I've created an account, tried logging in and it says no Acc match, sometimes I wish I was more geek inclined.

I've C&P the SL icon on my desk top and changed the name, but can't see how to edit the short cut.

You need a space after the closing quote mark and before the dash.

"C:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe" -loginuri http://freshgrid.hd.free.fr:8002 -loginpage http://freshgrid.hd.free.fr/loginscreen.php

Note that the website's example is defective;it's missing several slashes.

The site's url is not impressive, a subdomain of free.fr.

My acronym comment: TINSTAAFL
It's TANSTAAFL, and it ain't an acronym, as an acronym spells out another word.

The man from UNCLE worked for an acronym, but the bad guy from SMERSH worked for an initialism.

Pep (No, it's not even an abbreviation)

Wrong again! :)

From: Wikipedia
TANSTAAFL is an acronym for the adage "There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch" originating in the 1940s and later popularized by science fiction writer Robert A. Heinlein in his 1966 novel The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress,[1][2] which discusses the problems caused by not considering the eventual outcome of an unbalanced economy. This phrase and book are popular with libertarians and is often seen in economics textbooks. In order to avoid a double negative, the acronym "TINSTAAFL" is sometimes used instead, meaning "There Is No Such Thing As A Free Lunch".

What? Don't like Wikipedia's answer? How about the Dictionary?

From: The Dictionary
Acronym Definition
TINSTAAFL There Is No Such Thing As A Free Lunch

Oh, and just to be sure we're using the same definition of the word "acronym":

From: The Dictionary, Again
ac·ro·nym (kr-nm)
n.
A word formed from the initial letters of a name, such as WAC for Women's Army Corps, or by combining initial letters or parts of a series of words, such as radar for radio detecting and ranging.

Defending a double-negative, even. Tsk tsk, Pep. :p

Your sources merely perpetuate an error, initiated by analists and propagated by those ignorant of Heinlein's sardonic popularisation of the phrase. Your selective definition of acronym confirms my understanding, not yours.

Pep (Don't believe everything you read on the internet)

PS I hope you didn't use the "correct" version of the initialism for fear of being criticised by me! ROFLMAO

Oh, but of course! Multiple definitive sources (on the Internet and not) are wrong and you are right. Gotcha.

Funny that the WORDS that make up the definition contradict yours. Not a particularly stellar case of "I win because I win" logic. Keep trying, though!

No, actually, in your case, in retrospect, it wouldn't matter which one I posted; if I used the "popular" version, you'd be here accusing me of using a double-negative. If I used the one I did, you'd pull some complaint out of your posterior to demonstrate your "superior" grasp of language (*chuckle*). It wouldn't be so bad if you weren't so predictable, but I guess even you realize that. :)

I figured it would probably tweak someone; you just "rose" to the occasion. ;) Congrats!

The definition of an acronym you have quoted says that it is a *word* that is made up of the initial letters of other words - TANSWAT (There ain't no such word as TANSTAAFL) *FAIL*

Really? I don't recall seeing them say "and 'Pep' is right". In fact, they quite handily show, via READING, that you have no clue what you are talking about, but then again, we all already knew that. :)

From: someone

A "word" is "A sound or a combination of sounds, or its representation in writing or printing, that symbolizes and communicates a meaning and may consist of a single morpheme or of a combination of morphemes". That makes TANSTAAFL (or TINSTAAFL) quite handily a "word", since it can be pronounced with "sounds", as "represented in writing or printing". It looks to me like you're wrong again. Sorry, Pep. :(

Next, we'll be looking up to see what the word "is" means, right, Clinton?

So far, only you've managed to demonstrate error. Keep tilting, Quixote; that windmill may yet yield! :D

I wouldn't know; you make such a wonderful patsy for such things that I wouldn't exactly call it "paranoia". More like "entertainment". :)

Yes, actually, I did; you took the bait, hook, line, and sinker. Probably the easiest catch of the day.

If that is all you have to offer in the way of counter argument then I think I shall leave it to other readers to confirm the accuracy of my arguments for themselves.

Pep (Googlefight: TINSTAAFL - 11,300 TANSTAAFL - 561,000. Not even a fair contest.)
