ok....my hand is again forced.
A young lad was visiting a church for the first time, checking all the announcements and posters along the walls.
When he came to a group of pictures of men in uniform, he asked a nearby usher, "Who are all those men in the pictures?"
The usher replied, "Why, those are our boys who died in the service".
Dumbfounded, the youngster asked, "Was that the morning service or the evening service?"

From: Eli Schlegal I'm not being emotional. I'm trying to reason with you. So where is the reasoning? As opposed to the repeated and dismally ineffectual attempts to tell me what I should do. From: Eli Schlegal I don't get why you need to say things about me and Three. How bout just stop? If you don't say dumb things I won't feel the need to comment. Pep (What's that song title? "You say it best when you say nothing at all." ) PS I appreciated the juxtaposition of four "me too" posts just after yours that I have quoted.

At Sunday School they were teaching how God created everything, including human beings.
Little Johnny seemed especially intent when they told him how Eve was created out of one of Adam's ribs.
Later in the week his mother noticed him lying down as though he were ill, and said, "Johnny, what is the matter?"
Little Johnny responded, "I have pain in my side. I think I'm going to have a wife."

/me sings in his best country drawl The smile on your face lets me know that you need me There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me The touch of your hand says you'll catch me whenever I fall You say it best, when you say nothing at all. Somehow, I don't think that is how you meant it.

The new minister's wife had a baby.
The minister appealed to the congregation for a salary increase to cover the addition to the family.
The congregation agreed that it was only fair, and approved it.
When the next child arrived, the minister appealed again and the congregation approved again.
Several years and five children later, the congregation was a bit upset over the increasing expense. This turned into a rather loud meeting one night with the minister.
Finally, the minister stood and shouted out, "Having children is an Act of God!"
An older man in the back stood and shouted back, "Rain and snow are Acts of God, too, and we wear rubbers for them!"

A preacher was completing a temperance sermon: with great expression he said, "If I had all the beer in the world, I'd take it and throw it into the river." With even greater emphasis he said, "And if I had all the wine in the world, I'd take it and throw it into the river."
And then finally, he said, "And if I had all the whiskey in the world, I'd take it and throw it into the river."
He sat down. The song leader then stood very cautiously and announced with a smile, "For our closing song, let us sing Hymn # 365: "Shall We Gather at the River."

From: Eli Schlegal I'm telling you what you should do because I'm right and I'm backing it up by explaining. Wow! That is one hell of a forceful argument you have put together there. How can I resist it? Erm. Easily? From: Eli Schlegal It's just not true Pep. I didn't post at all the whole weekend but you still found the need to post something mean about me and Three. You could always try not posting for longer? Pep (Or even better, post something meaningful?)

From: Maureen Boccaccio *stammers* er...ah...well? I was doing some gardening outside, replacing the flowers with more seasonally appropriate foliage...and instead of "taking" the flowers, I took the 1st floor's floor. And then I took the center part of the upstairs. What a doofus. Doncha hate when that happens? I rezzed a new, bigger house this weekend because I wanted more wall space, for art. It was my very first house in SL when I first bought land back in 2007. I always liked it but it's primmy. I can actually afford the prims now, so decided to bring it back. So, I got it just like I wanted it. Then, instead of clicking 'Save' on the rez box, I deleted the rez box, and hence, the house. Sigh. Start over. Then I was trying to move some phantom looking flowers around and couldn't find the root prim, every part of them I clicked on, the 'About Land' would highlight. I had to really cam in on them and search for a part that would highlight them. I also bought a horse this weekend.

Where did you get your horsey? SL Riding Academy. I met the owner, Cindy Bolero, at SLCC. So did some other members of my group. So yesterday, Cindy took several of my group members on a field trip around the trails of her sims, on horseback, she has the sims decorated for halloween, had a seance area (Talk to Elvis! Sit here!) and a haunted carousel, and some other scary halloween things, but mostly it was just a beautiful ride, the sims are just beautifully terraformed, with mountainous terrain, and wonderful waterfalls and canyons, and beaches. The ride convinced me I needed a horse (I was on a demo for the trip) and after the trip was over, I went and got one. A black Arabian stallion.

I have to say that there is something rather . . . I dunno, life-affirming? . . . about the way that the conversation here just sort of continues in its friendly and collegial way, oblivious to, or at least unmindful of, the sound and fury being emitted by Pep and Eli. It's a bit reminiscent of those wonderful photos of Londoners during the Blitz, carrying on with their lives amidst the devastation. Good morning all! Feeling a bit ill this morning, myself. I think I may have a flu-ey thing. And my computer, which was working well after I took it in to be fixed, has started to act up again. But like those Londoners, I'll muddle through. (Isn't that what the Brits excel at? "Muddling through" in the end? Where did I read that?)

From: Brenda Connolly LOL..being a bit of a WWII buff, that made me smile. Well, I have a kind of strange interest in military history, although mostly the cultural and social aspects of it. I liked the sorts of things that John Keegan was doing with it -- the "experience" of war from the soldier's perspective. And things like Paul Fussell's The Great War and Modern Memory. I have a particular interest in the Blitz, though, because my mother was born in Hounslow right in the middle of it. My grandmother (who died a year ago) used to tell about how they had an anti-aircraft battery behind their backyard. And how, on one occasion, a nearby bomb shattered every window in the house: the glass would likely have killed my mother had they not fitted steel shutters to the windows. My grandfather worked building planes, most notably Mosquitoes, so I learned a fair amount about aircraft identification at a young age. It wasn't every high school girl who knew the difference between the silhouette of a Hurricane, and a Spitfire.

Does tea work as well as water, do you think? The annoying thing, of course, is that I'm having to run off to pee every 15 minutes . . . I'm washing my hands a lot, too, although that always seems to me a bit like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted. Still, I suppose it makes me a good citizen . . . (The good citizen is a sterile citizen?)

From: Maureen Boccaccio With the military escort?? I was wondering about that too. Those don't really look like fighter jets... they look like... well... geese. But geese can't keep up with a jet liner. Hmmm.
