I let this go by earlier, but now it's quoted again... You know, guys, extremists of all ilk are a threat to our national security. Some right-to-lifers blow up abortion clinics. We all know what Timothy McVey did. Earth Firsters and Greenpeace similarly threaten our safety and security. DHS also released an intelligence briefing on the threat of left-wing extremists, but you don't see Fox News all up in arms about that.

If we stopped to think about it, we'd realize that it probably takes months to compile, vet, and release an intelligence report like the ones referenced. I imagine both of these reports were commissioned during the last administration.

Oh, and the Tea party movement? From the American Tea party website:

I think you'll find, like many "grassroots" movements, there's a lot of money and political savvy fueling the fires.

So what......there are tons of organizations on both sides funding protests against one thing or another. Problem is, when conservatives do it, they are called radicals.....when liberals do it....they are called patriotic. We are taxed too heavily and this government is too big....and this guy in the white house is only going to make it worse. I'm tired of it - and today probably won't make a dent in the government's mindset, but I don't care, I was glad to vent.

/me requests that thread posters remember that not all people reading this thread can be relied upon to sympathize with conservative points of view.

Personally, I think that attempts to portray either U.S. conservatives OR liberals as victims of media bogeymen or government reports are hilarious. Both movements are quite powerful.

You should have heard one of the CNN reporters. She was actually arguing and taunting this guy she was interviewing. I have never seen a news reporter act like that before. He was trying to tell her how he is fed up with Washington in general and she kept interupting him asking him why he is an Obama Basher.

If u look closely you will find that there are various views here - and no one attacks anyone's views personally- and if they did EVERYONE would turn on that one person because we may have very different views but we are friends and have (so far) managed to voice different views- probably piss off each other - and still have not resorted to name calling or insults.

During the election it became very evident that we do not see eye to eye on many things- big deal- we get along just fine and when anyone feels like they don't want to read the current topic they take a walk and come back later when it has blown over - and no one bleeds and no one gets hurt. AR the thread for political discussion? Why? Just chill a bit hang around for when we are on religion- oh yeah, we talk about that too. And we will all listen and who knows? Every once in a while someone changes their mind about something and even if they don't we get informed if nothing else, of how others think.

Besides- it's a great place for recipes.

I wouldn't mind the conversation turning back to the topic of lizards...
