From: Seven Okelli Yeah - me too. Are Mari and Josh the only ppl we know building for that? and Mari, is it okay to come peek? or is that against the rules? I found Joan Jett singing that song. (They subtitled the lyrics, but they're often wrong.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJeB0iEXMBIsometimes I thought I was watching Prince. The only other burners I recognized as forum regulars was Mari and Ghosty, but I think the llama decided to give his plot away due to time constraints. This is my first year doing it and I took some time to tour around the other day and there are some really amazing builds out there. It's quite a bit of fun and the BL community is really friendly. Unfortunately the sims are closed off to the general public until the gates are open at noon on Oct 17th so you have to be a builder or volunteer/staff to gain access. Unfortunately I'm not done my build yet, as I keep changing my mind and experimenting with different things. Having a smaller 350p plot forces me to reign in my ideas and be as primficient as possible plus you want to adhere to the BL principles and make it fun and interactive, but there are so many things I wanna do and not enough time or prims to do it! I'll probably, or someone else will, start a BL thread of cool spots to see once the gates open. You can check out more info here if you're interested: http://burninglife.secondlife.com/http://burninglife.secondlife.com/volunteer/jobs09http://www.burningman.com/whatisburningman/about_burningman/principles.htmlhttp://burninglife.secondlife.com/whatwhere

From: Maureen Boccaccio With the military escort?? Actually, the airport I flew into was right next to Eglin AFB, so there were definitely fighters in the vicinity. There was a nice F15 on display outside the terminal

From: Scylla Rhiadra Well, I have a kind of strange interest in military history, although mostly the cultural and social aspects of it. I liked the sorts of things that John Keegan was doing with it -- the "experience" of war from the soldier's perspective. And things like Paul Fussell's The Great War and Modern Memory. I have a particular interest in the Blitz, though, because my mother was born in Hounslow right in the middle of it. My grandmother (who died a year ago) used to tell about how they had an anti-aircraft battery behind their backyard. And how, on one occasion, a nearby bomb shattered every window in the house: the glass would likely have killed my mother had they not fitted steel shutters to the windows. My grandfather worked building planes, most notably Mosquitoes, so I learned a fair amount about aircraft identification at a young age. It wasn't every high school girl who knew the difference between the silhouette of a Hurricane, and a Spitfire.

From: Maureen Boccaccio Wonderful! And ooh, Cindy's sim sounds fabulous. I am a sucker for a carousel...and oooo there's a haunted one there??? Yes, it was the first 'halloweeny' thing we saw, unless you count the gigantic red spiders covering the horse trail, right before the carousel......*eeek*

From: Marianne McCann I actually did not spend the entire weekend on site. I also got some time to have a sleepover with some friends who are staying with their families on the S.S. Galaxy. Here we are goofin' around outside of their cabin. I love this pic!

From: Tod69 Talamasca ... I have an upcoming date... Have a wonderful time Tod! From: Tod69 Talamasca ...I consider SL Residents my 2nd Family. ...
I'm sure I speak for most when I say we feel the same. Mari, you are so cool. I love Rock and Roll. Joan Jett works for me every time. Thanks Seven. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0gjcF05UGI&NR=1 From: Treasure Ballinger Doncha hate when that happens? I rezzed a new, bigger house this weekend because I wanted more wall space, for art. It was my very first house in SL when I first bought land back in 2007. I always liked it but it's primmy. I can actually afford the prims now, so decided to bring it back. So, I got it just like I wanted it. Then, instead of clicking 'Save' on the rez box, I deleted the rez box, and hence, the house. Sigh. Start over. Then I was trying to move some phantom looking flowers around and couldn't find the root prim, every part of them I clicked on, the 'About Land' would highlight. I had to really cam in on them and search for a part that would highlight them. I also bought a horse this weekend. *sympathetic laugh* The thing I do most often is type in wrong co-ordinates and send whatever it is dashing off to the other end of whatever sim I'm working on. Sometimes it's a couple of months before someone comes across it and returns it to me. It doesn't even embarrass me that much any more. The horse sounds like fun. From: Scylla Rhiadra ...
(Isn't that what the Brits excel at? "Muddling through" in the end? Where did I read that?) With a stiff upper lip. I hope you (and your computer) feel much better very soon, Rhiadra. My aunt held one of the ropes attached to a barrage balloon at the Tower of London during the Blitz. My mom was also in the British army; she went over seas. Meanwhile the U.S. army was putting my dad through college. From: 3Ring Binder OMG, what a great weekend in SL you had. i LOVE this piccie.... and i can imagine all the fun leading up to it. i cant wait for BL to open so i can come see your build. i dunno what that is, an explosion of timber perhaps, but it has me intrigued. all great pics. your eyes in the closeup of the dust gear totally make that shot~ Ya, I had come across the group, found out who was "in charge" (if there is such a thing when those sorts of things happen) and they asked if I wanted to join in. I said sure, of course. It was silly fun. The best kind. Glad you like the shot of me. It just sort of came together, really better than I expected. I hope you like my build when you get there, too! Fun thing about the sneak peek piccie I showed this time? that was 7 prims. From: Maureen Boccaccio Ooooh, just what I needed this morning: the latest edition of Mari's Weekend Update. *smiles*
I love that pic of the Channel Island Asylum. oooooh...spooky.
That "Thriller" dance is so much fun to do with a group. And I manage to do it so much better in SL. *grins*
Cannot WAIT to see your Burning Life build!!! *smiles happily* The Channel Island shot was part of promotions for the upcoming Tri-City parade. The Bay City leg of it, to be specific. That place *is* spooky. I recommend it for folks looking for some inworld scary stuff. From: Rhonda Huntress Nice hair Hee! They handed that to everyone along with the thriller dance. I also used the glasses from the RC Cluster Michael Jackson tribute set.

and Mari, is it okay to come peek? or is that against the rules? I think it's me, Josh, and, um... the person who got Ghosty's plot who I talked to the other day but am totally spacing on the name. Sorry. if you have the build group for the playa, by all means come by and say hi! I think they still need greeters and other volunteers, too. I set up, for the SL kids group, a HUD for the event that helps folks get to the various kids builds and points of interest. It'll be available on the playa as well as at my store. I dunno how much help it'll be for the non-kids, but it does include things like the man, the temple, center camp, etc.

It has been an interesting day on the forums today. Considering the nature of the threads some of those come from, this may work better.

OK, I've not been to this store, but I just read about "Multiple Personality Disorder" in one of the blogs. Everything in the store is 1L each. From: someone Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD) is one of my new favourite stores. Not only is everything fun, flirty and well designed...its ALL only $1!!!! Yes that is not a misprint. Everything in store at MPD is only one linden. You can buy everything for yourself, an alt, even drag your friends in and still have enough cash left over to hit some more of our stores. I chose a costume, after all, tis the costume season, and what could be cuter than this bee outfit! http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_p1_xf8qb9s8/Ssp0QryN09I/AAAAAAAAAqM/urLir22UbLc/s1600-h/MPD.png http://slurl.com/secondlife/Harlow/29/144/33
