We're all a little shallow. If looks don't matter to you, or if you think it shouldn't matter so much to her/him, then stop going for 'looks'. LOL Great point. |

WOMEN DON'T CARE how you look. Oh, we may sigh over the latest movie superstar or rock musician, but for serious relationships, we really don't give a damn about your looks. We care about other things. Are you gentle? Funny? Kind? Are you a good provider? (Yes, even in today's liberated two-income society, whether a man can bring home his share of the bacon matters). Are you clean? Honest? Brave? Good with kids? Smart?
If you don't believe me, then tell me why so many beautiful women are married to unattractive men? No, I'll tell YOU: We love them for what they are, and who they are, and how they make us feel.
In SL terms, that means that you could wear your default noob avatar and still have a chance with the most glammed-up female avvie prim goddess. Yes, I know there are some girls out there who are so shallow as to think your av's looks matter, but you probably wouldn't enjoy a relationship with that type of person anyway.
I'll also admit, there ARE certain physical types I find attractive...but the minute you open your mouth, all of that goes by the wayside. So don't be shy...go ahead and strike up a conversation. Conversation in MSN just now. Telling my partner about a very funny guy I met. Comes back with a serious face and "But that's how *I* got you!". I'd rather an average looking man, with the attributes I look for, than a "hunk" any day. They're invariably a pain and in love with themselves anyway. Same goes for women I guess, I can never for the life of me see what people see in these "pretty girls" (rl or sl) who clearly are so rotten and nasty inside that I see it on their physical being too.

Well thank you for the forgiveness and your understanding. I never meant to say that all women were shallow. I know men can be shallow too. I also appreciate that you do have a depth of personality and are willing to get to know a man that isn't brad pitt. Part of the reason I'd said what I'd said is because when I go out with my friends to a club or something, and we meet girls - the girls usually don't give one of my buddys the time of day because he isn't very attractive. I've never once seen them react to him favorably and never ever seen an attractive woman talk to him first. He has a great personality, but they don't give him much air time. And, yes, those girls are pro'lly shallow. So I still think that some good looking women go for face first and then dig into the inner soul. What's the kicker is that guy isn't shallow, nor am I, but the other two guys are very shallow - and they get along with these women really well. I've also seen this happen when it's just that guy and myself......I always get talked to more while he nurses his drink. It's sad, but true. I think you non-shallow, good looking type women ought to start a club or something so us guys can find you. =p Sorry for the long post. I know this sounds weird..but i try to look past looks to the extent what god gave you. I dont hold people accountable for eye color and hair color and skin color..genetic flaws or perfections etc. What i DO hold people accountable for are..hygeine..personal taste in clothing..a persons choice in cologne or lack thereof. ((i have a weird pet peeve about men not wearing socks)) alot of times...here we go  ..I try to imagine the canine equivalent to that person...yes yes its strange..but if they turn out being a mangey mutt or an oversized british bulldog i might think twice about going out with them.((this has nothing whatsoever to do with sexual deviance)) ~Lana |
