I did my first Pumpkin carving in ages the other night...a couple of friends came over with their dog and a case of Heineken and we disemboweled some pumpkins.

Sounds like you had a good time. :)

Oh, Laurin, I'm sorry to hear that the flu has invaded your house. :( Having been struck by it a while back...I hope whomever has it gets lots of rest, and feels better soon. (takes a while)

Speaking of Halloween and fire: My civic association has a big event on Halloween in the neighborhood park. In the middle of the baseball diamond, we construct a HUGE bonfire, and everyone comes from far and near to the park on Halloween. We hand out cider, and gingersnaps, and those glow ring necklace thingies for the kids. :)

Man, I love that bonfire. It must be my Celtic roots. :)

Thanks. We all have it, but I think I may have had it first or am at least recovering quicker.

We do some really cool things here for Halloween, too, which involve some local geographical traditions. Fireworks however seem to have minimized in the last 2 years as they actually started checking people coming in over the border from the North and taking the fireworks off them. It'll be a sad day if the bonfires ever stop. :(

So that means every single kid in the area comes to my house (right next to the park) to trick or treat. You do NOT want to know how much candy I buy each year!!! :D

I am getting my flu shot tonight. I had a touch of it a couple of weeks ago, hopefully that will be it. I heard yesterday the Cleveland Browns have been hit heavy by the flu, so whoever is playing them this weekend may have some extar advantage...not that they need it.

It is looking rather combative out there.

Don't want to shock anyone, but I have used that type of Band-Aid. Won't say how long ago.

Very cool pics being posted in this thread lately.

Yes you. You might not appreciate the humour of the post, but you'd be pretty stupid to not recognize its presence.

So are you stupid? Are you?

Humour? What humour? Scatological is a term for a mental defect as far as I am concerned. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toilet_humour

Pep (Humiliating is a more appropriate word.)

I'm annoyed. Bought a new nVidia GeForce 9800GT video card yesterday for my desktop computer. Want to use it instead of my laptop for SL. Get home and discover that my power supply isn't powerful enough to handle the new video card. High-end computer, low-end graphics card and power supply. Go figure.

Pretty much why I never upgraded my machine. New video card, then comes a new power supply, maybe a new motherboard then, well heck, might as well put in a DVD drive since this machine doesn't have one, then let's put in a new soundcard *OK well that has failed anyway*, then well..might as well put in a bigger HD...while you're at it, replace Vista..before all is done, I've spent twice as much as i paifd for the machine already. I'll just replace it all with a new one.

Well, the computer itself is an Quad Core AMD 64 with 7GB of RAM. I assumed that the power supply just for that would have been at least 400W, not the measly 300W they put in it. After the video card and power supply gets updated, there won't be any more upgrades on that computer. I hate mucking around with hardware.

Correction, I may upgrade sound at some point, since it is just integrated sound, but that isn't very high on my priority list. Sound is good enough for me. ;)

Acutally, the uniforms are the first things you get. The HUD attachment is first and it does give it a creppy movie feel. Then in the first room there are male and female versions of the uniform plus some boots and the "flashlight" rectical. Most people wore the clothes because it was just more fun to be part of the movie that way, but you do not have to wear any of that.

300 Watts?!
Cheese and crackers. Is this an old case with a new system? I do not know how you keep from getting random lockups from low voltage problems.
But yes, a new power supply will help you in a very noticable way beyond just pushing the video card.

the newer cards tend to run hotter, so you may need a new fan, too. That's why I'm using my old graphics card until it dies... :(

Yep, when I upgraded the video card on my last computer, I found out I needed a bigger power supply and quite a bit more cooling. Of course, I did not figure all of that out until I fried a power supply and the cpu.

I stopped by just now. It looks like fun, I may go back. reading the norecard does maention sound is an important part of the show, so I don't know how much fun it will be on a silent machine.

Time for lunch:

French Fry Encased Hot Dog on a Stick
Who needs a bun when you can just wrap your hot dog in French fries? The French fry-encased hot dog on a stick is literally a hot dog wrapped in fries.

Or maybe:
Pizza Burger
Having a hard time making up your mind between pizza or a burger? Then here's the "Pizza Burger," which combines both foods into one enormous concoction. You can probably find pizza burgers on the menus at some diners, but they don't come close to this -- a giant burger between two large meat pizzas, with eggs, bacon, and colby and pepper jack cheese added.

Or possibly you would prefer:
Corn Dog Pizza
The cardinal rule rule of pizza may well be that you can make any kind of pizza by putting anything on top. Take, for example, the "Corn Dog Pizza." It's a plain cheese pizza with seven whole corn dogs (still on the stick) on top. Similar to the "Pizza Burger," it combines two foods that are not often seen together.

No. The computer isn't that old. Just bought it early this year and HP is still selling it. It goes for around $1000, but I got it for about $700 when Circuit City was going out of business. That is why I was shocked and irritated by my discovery.

Haven't opened the box yet, but this card is supposed to have its own cooling system on it.
