My Dad's going to be 80 in a few months. (Hey, I'm the youngest and he started late...OK?!) He got his 1st computer about 4 years ago. He communicates and plays chess with people all over the world, of all ages. He emails me and my brothers constantly, sending us youtube clips and things he finds funny on the net, (please stop, Papa). He's a pretty 'hip' guy but, never does he use slang or u-r-2, etc. He usually writes in English because it's just quicker, but net slang also exists in other languages. It would just be completely weird.

I am also 100% sure he would not have posted in this thread, just sent a copy-paste of the original post to me for a laugh...

Isa, your pops sound uber cool! This is the way to live our elder years. I wish more of my clients where like him.

Side note: my mom, who I've mentioned before is in SL with her best friend (late 60's and early 70's) have now taken to hanging out in the steampunk/goth arena. They both have two of the coolest avis I've seen to date. *shakes head in wonderment*

I for one welcome our new geezer overlords.

Some of them will add a little judgment born of life experience to the SL mix.

In some cases, of course, well, there's no fool like an old fool...which means those folks will fit right in.

Lordy, Ma, listen to how much Grampa's rocking chair is squeaking. He must be in one of them XXXX sex clubs again [Grampa:] She tells me she's 19, and the Doc says sex with a 19-year-old could be fatal. By crackey, I say, I'm prepared for that!...If she dies, she dies! Yee-HA!
