Hi there - Jerboa and I made a brief visit to the King Tut Virtual sim. Just as others have indicated...it was AMAZING.

A pic of the Cosmic Gallery:

That was one seriously long walkway!!! :p

So Mom's first chemo went well. Wasn't nearly as scary as we were both psyching ourselves out for. The treatment room is really big, like a large living room, maybe, and has huge windows that look out over some lovely greenery n stuff; the other walls have soothing Japanese paintings. There are about 30 huge leather reclining chairs; the patients (and families if room's available) just pick a chair, get hooked up to an IV by the nurses, and hang out for a few hours. The nurses are all cheerful and joking and friendly; they really made the environment nice. The room has snacks like granola bars, crackers, sodas, tea, coffee, etc available, and there's a cafe across the parking lot, and we can bring food in as well. I think I did about 259 sudokus and read most of a book; the whole thing was uneventful. Mom did really well; she napped and read, and now she's home watching TV. They dosed her up on some strong anti-nausea meds (like Zofran) so no barfing or anything.

Five more to go, yay!

*hugs* to all; I'll catch you later.
Hugs, Oryx. It's good to hear the treatment went well. Prayers and best wishes.

Best wishes for your Mom, Oryx.

Lexxi - I'm looking forward to Star Trek. Glad to hear you liked it so much.

Here are some outdoor elevator pictures from http://slurl.com/secondlife/Muslin/8/166/101/

And to think I almost wore pants!

When I rezzed at home today I was being showered with multicolored particles. So I went outside and found this. :(

The owner of the parcel is trying to re-texture the outside. :(

While pretty in a 60's Hippy-LDS-trippy kind of way I suppose... I would hate to live with it for more than a few seconds- and it doesn't quite fit the mood of ur space- I am sorry this happened to you.

That's just the beginning, Nina.

Next to the ramp down into the tomb is another red eye teleporter that takes you to a museum area. And from there, other red teleporters to their other exhibits (like the cosmic spiral that Maureen showed a picture of...the spiral in the pic is actually the walkway to give you a sense of the size)

Also, if you have media turned on, the little signs are an audio tour, very similar to what you would find in an RL museum. And the audio is well written, and high quality. :)

Oh! And Good Morning Threadland!

(RL glimpse...warning)
I'm completely excited right now. Tonight the band I play in has a big concert at the local middle school, within walking distance to the local college. Yesterday I heard our commercial on the radio...THAT was a neat experience. :)

Requesting your prayers, for those of you who pray...

My hometown is being ravaged by a wildfire, which is out of control due to extreme and unpredictable winds. The evacuation boundary is getting closer by the hour and there is a chance I may need to evacuate in the near future. To be honest... I'm terrified.

I'm praying for the winds to die down and for our emergency service personnel. They have been working nonstop for several days now.

Oh God, awful! :(

If they do tell you to go, please don't be one of those stubborn idiots standing on the roof with a garden hose. Get out fast as you can. You can always get new stuff.

Absolutely Malia.

Most of all...stay safe. Give yourself plenty of time to evacuate if you need to.

I don't pray much anymore, but maybe some Boomer pics can send good vibes Malia's way:

Thank you all very much, I'm online to keep from panicking (it's too early to phone anyone) and it's a big help to hear some friendly voices out there.

And no, Brenda, I am not gonna be standing on the roof with a hose!!! The idea of being burned over large portions of my body and spending years getting skin grafts has no appeal whatsoever.

If the evacuation order comes, I'll turn off the water and gas, and my kitty and I will get the heck out.

Regretting selling my minivan and getting a Geo Metro... could have slept in the van, not to mention saving more stuff.

PS. Boomer is cute. Now send us that water, fast.

I come from a family of Firemen. I have a very healthy respect for fire, bordering on irrational fear at times. I can't think of any way to suffer more horribly than being badly burned.*shudders*
