There's also a free way of treasure hunting rather than using a radar hud, if you happen to use the Emerald viewer. I think it's called "area search" under the Emerald menu at the top of the viewer. Just enter your search parameters (i'll often just enter "#" for big hunts) and it will give you a list of items, click the item in the list and it will set a red beacon to the object.

that feels a little like cheating. i'd use it tho, if i got stuck! Yes I kinda feel the same way. The whole point of most content creators participating in treasure hunts is to increase their traffic and exposure to their products and ultimately increasing their sales. It's a bit like cheating when you try to get around it, even though I am guilty of using it for well hidden things, although I will try to find it myself first. I find it also a bit annoying when people complain about free things being too hard to find or that they are of poor quality. Of course this is sometimes the case, but it seems a bit unappreciative imho. _____________________

wowser...that Emerald viewer just gets better and better for me! ![]() But..I confess I don't understand most of what is listed in the official or unofficial viewers' Preferences. ![]() If you go to preferences, then Emerald, page 2, effects, you then click the top check box to enable that option. You can see boobies wiggling wildly. Personally I find it freaky and not natural looking. Like two hamsters mating in your breasts.* Also there are some other stuff in there. Like turning off the dots that shoot out of your arm as you Nazi salute prims to edit them. Also, that turns off the salute, I think. And there is another check box where you can turn off other people's ability to see where you are looking. And then there is the invisibility. There is also the option to have your avatar 20 meters tall, blue, glowing, and capable of causing arousal in everyone.** *this quote used to be in Ghosty's profile. Though it was buttocks there, not breasts. ** this one is in beta, at the moment it causes you to be 2 inches tall and causes stink waves, like seen in comic strips, to flow from you. |

that feels a little like cheating. i'd use it tho, if i got stuck! When stuck is mostly the point. There is usually some bad client side lag when you first turn it on as it parses through all the objects in draw distance. For the majority of a hunt, you are better off looking the old fashion way; when you are not distracted by shopping that is ![]() _____________________

Of course this is sometimes the case, but it seems a bit unappreciative imho. As to quality, my argument is that if part of the purpose of being in the hunt is to supply a sample of your work, you should not be giving away the item you created when you first started and had not learned how to match seams yet. Nor should they be giving away any of the generic freebies that can be found all over the grid -- and many really do do this. _____________________

I hate when the item is on a ledge near the ceiling, in such a way that you can't really see it by looking up. Have to have camera at same level, horizontal to the item. Either the camera moved up there, or avtar flying near the ceiling.
And I really hate when the hunt item is, say, green, and it is placed against a green background. Same green color. And is about 3 inches long. |
