Weren't there vigilante groups before - yonks ago? I remember being asked what I was doing in Amsterdam sim a long time ago, and I actually got scared! I was just standing there looking at the teleporting gentlemen who had come to see the canals. I was all "yes officer" and "No Sir-ing" until I thought to myself "Wait a minute, you silly c*w, this isnt REAL life"! He wanted me to follow him to his police station where he had all manner of interesting interrogation techniques - or so he said. Naturally, I didn't go.

Do you think someone might be taking the piss? ![]() I'm sorry but I can't take seriously the visual of 80+ great-grandmothers driving around SL in police cars with flashing lights! This has GOT to be a wind-up! ![]() Precisely! I don't know why we're giving this attention-seeking OP the time of day. Nothing about the claimed age (see the supposed age of her father and do a little calculation) vs style of writing and expression gels - a person of that generation would have to work very hard to consistently write that much in that style (yes, I've read every single word, and I'm aware of the irony of that, given my opening comment). As already suggested, this is a very wordy troll, yet people are biting again and again. By the way, my post is most definitely about the OP, not to the OP, so I suggest she saves her fingers if she's considering a reply. No way I'll be engaging, nor making another post to this thread! ![]() |

Without saying much, at least one Linden is aware of this thread and her claims, so I'm sure she will be put in her place. I don't think these sort of claims (ie, we are somehow affiliated with the lindens') would be taken lightly.

<snip> many times i have been offered a position of authority...i have always turned it down...for one thing, i would not make a good boss at anything, i am not of that accord....... Then why start this ungodly long punctuation-free rant telling US how YOU think WE should run our SL lives? |

There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

Precisely! *writing this through bleeding eyeballs from trying to read the OP's posts* Agreed Water. In my work I frequently counsel elders, most of whom are grandparents, many are great-granparents. I think maybe less that 1% of them even use email. Most have zero interest in the internet, etc. They just feel intimidated by the technology even though I know all of them are capable of learning if they were so inclined. It's just not something the average elder of that age group is interested in. Furthermore when they write anything, you will never see any "IM speak" and they make an effort to spell correctly. Also, just the sheer LENGTH of the OP's posts - please, most of US can't do that - much less someone in their elder years. I guess I'm saying that I just am not buying the OP is who she is presenting herself to be. I'm feeling the troll vibe here. On a different note: To all of you who took the time to post all the thoughtful and intelligent responses; I'm not friggin worthy. *on knees bowing* I am SO not that evolved. I admire each of you. My Dad's going to be 80 in a few months. (Hey, I'm the youngest and he started late...OK?!) He got his 1st computer about 4 years ago. He communicates and plays chess with people all over the world, of all ages. He emails me and my brothers constantly, sending us youtube clips and things he finds funny on the net, (please stop, Papa). He's a pretty 'hip' guy but, never does he use slang or u-r-2, etc. He usually writes in English because it's just quicker, but net slang also exists in other languages. It would just be completely weird.
I am also 100% sure he would not have posted in this thread, just sent a copy-paste of the original post to me for a laugh... ![]() |
