Monday I spent an hour shopping for supplies, $35 for supplies, another $25 on a couple of tools that I'll use again, and two hours in the attic. Problem solved.
I'm tempted to call the guy back and ask if I looked gullible enough to accept that estimate or if they just try to rip everyone off like that.
Maybe you were lucky. The biggest plumbing outfit in my neighborhood has one of those adjustable marquees that reads "Cheaper than letting your husband try to fix it." or "We'll repair in an hour what your husband spent all weekend messing up." I'm thinking they're targeting a specific demographic with that. From: Brenda Connolly Is anyone "losing IM's" recently? Wicked Fashions is having a sale this month -- 66% off everything. When you enter the store, click on the Sale sign and you'll get a discount card to wear. @Weston: Besides the original white tee, I am having a new one is in the works...in fact a prototype has already been sent out to several threadians already. The maker is still working on some of the detailing, hopefully it will be done soon.There will be others as well, I have a wish list a mile long already.

Places like Home Depot and Lowe's now have great "ladies tool kits" -- comes with a nice pack of all the basics. Add in Google and you can figure out lots. However, I personally will not do any electrical and only the very basics in plumbing.
