oooh...back home yet? Any goodies gotten? :)

/trudges up the stairs laden like Santa Claus!

Wow, I did pretty well. First, had to p/u the stuff we pre-purchased the other day for Ghosty because we were concerned about one of the items disappearing: his first "Man-Bag" lol. It was the last one on the shelf. It was $165 originally and nearly 1/2 off when all was said and done. You know, one of those techy messanger type bags that a laptop goes into plus all your other commuting gear? Plus, 3 button down shirts and a really lovely silk tie.

Me? 2 bathing suits, 1 casual kind of cruise-wear dress (neko print by Michael Kors!), some t-shirts, 1 fancy sleeveless rose printed tank top printed, and I'm sure I'm forgetting what else because it's pouring and I didn't bring my bag of stuff into the house yet.

Also, stopped into Target and got things to organize the closet. It's making me crazy looking at this enormous walk-in which I know can be put to better use than we have it. Oh and Tassimo pods for those emergency cups of coffee.

And lunch :) I would have stayed out longer, but I'm pooped!

Howdy folks, I hope everyone is well today!

Just finished catching up with the thread. One thing kept popping into my head. It's an old saying that I don't remember exactly. It goes something like this;

"There's is not point in wrestling with a pig, trying to get it to change it's behavior. You will just get dirty and the pig will enjoy it."

Heinlein again.

PS Was it "unarmed to a battle of its" you once said? Maybe not quite.

I apologize for my minor grammatical error and to Pep if he thought my post was somehow directed at him.

Hey guess what? We had a staff meeting scheduled for 3 pm (12 pm SLT). I walked in, sat down...and discovered that it was a surprise birthday party for me and another colleague (both April birthday babies)!!!

/me smiles happily

And it was killer cake, too!!!

Nice surprise!

It's funny how some people love that kind of thing, and others dread it.

For me, that would be a nightmare! I'm terrified what Ghosty may have up his sleeve on our vacation. My birthday is that Wednesday and he has already joked about letting the waiters know what's up. I'm having anxiety attacks imagining a boatload of people in the dining room starting to sing Happy Birthday to me as I turn beet red and cower under the table  My only hope, is that he made ME promise not to do anything like that when it was his birthday, and I didn't - so I'm thinking he'll remember how much he would have hated it too.

Hey! I just noticed on that 2nd Birthday lolcat photo - the arm of the person holding the cat in place? They are seriously holding onto that cat tightly to keep him/her in that chair! I mean, look at the grasp they have on that kitty! I never noticed it before and I've seen that picture a few times already. Poor thing

I typed "killer cake" into Google images and this came up first:

Pep (Happy Birthday - and because it is I didn't use one of the other images)

That would cause me problems also.

Oh, I know!!! I like the idea of a surprise...but I'm always so embarrassed, when it comes right down to it. Today, I was caught off guard...completely. It was particularly amusing to my office as I'm the one who is usually orchestrating these gatherings. :p

And, heh... :o for the record: My birthdate is April 13; my colleague's is April 20; it was a combo birthday celebration.

But I'm always happy to receive birthday felicitations any time during the Festival of Maureen month. :D

You really know how to milk a birthday lol :p But that's cool that they got you so far AFTER the fact. I would have long forgotten about it. I'm all for the lead-in to my birthday, a few days at most but once it's done, it's done. I do, however, get quite miffed if those who love me forget about it. I've made that quite clear to the llama since it will be the first one we're spending together. I don't need a big to-do from him, just don't forget!

He's very stressed that Mother's Day and my birthday are falling out within days of each other - and no less, we won't be home for Mother's Day although we come home that day. He keeps joking he's going to hell for that one (although, I'm pretty sure he does not really believe in the concept of hell per se).

Maybe Damien has a room for him tucked away somewhere?
