From: Melita Magic Sounds pretty good, as orbs go. Could you drop a LM on me, just in case I ever need to know? Or someone else asks for a recommendation on orbs? Thanks. Whew...I finally found my first post in this thread back in December. i'm sorry i apparently quit reading the post at that point, Melita, so didn't see your question. I wrote about it again today, but in case you didn't see that, the one I have is by Thomas Conover (it was recommended to me by several people in another thread). If I don't get in world tonight, the lm is in the picks of Thomas Conover. Again, sorry I didn't see your question.

From: Melita Magic True, sometimes alone time is the only way to really decompress.
I wish one's inventory could be sorted offline. Now THAT is worth a JIRA... QFT!!!

From: electroRogue Fizzle When ? back in 2005 when these tools weren't around ? BTW where is your land, Id like to visit to see if you have moved it from 10 seconds to a minute for Argent Sorry there. Ive actually taken it down for a few days. Ill be out of town. But I flew when I started, and occaionally I do now too. My first account is a bit older than this one. The security isn't every parcel relog like some people exagerate.

Anyone who intentionally enter a parcel of all water and flies up to 3000m to search for and try to gain entry to your skybox, when any moron knows most all are private, is a dickhead. It's disrespectful and I am a firm believer in security ..mine is set to eject them from the land and then ban them. Anyone who does that is not an innocent passerby, but a cad, pervert, trespasser. It's happened to me and that person was banned from every parcel in our 4 sims which are all adjacent. People that do this thing at this altitude are griefers. Period. And deserve to be ejected and banned. The only thing, Hank, that is "messing up SL", is the extreme disrespect and rudeness which has become prevalent of late. You have no place to tell me in our sims that we pay for that I do not have the right to privacy from idiots. We keep them public access so all can enjoy them..all those with manners that is. People generally have high altitude sky boxes for a reason..to keep pervs and griefers away..if they purposely fly all the way up there, sorry but they're not "innnocent" in my book..they guy that did it to us was an ALT..no profile/no payment info.

Denver I do agree with you, but there all plenty of malls set up to be that high, as well as clubs and sights and things. To assume a visitor is aware that your pacific one isn't and is a skybox for private use is naive. Get out more

And now that ya know that, I think you'll agree with me 100% So come on back and tell me "Oh that's different. Yes Denver I agree w you now 100%"

From: Argent Stonecutter You do know that ban zones only go up to 768 meters, right? Do you mean ban *lines* or that no security device above 768m works? As for banlines, I'm glad they don't go any higher. I personally much prefer security orbs to ban lines at any level due to the visual blight. I think I saw that one of the newer viewers, or maybe the Emerald, has the ability to turn off the view of banlines which does help with the visual element, but then one is strolling or flying along and slams into one with no warning of any kind. However, I have an older PC and have to stay at 64m draw distance 99% of the time if I want to move so the old viewer I have doesn't have that option. After reading this entire discussion in one read yesterday (whew!) I configured my orb to the highest warning setting it has, which is 1m. Then I turned it off because, as I said in an earlier post, on this new parcel I'm on in the sim, no one has shown up on either my orb list of people ejected or visitor's list when I haven't been there. I'm going to keep it off until I see if it is needed again by those two checking methods. (I'm starting to think no one knows where the sim is where I live since there have only been 4 of us who have lived there for 1-2 years regularly and over 1/2 the sim is for sale....the same parcels...even some facing a protected ocean....for months. All they seem to do is change land baron hands. I think some of the parcels are priced too high for the present SL land economy although it is bordered by two linden oceans, but, I kind of like it the way it is. Little to no lag and at any given time I've seen a maximum of 5 people in the entire sim, 2 of them usually me and my partner.) I am going to turn my orb on temporarily, set to 1m, and have my alt fly my balloon up there to see if I can get out of the way in time. Considering the lack of lag/people/buildings, etc. I suspect 1m will be sufficient, but I do want to test that. So...if you want to fly around the 1500m level on my sim, Argent and any other fliers, you should be good. My neighbor has an orb but I think his skybox is a bit lower than mine. At any rate, don't fly farther east past my home and you won't run into his at all. I'm pretty sure the entire rest of the sim doesn't have any sky orbs because, again, a great deal of the sim is empty. ETA: I just reread Denver's post and I think you mean that no one can be "banned" that high up; not that security orbs won't work. Mine just sets a person on another part of the sim.

It doesn't matter what effect it has at ground level, when they can just click on a link in chat and teleport right back at the original altitude.

I just went in world to double check it does not have that function. I just happened to notice the option on the View menu in a newer version when I was using it to take pictures. (My old viewer is pre-windlight as well.)

Id presumably think that was a mier blink of an eye ^^ so make up your own mind

I wish my neighbor in Dallows would figure that out. Then maybe he wouldn't feel the need to rez a 50 meter high glowing screen around his property. :/

I just did that today. The person with the megascreen actually likes and photographs the nice landscapes in SL - and he's an RL lanscape gardner - so maybe my IM will work.

The person with the megascreen actually likes and photographs the nice landscapes in SL - and he's an RL lanscape gardner - so maybe my IM will work. He's irrational...I don't know if I should go into the whole thing...something about blaming me for his dead chickens which I had no idea even existed...And I'd never been on his land. That & more...He's extended it around half his property and I finally figured out it's the height of a ban line and all of us on that side have them (in my case just for him. For the above and more reasons.) Before this he had a 50 meter long 20 meter high glow cube right up against my parcel bordering his...before the dead chicken incident and before I'd ever spoken with him. So that was a strange thing. (That cube was tons brighter than the screen is; so bright it washed out everything on that side of my land. He did take that away after I politely asked, but since his other assorted behavior, I hesitate to ever contact him.) And by the way he has absolutely nothing at ground level except some shrubs, so far. Never has had, that I've seen (except the glowy cubes/screens.) :/ I assume his sion farm is in the sky, but I dunno what his own ban line or glow screen is protecting? And the land is for sale too...even odder. There's no rationality at work with some people unfortunately. But thank you for the solution. Normally it would be a good one.

Now, who does that remind me of? Assuming it's not L'Innommable, this incident is still more proof, if proof were needed, that virtual chickens not only cause lag but that, in some people at least, can also precipitate serious mental health problems. To my mind, they're at least as dangerous as cannabis, and should be banned forthwith.
