Sort of a spicey tamarind-based sauce. It's English, but it's yummy anyway.
Looks kind of like A-1 steak sauce:

i repeat.... just because someone in history once said something you are now quoting doesn't make it grammatically correct. it is wrong, and you are wrong.
Now you are demonstrating that you are not merely ignorant, you are stupidly stubborn in the face of the facts as well.

Not nearly.

It goes well with meat and potatoes.

Or, mix it 50/50 with Worcestershire sauce

and apply liberally to french fries. Mmmmm!
Ahhh - now I get a better idea of it.

Useless factoid, but the original secret Lea & Perrins worcestershire sauce recipe was almost thrown away but was recovered from the garbage by the company's accountant. http://www.slashfood.com/2009/11/03/worcestershire-sauce-secret-recipe-found-in-trash/
So who says accountants aren't useful every now and again?

Howdy folks!

Just thought I'd pop in and say hello. I haven't posted here for a bit but I have been lurking the last couple of days catching back up to the thread.

With one possible exception I'm glad to see you are all still here. :)

Till later, adios.

I can easily live without bacon, but cannot survive more than a few days without pasta.

i rarely eat pasta. but when i do, it's whole wheat when possible. i just don't like what it does to one's waistline, so it's hard to be a fan or supporter.

I think this is a leftover of the part of my childhood where pretty much the only meat we ate was hamburger in some form. Meatloaf was a twice weekly meal because of how cheap it was - spaghetti was another dish we ate usually twice a week.. When I first graduated college, I would not touch ground beef in any dish for months. For some reason, the meatloaf part has stuck with me.

ditto to all. we wuz dirt poor. add to that - cottage cheese. took me years to be able to eat any of those. now, i like them all, but in moderation.

I understand that. Ironically, I didn't care a lot for meatloaf as a kid..my mom made it in tomato sauce...it wasn't until a freind's mom made it with brown gravy that I started to really like it.

Aren't you a potato aficionado? That would qualify as a useless starch by your definition.
