in this we are not similar. i would have not hesitated to save my life by taking another. and if you even look at my kids wrong....

I definitely would not want to be on the receiving end of your attack....there would be nothing left to bury.

so either you are moving to Kentucky, or you aren't getting married. :( and i assume you'll want to live with your wife, not have her living with 2 friends. that part's a little baffling. tough decisions ahead. *hugs*

Another option is move in with the friends too and have a commune?

A commune, in Kentucky?

Chris would never allow that.

LOL

back when i was mush feistier and in reserves training, we had to play out a scenario of someone climbing in through a window, and then climbing back out when they realized the tenants were home. i was the tenant.

as the 'culprit' was climbing out, i shot him (pretend) in the back and killed him. ha ha ha

the sargeant was baffled. he asked me why, and i said that the culprit was climbing in through my kids bedroom window and threatening to kill me and my kids, so i had to protect myself and my family.

the sargeant proclaimed that this was not what he heard. i just casually stood my ground, and repeated my explanation. he began to anger. by the end of the class, he was absolutely furious, because i told him that i knew in advance that i would say it was dark, the guy looked like he was coming in, and he was threatening me verbally... and so i shot him. and a dead man can't dispute my claims.

that almost caused me to fail the class, but after a weekend of cooling off, the sargeant came to me and told me he understood my perspective... but ONLY as a tenant. this was not a plan i could implement as a police officer. i casually laughed and said ok.

as if.

as of yet, no one has dared entered my home unannounced or uninvited. (oh, and rest easy. i am not a police officer) i think people are afraid of me or something. :p

BTW- one reason she wants to move there is to "escape the rednecks here"
The rednecks in Kentucky are better rednecks?

Did you do a Google image search, Lexxi? You're there.

If you turn off the "safe" filter you see more pics.

I was looking for some written mention. I myself have almost 20,000 pictures on Flickr, so an image search wouldn't really work. I'd keep finding my own.

Ok . . . most of the pictures (with safe on) seem to involve SLU. And have nothing to do with me. 131 results. Maybe, not counting, but maybe 5 to ten have anything to do with me.

Yes, yes we are. We are the superior rednecks. Goes along with the whole arrogant thing.

Personally - I am a rotten shot. I will, however, beat the living crap out of some one so bad they will wish i had shot them - I am not dispassionate.

Unfortunately also, i retain this disconnected view so far that it restrains me from hurting another. I have been in a life or death situation and have actually chosen to 'pull the punch'. It's stupid considering that I realized at the moment that i was very much likely about to die i need that one more step- that thing that says- ok it's f'd its coming take him with u - i felt the 'it's coming followed by i'm not going down with out fighting'- and still was too bloody tame to take the kill shot- i am not sure which would bother me more- that i would have killed or that i didn't -
Bless you...not many people have that attitude. I'm fortunate to have never been attacked by an intruder in my home but a great many times in NYC I've found myself and a person I know I must protect being shadowed late at night by people who obviously were willing to do anything for some free money. If it helps you to know that you're not alone, throughout over more than a decade of studing martial arts the one lesson learned from my sifu is that when it is possible, the best course of action is to run like he** (he tells his Kung Fu students, "why do you think you do all those jumping jacks?";). When cornered, to the extent possible, defeat your opponent respectfully and after he is defeated, sit and listen. Personally, I don't like guns although I know how to use them and find external weapons a distraction in close quarters. You have my respect... (Oh, you can take that to Dunkin Donuts and see if they will give you a free cup of coffee for it - probably not, eh :-) Thanks for sharing your story. Jackie

I do absolutely agree that if you do draw a gun in defence of home and family you shd not leave the attacker alive to turn things around on you. Florida is a castle law state, btw.

Right after I posted that, I wondered if you would see it.

I'm absolutely not arguing with you in that situation. There are some risks that bear too high a cost. My problem is that by training and personality I'm afraid that I'd stop short of dealing the death blow. There's only one way to plumb that depth, unfortunately. Best regards, Jackie.

Yes, my classes taught me to never ever draw my gun unless I intended to kill. Whether or not that is is the actual result is irrelevant - people that try to threaten and bluff usually end up getting themselves hurt.

A few years back Colorado passed a "make my day" law that basically gives me permission to use deadly force if someone unlawfully enters my home and I have reasonable belief that the intruder intends to commit a crime in my home and use any sort of force doing it. Unlike most situations in Colorado, in this one case, I do not have to wait to be fired upon or actually even wait until my own life is in danger. I am simply allowed to use deadly force to protect my home and my family.

i can't decide if that's true or not.

either he loves strong woman because he enjoys the challenge, or he's threatened by them because he can't control them. i'll wager the latter is most likely.
