplayed. A shorter one now to prove you don't get it. Pep (Keep digging! )

From: spinster Voom Sorry for the hijack, Pep, I'll duck out of your vanity thread now. *grins* Pep (It's not my thread - I am merely responding to the question posed; with some authority of course. )

From: 3Ring Binder what's all this talk about hijacking. the OP asked what pep is, and Pep got all puffed up thinking it was about himself and is now trying to call it "his thread" by hijacking it. You might want to read (nearly said reread, but that's probably not the case) the OP's post. Pep (Not my thread, nor have I hijacked it, but if you want to know what I mean then I am the only one that can tell you.)

Well my ex is my ex for entirely different reasons, not because of his shining personality I put up with for many years. It just suddenly hit me though,he reminds me of him so thought I would mention it.

Pep (Not my thread, nor have I hijacked it, but if you want to know what I mean then I am the only one that can tell you.) i know what you mean, dorkus. however, pep and Pep should not be confused. and certainly, even you'll agree, P.S. is not similar to pep nor Pep. you're the one who is all hung up on 'the letter of the law'. does this mean i can call you pep for short? or P.S.?

The OP was as inadequate at reading posts as most here. He asked what pep meant that was typed at the end of a lot of posts here . . . Pep (and of course 'pep' isn't typed on lots of posts here. 'Pep' is. )

"Pep" instead of "pep". OMG, that is another topic entirely! Now we have to start over again from the beginning.

I think I made it up - I do that - it's what men do when they grump at wives and snaggle at dinner table about their "hard-done-by" lives. Then a wife feels all morbid and looks at the gas oven sympathetically.

From: Pserendipity Daniels Avoiding it by running away you mean?
Pep (You are mixing me up with Marje Proops it appears)
Yes, I did run away from school. But I dont really regret it. By the time I was 16 it was getting me down. Marje Proops is the journalist, right? Or love-lost letters editor? I think you've got a heart of gold in that Aztec-Temple interior of yours. Bet your lots of fun at bbqs and at the seaside. Also bet you get all peppery with shop girlz. Gonna say bye now - off to cook a boullabazize.

From: Benski Trenkins I can't even begin to judge your skills in Dutch on those few words, but I appreceate the effort. People don't seem to understand that without a basic knowledge of english, you are not getting anywhere on the internet nowadays.
I saw your profile inworld and was impressed by the list of languages. I asume therefor you also know that the most difficult part of a foreign language is not reading and understanding, but the translating of your thoughts into a language that is not your own.
I read the english words, think of my reply in Dutch, and have to translate it into English when posting. Something that a Native speaker doesn't have to do. And no matter where you go, there are always people that don't appreceate that. Luckely they are a minority.
I've done 3 years of Dutch now, but I want to repeat year 3, even though I passed, because I'm not really on top of it. My SL "cousin", Yavanna Llanfair, is the one who is a talented linguist. Oddly enough she actually is Welsh, as is Pep - lol! I know exactly what you mean - taking your thoughts from one language into another is the challenging thing. Another thing that English speakers do not realise is that the Dutch have taken considerable pains to standardise their spelling - something that just has not happened in English. It can be confusing for the likes of me though, as work colleagues will naturally spell (in Dutch) as they were taught at school - and this for many of them was before the most recent spelling changes. Still - because I'm not Pep's alt or Mrs Pep, I can help you with: * appreciate * English with a capital E * assume * therefore * native with a lower case n * Luckily * THIS IS something that a native.....sentence here was incomplete. * You shouldn't begin a sentence with a conjunction like "And" - just put a dash. If I wrote that amount in Dutch with so few mistakes, I should feel very proud of myself. Well done!

I'm glad you could clear that up Jig. I was wondering if Marje Proops was something new at the Hair Fair.
