OK. Y'all didn't let me derail this train from its gloomy course with my silly letter, so I'll try again. Yesterday, I embarrassed myself. I was working on my hotel, which currently has two tenants. I noticed a couple of new arrivals on my radar. The names were unfamiliar, so I went looking, thinking to welcome them and maybe even add a new tenant. They were in one of the penthouse apartments, engaged in Adult Content. I went in, and said, "Do you know this is a private residence?" Man: "I have the owner's permission to use his apartment". Me: "I'll just IM him and check" Man: "Fine, you do that...then come over here" I IM'd the tenant, and he was off line. Me: "I don't think so. Instead, I think I will eject your sassy ass." Man: "Bad timing" I ejected and banned and muted both of them. About two minutes later, the tenant showed up. As it turned out, the intruder DID have his permission to use the apartment. Red-faced, I apologized to the tenant, his friend, and his friend's objet d'affection. They were all actually very good about it. The joys of being an SL landlady. Oh geez. I'm laughing so hard, my head hurts!  um...I'd say I'm sorry this happened to you, but...I can't! I'm still snortling. |

It wasn't a case of how important Amara was to this thread, I agree, no one person is more important than the other. This thread was important to HER. It was her safe place, her sanctuary, when things got nasty out there. it was like a blanket she could pull up around herself. Unless you were here every day you would not see how important it was to her. Go ahead and say, she's a big girl, only she can make herself leave, etc, it's true, but we all have our limits and buttons. Some go to WoW or some other place they enjoy when things get to them. Amara came here.
I just can't believe how one person can do so much to insult, belittle and agitate people, causing them to behave as horrobly as he in some cases. Love is right. We got what we deserved. _____________________

Not to get off topic OR ANYTHING... I'm posting this because something just reminded me that there's an election (in Boston) tomorrow, and Mayor Menino, who's been mayor for 15 years, and he might get unseated. This weekend there was a festival at the Greek Orthodox church in the neighborhood, so we went there with some friends to have dinner. This guy comes up to our table and introduces himself. He's one of the Irish candidates for office, and he was standing directly opposite me and Six. We're half Irish and don't look Italian at all. The other half, and the rest of the table, are Italian. He says, "I hope you'll vote for me. Fifteen years of an Italian are long enough." We were all too surprised to say anything. Maybe it was supposed to be a joke, but if it was his delivery was pretty poor. I don't think he has a chance in the election anyway, but if I see him outside the polling place tomorrow I want to say something tactful. . Holy cow! This guy must not want to win. |
