On Armistice Day
The Philharmonic will play
But the songs that we sing
Will be sad
Shufflin brown tunes
Hanging around, ahoo
M-m-m-m-m-m-m
No long drawn blown out excuses
Were made
When I needed a friend she was there
Just like an easy chair

Oo, Oo-o
M-m-m-m-m-m-m

Armistice Day
Armistice Day
That's all I really wanted to say

Oh I'm weary from waiting
In Washington D.C.
I'm coming to see my Congressman
But he's avoiding me
Weary from waiting down in Washington D.C.

Oh Congresswoman
Won't you tell that Congressman
I've waited such a long time
I've about waited all I can

Armistice Day stayed true to it's original intent until the 1950's, although Eisenhower was pushing for a Veteran's Day after WWII. He was finally able to get it when he was elected President.

nice dedication, Brenda. where is that?

and thanks for the history lesson of how this holiday came to pass.

for Eli
"...Don't know how I live without you
Cuz everytime that I get around you
I see the best of me inside your eyes
You make me smile
You make me dance like a fool
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold, buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild..."

Pep (It's Remembrance Day here, not Veterans Day; there's a difference.)
Yeah, your Remembrance Day is more similar to our Memorial Day.

Howdy folks!

I'm hoping everyone has a good Veterans / Remembrance Day and that all those serving far from home return safely soon.

On a lighter note, just for 3R, I can describe last nights dining experience in three words.

YUMMM, YUMMM, YUMMM!

:D

Oh crap..I didn't even think of that! *shakes fist.

3 is absolutely right, you should definitely send him your bear. It's definitely not too late, and would be a proper reciprocal gesture. :D And, YOUR bear isn't 36 prims, he should be grateful.

LOL...did you give him one of your YOUR bears??? :p

I've been known to do that at times, givin a Linden the Marianne McCann Bear in exchange. I really need to update her though.

(This is also why you'll find my bear in a place or two in Linden Village)

It just dawned on me - today is Veteran's day here in the US and my stepson got on a plane in the wee hours of this morning to fly to Germany for a 2-yr Army active duty assignment -- and hopefully that is as close to any action that he gets.

And from my inbox today -- the Peter Pepper:

- It’s a real plant, usually called the Peter Pepper, scientific name capsicum annuum var. annuum ‘Peter’.

- It’s been called many other names, including Chilli Willy and Penis Chilli; and has been judged “Most Pornographic Pepper” by Organic Gardening Magazine.

- Apparently it has always been grown more as an ornamental thing, rather than to be eaten, although it’s perfectly edible.

- By the way, a farmer who specializes in growing them, says they can grow up to 18" long -- and each Peter Pepper plant produces approximately 100 hot little peppers!!!
