Please follow these particles to the object creating them and you will find the griefed parcel. Linden Labs please delete the object to remove the particles and remove all griefing objects to conform with ToC.

Glad you noticed!

Being griefed in excess of 3 months and the owner will not respond is frustrating. If its yours you deserve and account ban and all alts too. If it is not why dont you help out to fix the griefer problem. I am trying to run a business here..

Oh btw, after being really ticked off, thanks to you I am sure.... I calmed down, moved my ad to a better parcel a few doors down and put mine for sale, without the threat. Even I get mad about you irresponsible griefers who think you own mainland. I have to deal with at least 15 of you everyday inworld!

You should be sure of whats what before you post... it changed yesterday already, after I cooled off and had time to return. My prices reflect the monetary amount due to me because of griefers like you.

You should all keep that in mind.

Actually I don't think you are so foolish at all.

Those stats don't really reflect much of anything, and I'm in full agreement with your earlier statement.

I'm one of the rare few that *does* largely register in stats as I take $L only, but you betcha, I've had some 'off the grid' situations that I don't speak a lot about publically (all legit). Anyone who hasn't had some off-grid compensation for something simply hasn't done biz here very long.

Des, could you give us an example? I don't mean an actual one that happened to you, but in general, what sort of off-grid transactions are common?

Are there anymore questions about how it is done. It is not easy, I do not adfarm! It took a year of hard work and diligence to get here, finding 1 adspot at a time.

I think our definitions of "ad farming" must be very different then.

A business of ruining people's views, and selling highly inflated price parcels? How rewarding.

Trust me when I say the grid would be a lot better off if those who cut up land into little bits then stick adverts on them were not here. You may disagree but then again I'm sure if someone bought land near you and did something to it that reduced its value and usefulness you'd be complaining.

It wouldn't be so bad if advertisments were done *properly* instead of spinning full bright cubes up in the air. Roadside billboards at ground level could be a useful addition to some areas but the sort of crud that most ad farmers pollute the environment with we can well do without.

but wait ....

with land being currently priced between 6 - 8psqm asking for anything more than 20L$sqm isnt being upfront and honest is it. 10k for a 16 ,,, I have 16's next to me with prices upto 30k or L$1,875psqm ... not exactly going rate...especially when you did a few rotating adds digging into somebody else parcels showing porn adds or as seen ... they are no more than banner adds for click through effect OR griefing tools to get maximum return. Maybe thier are a few decent folks out there.... they might offer it as a genuine service but most are scummy nastly extorsionists and I for one find it hard to rationalise..... so i just box them in

Funny how my previous post got deleted by the OP... I wonder why?
I don`t think authors have the ability to delete any post other than their own comments.

Griefers like me? Griefers like me?

In the interest of not getting any more personal than this already has, I'll just say that there are different ways of being "successful" in SL, as in RL. If my success engendered such contempt that residents were ARing me and contacting my clients and my professional associations with complaints about my business practices, I'd be inclined to rethink my criteria for "success."

Of course, to be fair, I have other means of funding my vacations.

Hmmm. I never get griefed. And you are griefed all the time. Could that be because the business you are in devalues the land and degrades

One of a few Great Advertisers!

I would urge you all to do your homework.

I do not do spinning ads. I do not do heavily scripted ads. I only put up 3 ads, stationary, no laggy scripts with clients textures and notecards. It doesnt get ...... bah, check the JIRA. I am one that actaully cares about SL, but advertising is my fun and who are any of you to question what I do. I have seen many of your builds, a professioanlly done cube looks nicer, thats the other side of the coin.

I am done here. Just making sure you all got the correct info so that you can skew it out of order for your own trolling benifits..

I got alot of work to do for you Second Lifers to get SL to be a nicer place.... I am gladly working for you.

I'm going to be a little coy about this, but here's an idea.

Grid side: Land, $L, build services, 'agreements', scripting, work as an alt...

Other side: Computers, website work, servers, consulting, RL currency...

For example, the number of people I know who design sims for corporations has just gotten ridiculous lately.

We're talking 10k USD on up, here - to put it mildly. And no, that's not my gig, though it's been on the table a few times. I haven't mastered the art of building something I know would flop spectacularly, and doing it anyway... :)

Thanks, Des. Yes, it looks like "sim designer" could be the "web designer" of the next decade. Only, it'll be a very short-lived profession unless someone finds the key to making a "successful" metaverse presence for RL corporations. I'm not sure whether to hope for that, or dread it.

The existing presences could be more successful if they actually WORKED at it.

I agree but unfortunately the numbers aren't there for them to make it worth really working at it. Reaching way too small an audience. A company could decide they don't care and want to be in on the ground floor and therefore are going to put the effort into making it successful. Most will likely, and are likely waiting til it is worthwhile.

Well, successful can be defined in a number of ways. What if, let's say, Coke decided to sponsor Svarga and Svarga acknowledged Coke for its generosity at various points. Big plus to Coke's image, and awareness that Coke is even IN SL. Landmark to Coke's SL HQ, put some interesting games there, run a few events...You don't necessarily need camping traffic numbers to be successful. But people need to be aware that they are here, and give them reasons to keep coming back.

Do you really seriously expect us to take you seriously after you have rubbished the skills of everyone else in this thread? For all you know, they might simply be posting alts of famous people who build whole sims or regions that have won awards, or been featured in national media. Where are your mentions?

You "work for me" and "improve my second life" by cutting up nice plots of land into worthless spinning ad plots? Who are you trying to kid? Oh, and as the other people have said... you're fired.

I think you have to be honest with yourself before you delve into SL business (just like RL business), do you have the time and discipline to follow through?

If you have the time, knowhow, and skill-set that SL requires, you can create a flourishing businesses. It may take a couple passes before you get it right...but that's what evolution does best--trial and error.

The question is, do you have the time to make it happen? Can you sacrifice that time without pulling the plug on your first life? Can you circle the drain long enough to make the transition?

Discipline and dedication...with a little natural talent, and you can make it so.

The numbers I was referring to were not the number of how many can fit on one Sim. I'm referring to the total number in SL. Even if the 1.5 million number that LL claims logged into SL was accurate, the percentage that would be affected by Coke's sponsorship would be small in even the best of marketing. Considering we all know that if you deduct the number of alts and the number of those who log in, stay a bit and fade away that 1.5 mil number gets dramatically smaller, it just doesn't become effective.

Sure they could work at it and get some exposure, but again, there are so many easier ways for them to get their face out there why would they really bother?
