From: Love Hastings If you are referring to Pep's claims that whenever someone quotes him or talks to him they receive a PM admonishment from the "nonexistent clique"... sorry, but to the best of my knowledge he's just making that up. It's propaganda. If you aren't referring to that, then what the hell *are* you talking about? In my opinion it is a very strong possibility beccause of what happened to me.

From: Kira Cuddihy Thank you Lindal, but some of us are just built that way. Many times I would read one of Pep's replies where he would state "wait for your pm telling you not to do this, by one of the ..." ... I would just shake my head and agree. Sad state of affairs. Kira, you actually RECEIVED such a PM? Saying what? I quote Pep here all the time, and I'm not a member (yet) of the Cartel, but I've never received anything like that.

From: Maureen Boccaccio Geez everyone. I am home, sick as I don't know what (hoping I don't have this H1N1 bug). I am really really cranky.
As much as I abhor snide nasty comments from any quarter...this has gone on way too long. And it's not healthy...for anyone....to read, write, or be affected by it.
Although I have no basis for this belief, I feel there is at least one SL forumite who wishes to destroy this thread.
Look at this Thread. Until.....well, I'd have to go back a ways a read, but for a long, long time, this Thread was a haven. Sort of like the office water cooler, or coffee break location. The back yard fence. Chatting...keeping each other up to day on SL (and sometimes RL) happenings. Asking questions..occasionally looking for answers. Making friends.
Many of my inworld friendships were made because of this Thread. The Forum Cartel group and Hangout were, and still are, a home away from home for me.
Many more than Amara have left this Thread, for the same reason, if not on account of the same person. And that saddens me.
We don't have the power to ban people from this thread or the Forums (WHY won't they give me these powerz???), but we do have the ability to...shun. It's worked effectively for eons, in many cultures.
This is not the same as being an ostrich with one's head in the sand. It's a choice one makes to not give nastiness an opportunity to invade and fester.
For goodness sake, JUST IGNORE.
Now...I'm going to go take my temperature again, and go back to bed. Please please please think carefully before you post. I hope you feel better.

I quote Pep here all the time, and I'm not a member (yet) of the Cartel, but I've never received anything like that. I didn't receive a PM for quoting something that Pep had said. He was however, mentioned in the PM to me. Apparently I was being compared to him for trying to destroy this thread.

Not to get off topic OR ANYTHING...
I'm posting this because something just reminded me that there's an election (in Boston) tomorrow, and Mayor Menino, who's been mayor for 15 years, and he might get unseated.
This weekend there was a festival at the Greek Orthodox church in the neighborhood, so we went there with some friends to have dinner.
This guy comes up to our table and introduces himself. He's one of the Irish candidates for office, and he was standing directly opposite me and Six. We're half Irish and don't look Italian at all. The other half, and the rest of the table, are Italian.
He says, "I hope you'll vote for me. Fifteen years of an Italian are long enough."
We were all too surprised to say anything. Maybe it was supposed to be a joke, but if it was his delivery was pretty poor.
I don't think he has a chance in the election anyway, but if I see him outside the polling place tomorrow I want to say something tactful.

That works great when the community is unified. Not so much when it's divided. If some choose make the person welcome, and give him "glares" (seriously?) which only serve to encourage him, how do you expect a good ol' fashion shunning to succeed? I don't. If Pep insults me, I'm the victim. If I react, why is it my fault for reacting? What's the time frame in which I'm allowed to react before *I'm* accused of starting something? I'll say it again. This thread is getting exactly what it deserves.

. Wow,that is quite a remark. I wouldn't want that guy for mayor. I always like Menino personally. Though I no longer live there,so doesn't really matter what I like.

Kira, I'm very very sorry to hear that. You don't say what the tone of the PM was, but it was clearly out of line anyway. You, me, Love, Amara, Rhonda . . . and yes, even Pep, have every right to post here. As auditors, we have the right not to listen when we find something offensive, but silencing people, for whatever reason, is just wrong. I for one am glad that you are posting, and I congratulate you on it especially as you must certainly not feel very "welcome" here. ETA: I am truly flabbergasted. There seriously HAS been someone going around telling people how to respond to this thread?????

I'll say it again. This thread is getting exactly what it deserves. but why do you need to react? I have had that poster make snide remarks about me and at me, and I chose to not react. If that poster continues to "attack" me, and I continue to ignore, who do you think looks stupid? I know in the past I let some posters posts get to me, but eventually I came to realize that by reacting, I was giving them the power to hurt me, and by doing so, they continued to hurt me. Once I took that power away, guess what... no more hurt. Just... ignore, do not go for the obvious bait, and continue to ignore. It really is not hard, really.

But it has happened. yep, it does happen, it will continue to happen, any time there is a group of people who become a close knit group (call it a clique, or whatever you want, bottom line, it is a close knit group of people who do band together a lot) however... not sure if it is just me not reading here as much, or if things are a changing... I have noticed that the "clique" doesn't seem as cliquish as of late (by that I mean, it doesn't seem as close knit, as friendly, and people do not seem as quick to "jump on the bandwagon" *shrug*

I've been reading various threads here, and there does seem to be a bit of a clique at times. Of course, even more transparent, is the amount of drama that goes through this forum. The drama llama gets quite a workout in these forums.

ok... totally off topic, if there is a topic.... Sometimes, somethings totally take me off guard... bear with me cuz this is one of those OMG how stupid can I be and how embarrassing LOL... I was just now scrolling through the replies and saw my banner on my sig that I just added, and thought, those shoes are cool, wonder where they are from... then it dawned on me, it's mine.... erm... *note* avoid forums, avoid posting, avoid thinking, when sick. (is something going around, noticed others mentioned they are sick too)
