Indeed.

In Katt's thread, I'd pretty much convinced myself that we need a General Discussion forum. This thread makes me doubt that. There's just no way the official forums should be host to an elaborate drunken role play escapade such as this.

I'd much rather this kind of "stuff" played out in SLU. At least there one could use the appropriate vulgarities to describe it.

A moderator that actually skimmed through the threads here would have caught this one a long time ago.

One of those yesterday was closed by request. The other I suspect was AR'd for being extremely off SL topic.

The problem here is the lack of consistent moderation. Two threads were locked while this one was allowed to become what it has. Even though it should have been locked the moment it started getting personal.

Have just read through with mounting amazement. Have to agree with lack of modding consistency!

The whole thread has got childishly nasty very quickly and, what's more, made worse than it need have been by some additional stoking of the coals.

I have tried to give people the benefit of the doubt and to answer threads polite and to my best ability.

How this thread turned out to be, made me regret that I even bother to try.

The only good thing is that it will be forgotten in 2-3 days.

not if we can derail to the point of outright silliness (beyond the original content silliness). :p

What's with this "thread owner" thing anyway? We get to -own- the threads we start and censor them? That's ridiculous.

Don't let it get to you. For every jerk you respond to, there will be at least three people who appreciate kind help.

And this might not vanish, it might just become like the undead thread.

So basically they aren't reading/skimming the forum but rather responding to reports of bad posts.

it's hard to pass by a car wreck and not look, especially when it's right next to your lane.

Yes, I am amazed at how much some threads have degenerated and fallen into personal attacks lately. And in my opinion, it is quite a few, not just one or two, that have lowered themselves to such.

One thing that many keep forgetting when we see posts of so-and-so said this to me in IM --- nobody can ever prove with absolute certainty (without LL involvement anyway) exactly what was and was not said in an IM (chat/IM logs can be modified). I could easily come here and claim or imply that a specific someone is horrid because they said something harassing in an IM - and I could easily be lying. And the person(s) that I implicate could come back with their own version of what was said in IMs and they can also be lying.

Therefore, if I have known you for a long time and feel that I can trust you, I will probably believe the things you tell me. Otherwise, the only thing I believe completely is what someone actually types here or in PM/IM directly to me. Absolutely everything else is read with a grain of salt.

I like pie.
Pie is good, but I would rather have some cheesecake or maybe some apple crisp - or some nice rich gooey chocolate brownies.

Another vote for brownies here... or failing that, apple strudel and cream.
