From: 3Ring Binder we made a 2x4 planter box for grass, for Jimi. he isn't going to be allowed to roam freely outside, so it seemed only fair to bring the outside up to him, even if just a little. we'll add some flowers and such soon, to make him really happy.    that is Nikki off to the side, also exploring the box of grass  his outside experience will be limited to this upper deck. will try to lure birds and butterflies. that will be fun! Oh Jimi, you are so precious!

One of my favorite places on Earth was destroyed in the Santa Barbara fires last fall--The Mount Calvary retreat house. I've been several times for retreats there, and a more peaceful, beautiful setting to reflect and commune with nature would be hard to find.  here's a link to their website, and pictures before and after the fire. Thanks to everyone for the good wishes and prayers. I'm still outside the evacuation area for now.
@Oryx, I'll keep you and your mom in my prayers too. I'm glad the first treatment was easier than expected.
@3Ring, your kitty is adorable and looks like a young version of mine.
However, please don't assume that because you are on the 2nd floor the cat won't jump down from the balcony if he sees something interesting, I had a cat that did just that. Installed full netting before allowing him out again.

From: Brenda Connolly I know the breed takes to water, but it is amazing to watch him. I pulled up to the lake and barely had the car door open and he was off and in the water. we've always had labs up until this dog we have now, and i agree that they LOVE water - almost abnormally. but it's great fun!

I would advise to put him on a harness, if you can't net the entire balcony. All it takes is one interesting bird or gopher... My cat was fine, but it scared the bejeebers outta ME!!!!! |
