Frankly, yes. Enough people here have bought into his sometimes asshole/sometimes nice guy routine that it's kept him going quite happily. If he wants to be an asshat out in the fora in general, that's his business. But when he does it in this thread, and then tries to hide behind the spirit of this thread, that's entirely something different.

Some even defend him when he does go off the rails... God knows why.

QFT

(although if I quote this and mention how utterly spot-on Love is in her assessment of pippy's mental state he'll leap right in there to call me emotional like that's a bad thing and declare in wide-eyed amazement how everyone else is creating havoc in the Thread and he, himself, with his personal definition of levity, is perfectly innocent in his pursuit to make sure everyone adheres to his particular, peculiar and quixotical wordview. Of course, it's probably my turn again to bear the brunt of his self-congratulating, if tiresomely repetitive, 'witticisms' meant to amaze and astound the less attentive visitors to the fora. So what the heck, QFT)

PS - super shoes, Claire :)

I'm heading for bed...g'nite folks! xxx

I wish I DIDN'T know what they are. In college they were all I ate, for 6 straight years, because they were all I could afford. Hey when 'anything' is '10 packs for $1' that's what starving college kids buy! Blech, hope I never see another bowl of 'em.

It reassures me that both of you well-balanced (qv) "ladies" feel the same way. Since *you* have added nothing I need not bother responding, other than to point out that I have never described you as being emotional, which can be quite a good thing if allied with even a smidgeon of logic.

Pep (now, "over-emotional", that's another kettle of fish)

PS Is that "wordview" or "worldview"? Using these third languages can be difficult at times, eh!

I'd just like to point out to everyone that there has been no breakfast this morning, nor coffee.I hope everyone feels duly chastised.
I'm off work this week, so I went straight to brunch..

I think, considering the intended recipient, that either interpretation would be apt. :p

It's just as well that I'm here to point out the jokes Brann didn't realise she had made, eh?

Pep, I was pointing out not the absence of breakfast, but the reason for it's absence.

Yeah, I can understand that all those kitsch LOLCATs could put some people off their breakfast.

As Mo says "play nice", and I do the same. I merely respond in kind, whether in this thread or elsewhere.

Not so much. You took a shot at Lexxi, and I called you out on it. You took a shot at 3Ring, and I called you out on it. You've taken a few others which I'm sorry to say I didn't (nobody's perfect after all). Perhaps they really are your version of humour; I don't really know or care.

Look at it this way. You are such an asshole everywhere else in the forums, it's only natural to expect the same behaviour here. And in fact, your actions here back that assumption up quite strongly.

From: someone

Your problem, and those of occasional interferers here, seems to be that you take even levity seriously, and are paranoiacally looking for a malicious intent in all my posts...

So if you really want to live to the spirit of this thread, consider that when you write something ambiguous like that, it *will* get misinterpreted (presuming you meant as well as you can, of course). And given that knowledge, if you continue to do it, then we all know that you really *do* intend to be mean spirited.

From: someone

Pep (may I remind you that it was *you* that broke the truce you requested)

Have you noticed that I'm ignoring your nastiness everywhere else these days? I've only responded to you when you've abused this thread. And I'm not going to back down either. Keep being an asshole to people here, and I'll keep drawing attention to it.

At least one person has already left this thread solely because of *you*. And that's one too many.

And Pep- just as I spoke up the other day whe I felt a comment was unjust and mean towards you- I agree- you took a shot at 3 here and that's just wrong. I'll defend who in my perhaps twisted view deserves it, but this time- it isn't you :( Fair's fair.

aww. I'm sure the right name will come t'ya.

From: Claire Silverspar
Yey! have you named your new kitty yet Mari?

She came with the name Ruby, an was an owner surrender from the local shelter.

I love those piccies, specially the arty one.

This look awesome!

Oh ya, that thing was really amazing. I don't know if it is still in the air above IBM 6 (58, 48, 2500), but I know Spiral also has it is his store f'r about L$300. Only hard part is finding space f'r it. It's like 100m

From: Jerboa Haystack
Yay! for the new kitty, Mari.

The Spiral Watcher thing looks really neat. But this pic? ROFL! I love it! :D

Thankoo! It's part of a photo contest where you hafta use a lot of the products of the particular maker (-RC- Cluster) and try to be funny. So there's that. :-D

For me, that is a deal-breaker. I say, at that line you just walk away.

Do you want to be with someone who can put you on the shelf when you're inconvenient?

Ya know, I gotta agree. That's not the basis of a relationship. An ya, like someone else said, this is all about you being a "father" and not about being a "partner," from my perspective. The exchange with you waiting in the car for her is oh-so-very much that. :-(

What you are doing is coming into an existing place, with already established expectations (such as they are) of its members, and trying to change long-standing traditions (also such as they are) through a subtle form of blackmail. That's not a "deal."

Wrong on both counts.

From: Love Hastings
You've taken a few others which I'm sorry to say I didn't (nobody's perfect after all). Perhaps they really are your version of humour; I don't really know or care.
Now that's a reasonable attitude isn't it . . .

From: Love Hastings

I point out the dumbness of people around the forums. I don't in this thread or I would have a field day! Nevertheless, if your bigoted monomaniac mind looks for it then it will surely find it.

From: Love Hastings

And given that knowledge, if you continue to do it, then we all know that you really *do* intend to be mean spirited.
I write intentionally ambiguously most of the time, I agree. In this thread I try to be careful not to hurt, but if you are going to get unnecessarily over-sensitive and over-protective then you had better get a good stock of high-caffeine drinks in, because I refuse to toe any arbitrarily drawn and ludicrously politically correct line.

From: Love Hastings
Have you noticed that I'm ignoring your nastiness everywhere else these days?
What's to ignore?

From: Love Hastings
I've only responded to you when you've abused this thread.
Haven't done it, except in your deluded view.

From: Love Hastings
And I'm not going to back down either.
You think *I* am? ROFLMAO! Not while you are still vindictively and inaccurately calling me a liar.

From: Love Hastings
Keep being an asshole to people here, and I'll keep drawing attention to it.
You mean "Keep making jokes I don't really understand and I will invent interpretations that suit my warped argument", don't you?

From: Love Hastings
At least one person has already left this thread solely because of *you*. And that's one too many.
I noticed *you* taking responsibility for one! Changed your mind?

3Ring has chided me in an equivalent fashion here. I'm till waiting for any response from her to my jibe. If she admits that her sensitivity is such that it failed to tickle her notoriously scatological sense of humour then I will retract.
