From: Jesseaitui Petion You`re right. I`m an idiot, last time I looked at the economy stats page I thought it said a few thousand people were making over $5K usd a month, but it turns out I glanced at the "total unique users" number, rather than the line above, which reads only 129 people. I didn`t realize it was so rare. In that case, you are lucky if you`re making $1K usd here. http://secondlife.com/whatis/economy_stats.php i seem to remember recently reading of a possible 'glitch' to gleaning those particular figures, but i can't remember what it was or where i read it. :\ where is my mind? somehow tied to whether or not someone actually cashes out what they make, or perhaps simply resinking their mon back into tier and not getting 'tallied', i think was the gist of it. well anyhow, possibly that 'only 129' make actually be more. i think with the size of the grid, it would really have to be more than that anymore.

There were days where the numbers weren't reporting correctly. That said, you're probably still correct - it doesn't account for all the USD transactions that take place outside the LindeX. How much, I don't know, but by and large, the numbers are still relatively few.

From: Raymond Figtree I would rather close my account than make money the way she does. She lowers the value of every single person's experience in SL and makes our world and uglier place with her business practices. If that is success, I want to be a failure. What Ray said time's 10. It's dirty business and anyone who gives a damn about SL and it's residents won't go near that type of business.

Based on this thread and a ton of IMs I received this afternoon after making some negative comments about adfarms, I suspect we are seeing new adfarmer tactics.
Could they be starting to feel the land pricing pinch?
The one thing the original post in this thread might accomplish is to convince people that do not know any better,to start investing in ad farms. After all if you can sell them for 10k each, you could make a killing by buying them off the existing farmers for only 2,000 to 5,000 each, right???

From: Fluf Fredriksson I had a chat with the lovely T?n?k? G?o?s?e?d recently. Apparently she makes around 300,000 L$ a month in SL! She even gets summer holidays in France off the takings! I'm in complete awe! Can anyone tell me how she does it? Well then she sounds about as 'lovely' as herpies on a prim pecker.

Those stats don't really reflect much of anything, and I'm in full agreement with your earlier statement. I'm one of the rare few that *does* largely register in stats as I take $L only, but you betcha, I've had some 'off the grid' situations that I don't speak a lot about publically (all legit). Anyone who hasn't had some off-grid compensation for something simply hasn't done biz here very long.

This one again. She has one of her adfarms adjacent to my parcel. She priced it at $100,000L after she texture spammed me for two days. Then she removed the price and sent me IMs using obscenities and threatening to sue me if she felt I was blocking her adfarm.
I notice that she is a member of the SLBB and the owner of the SLBB is a member of one her adfarm businesses.

From: Raymond Figtree Sigh. Sorry about that ... One of my bad moments happened there. The OP's credibility here *is* completely toasted. (I don't like AD farms, very, very much!)

Hell, Those 1-900 numbers would be cheeper.....or pay porn sites on the web......or a damn Playboy LOL. ~Jessy Hmm you would probably find it was plenty more than one customer too, a dozen Johns & tips can add up quickly

The OP did an in-depth survey of camping stats vs L$ spent, with lots of maths n stuff. Do you people HONESTLY think that the OP is asking a naive Q about how to earn money via ad farming? Is it, dare I ask, a possibility, that the OP is having a lark and some of us fell for it?

I sense a whole ...Ad Farm stats thing comming...
I do find it amazing though that a lot of people say they earn a million lindens a week etc, Ive know some very success people in SL, people in the top percentile and when i go to their shops etc ... they seem empty yet they SAY they are selling quite a fair bit....

" I know somebody who makes £500 a DAY ..... they sell drugs and steal sweeties off babies" Sure some people may be bluffing. But an empty sim/low traffic count does not equal an empty transaction page. My traffic is really low right now, I`m guessing my sim has been a bit empty, but my sales are pretty much the same as when the sim is crowded and traffic is high. Traffic does not count on how many visitors, it counts by how long people are dwelling there.

This goes against every successful SL business action I have taken to date!
09-26-2007 06:02
This is pure math kiddies so pay attention!
This business makes its money from renting out adspace to clients, not from selling land!
... so with no further Ad do here are the numbers, monthly...
3L$ per adspot x 9 available rentable spots x 1000 adspots (all in different sims) x 30 days = 810, 000 L$ / month (note this is a maximum and not the average tho its happens enough throughout the year)
300K avg - tier - business tools - yearly renewal - land purchases - R&D = 150k avg per month saved. Cashouts happen in June & Decemeber. 150k+ L$ per month gets put into the company alt and saved.
150K L$ x 6 months = 900k / approx 265 = 3396 USD in June and Dec. France, Greece, Germany, Italy... I will take my pick!
Are there anymore questions about how it is done. It is not easy, I do not adfarm! It took a year of hard work and diligence to get here, finding 1 adspot at a time.
Funny how my previous post got deleted by the OP... I wonder why?
