Ouch. Coming out of a divorce myself, so I can understand the feeling too well.

We will heal, in time... but for now...

/me hands Tod a shot of Tequila and a slice of lime

I can't believe this thread is still going. I took a two month break from SL and come back to the forums and still see this crap of inane banter being passed back and forth. God damn, I do truly hate SL (and the Internet) at times.

YUP! This is the thread of people who like to vent & share their lives. Stuff we dont talk about in SL. Even if its silly stupid stuff. We're here, we share.

I will be here when this thread hits 100,000 and beyond

<snip> . . . Recent research shows rather strong evidence of developmental slowness in children with older fathers . . . <snip>
I'm 54, my kids 13 and 11 and they are streets ahead of their peers. Maybe the older fathers got that way because they mostly *weren't* the brightest lights and couldn't attract anything until the biological clock-tickers got desperate. Do you have a reference for that research?

Back from the desert wedding, and the wildflowers were fantastic! The wedding went well: only one fight! Thanks for the well-wishes. I hope the bride is still on speaking terms with our family after the "incident." Poor thing. At least this time it wasn't my fault...folks should know better than to invite exes to sit at the same table, even if they appear conciliatory.

What has happened here? Do we still get fine coffee and rashers? I'm so tired I could really use a decent breakfast.
Mo was upset by Love's antics and my retaliation yesterday, so just in case Amaranthim's necro "Dessert Therapy" hasn't proved the restorative necessary, here's what I would call a "decent breakfast", although many would probably label it "indecent".

Pep (and here's a "fine coffee", although probably too "fine" for most here)

Call this an addendum to my weekend update.

So today I saw that there was going to be a "pile on" of the beta grid, in an attempt to stress test the 1.26 server. This I could not resist.

It started innocently enough, all sitting in Morris on the Aditi (beta) grid, waiting for things to get going. Prospero led the charge, suggesting we go crazy for a bit. The high prim avatars came out, with a large part of the crowd showing their Aggro dragons. Soon, the man o' the hour showed up -- Vektor Linden -- and we started our tests. I tossed on one of the "Corra Nacunda" avatars from Grendel's Children. That's a large raven-like humanoid in bedouin attire, and a very different look for me.

We friended each other, we took snapshots and sent them to each other, We paid each other. That latter one was where we encountered out first troubles, with the good ol' stale transactions rearing its ugly head.

Then it was time for some region crossing, heading down the continent to the sandboxes.

I should mention that in addition to all of us -- about 40+ people, and about an equal part Resident and Linden/Tester accounts, the full force of Enus Linden's umpity-hundred bot army was in Aditi. The little grid was straining at times. Region crossing was hard hard hard, and I did cross trying to go south from Balance into Fame on the way to HTTP In Sandbox 1.

But this led to one of the most amazing moments in my Second Life, swooping across these sims in bird form, with 10-15 of these huge dragon avatars flying in an accidental formation around me, watching the vapor trails of scores of unrezzed Enusbots criss-crossing up ahead. This is not the Second Life I joined in 2006. While I love my regular form dearly, I would adore seeing a "flock" of those dragons and other avians over head, and would be glad to join 'em. If for a bit. If I hadn't crashed, I'd have photos of this. :-(

Anyway, for those who talk about never seeing a Linden, well, I know where they all were yesterday, in attendance during the tests were Prospero, Alexa, Sabine, Usi, Which, Vektor, Dan, Maestro, Poppy, Beast, Milo, Q, Oskar, Rose, Nyx, Bambers, Jill and one other who I believed to be long gone -- Pony Linden. Rumors of Pony going to the glue factory are now proven wrong, once and for all. Here she is, recorded for posterity.

We did some more tests, doing some teleports and also going over those adult/mature/PG border crossings (and cross sim transactions) before settling back in Sandbox Cordova. For the next ten minutes, chaos reigned.

Normally, a sandbox is a place where griefing -- which commonplace -- is not allowed. Big signs declare "no weapons." not so, as Vektor Linden declared open season... on himself. Soon, all manner of griefer toy and projectile weapon was brought to bear. Even I had a fairly small .22 caliber rifle in hand, taking pot shots at Mister Vektor. I got him more than a few times, too.

[15:39] MystiTool HUD 1.3.1: Collision with "RSDM Slug", Owner: Vektor Linden

He got me too.

Anyway, for an idea of what this all looked like in the end, here's the beta grid's Sandbox Cordova at its worst.

. I'm starting to see the side of the wife-beaters and WHY they're right. F*ck 'em!!!

I really really need to comment on this ignorant statement."Wife beaters" don't beat on their wives because their wives are lying cheating etc.. A real man would walk away and go find a real woman in such a case. Wife beaters are sniveling cowardly, prick-less losers who hit someone half their size to feel more manly about themselves and to feel some sort of twisted power. Doesn't matter what the wife does or does not do.

Anyway,carry on.

If one is looking for other explanations than genetic or sperm degradation for a correlation like that reported above, it is easier than the one you suggest. Older fathers may be, statistically speaking, less available when children are young because they are mid-career, or may be less capable/interested in freequent physical play, lalala.

But we digress. My only point was, IF Tod wants to raise any sort of family, time to move on from attractive nuisances to a reasonable life partner.

Ya, it was the most fun you could have deliberately trying to bork Second Life.

An Pony is a cutie! She's not yer usual Linden (see http://secondlife.wikia.com/wiki/Pony_Linden ) and hadn't really been since since 2007.

Ridiculously early good morning Peepers :) and happy Tuesday to those it is Tuesday still or now. It's Spring break and son and father are off on a trippy trip to Texas, riding that big ol Pete. Truckers say there ain't no feeling like Petermobiling and I can attest to that fact in that one particular truck 'cause it is a damn limo with better audio visual equipment then we have at home and plenty of creature comforts in the sleeping compartment. If they don't kill each other first, they will be back next week. That kid of mine has seen more country than I ever will!Pep- breakfast looks awesome- anythng involving grilled tomatoes has my attention - and for the record I got that dessert thing in an email yesterday so if it is a re-hash it wasn't me :p !
Anyhoo- I think i can sneak in a nap before i have to stay up for the day - later gaters

Ah, it was older men from the USA that they looked at. Explains a lot. It also acknowledges that another study found that the children of younger fathers suffered similarly. My suggestion was not even considered I see, the research being extremely single minded. "Subtle" I understand to mean "almost no correlation at all" in academic-speak.

You have apparently drawn a false conclusion, which you even contradict yourself. If Tod wants to raise any sort of family then he would do better having a job that allows him to spend time with his kids and not worry about his age.

Pep (I would still recommend he stays away entirely from any commitment to women though)

Hi all! Miss being here during the day more than you know, and well, I've never been one to hang here when I can be inworld :)

Life is good - modeling school finished (again), mall is doing well, Bunny Hop completed (but as yet unpacked), and tonight I feel like cleaning out landmarks so I'm hopping throughout the grid. Yell if you see me! ;)

*waves to Honey*

I'm sorry you're not able to poke your head in here during the day. :(

I'm glad all is going well - good luck on unpacking all that Bunny Hop hunt stuff! :p

See you inworld. :)

/me hugs Tod.

I know this is how you feel now. I'm hoping, with time, reflection, and some distance from this pain, your heart will heal, and you'll be able to open yourself up to someone else.
