Amara, I'm still curious to know if you were griefed before, and if so, was the method the same this time?

Love- I honestly don't know. The workshop keeps poofing and some walls in the castle at home have disappeared as well, also, megas that had enclosed the property at home had also disappeared more than once- the thing all these poofs have in common is that the owner of both buildings and the megas at home is Steely and the land is mine.

Here is how it went....

2009/01/16 21:28] Chat Range: IDIOT GRIEFER [13m]

[2009/01/16 21:28] You: can i help u?
[2009/01/16 21:29] You: IDIOT GRIEFER- hello
[2009/01/16 21:29] You: this is my workshop can i help you?
[2009/01/16 21:29] You: people do not just barge into places
[2009/01/16 21:30] You: IDIOT GRIEFER can i help u?

Then he paid me 1 Linden

[2009/01/16 21:30] You: u need to leave i think u made a mistake let me return ur linden
[2009/01/16 21:30] IDIOT GRIEFER: im here on behalf of lindens design contest for febuary 2009
[2009/01/16 21:30] You: no not here
[2009/01/16 21:30] You: no contest here
[2009/01/16 21:31] You: this is a private space
[2009/01/16 21:31] -: Objects that are overlapping too many other primitives cannot be set dynamic.
[2009/01/16 21:31] ss: Objects that are overlapping too many other primitives cannot be set dynamic.

And that just kept going and going til the workshop just poofed and i started falling :(

I made an A/R against him and sent a screenshot of my non-existent shop. Today I banned him and now I have to go figure out how to use a dam security orb that i dont want to learn how to use! argh!!!

Thanks Elora - it was very annoying really - I just don't really understand why people go out of their way to be jack asses - in-game or in the world. Bully mindset I suppose. They must feel weak and powerless in their own lives so must try and feel some slight inkling of strength and worth by making others feel weak and powerless. Of course, me just minding my own business in m own space was an affront their pitiful self could not pass up- oh well... no extended harm done- I went back this morning, finished my work and Steely - yet again- replaced the building.

Any idea why he paid a Linden? Might have been a mistake trying to click on me or something- i don't know.. oh well- whatever - it's past til the next time and now at least that one is banned.

so Amar - he filled your land to the max with prims, and the land returned a different set of prims instead of his.

the only way to stop this is to set the land to group, and then only allow members of that group to build there. :(

(you don't have to deed it to group though, i don't think... but i am probably wrong about that)

It's above the store.... means people wont be able to open their packages there....

you can remove a 16m spot out front, from the rest of the land, put a platform on it and a sign saying "Open Packages Here" and make it 2 minute returns. a 16m only holds 3 prims so there won't be a bunch of griefing going on. i've seen that done before, and it works.

some places will cut out a small parcel just for rezzing packages. But then is it necessary for them to be able to open them there instead of home?

Some stores have an unpacking area. You subdivide the land, and only allow build on that portion, and then mark the floor accordingly. The maximum number of prims which can be rezzed will be proportional to the land area of the little build area over your whole parcel, I think (which means, only a few prims). If it isn't (and I'm sure someone will quickly clarify for us), you can sell that little portion to an alt. Then it will be fore sure. So a griefer will be able to rez only a few prims which won't affect your land in general.

You will also want to disable "object entry."

LOL, I see I'm two people too slow. :)

Are you close to an infohub or something? Otherwise this griefing sounds rather directed at one of you two. Make any immature enemies lately?

To add to the complication- Terminus, where TF is located is actually set to the Creative Arts Group - speaking of- anyone seen FD lately? Not here or in world! so- ages ago when i left Terminus for other reasons and moved my household across the grid, I created that group and FD and some artist friends of his came and made the parks space and it is beautiful. None of them really come by any more and now i havent even seen FD in awhile :( - Anyway, if I do those things- i might end up losing all the great work the did there- which wd be a real shame- the gardens are beautiful. I don't know i hate being forced into stuff- damn it - it's my space - leave me the hell alone- argh-

Amara, get hold of this:

http://uncensored.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=536223

It's the 'Guardian' security orb that Daros and I have rezzed in our treehouse. You can set the security to allow no avatars except those on a notecarded list. Rez it in your workshop, and only put the names of those you trust into the notecard. It won't help with the rezzing of griefer objects on your land but it will stop your griefer and any alts he creates from getting close to your workshop. The temp ban feature is great:

"Temp Ban - When an Avatar is ejected, they will also automatically be added to Land ban list for 5 minutes, preventing them from re-entering the property and griefing. After 5 minutes, when they try to reenter, and the system is on, they will be ejected again, and the process can repeat forever."

With regard to people unpacking on your land, just disable build, object entry and script for those not in the land group. Our home sim gets griefed sim-wide fairly regularly, but with those settings enabled our parcel survives pretty much intact. There are thousands of stores out there that don't allow build or script on their land, and most people are used to going home to unpack stuff.

Thank you Skell- that sounds perfect- I do want people to come to the store but the workshop shd be by invitation only! Excellent- thank you much. And I am afraid I will have to do that- the no rezz thing other than Land Group that way I don't kick out the artists but griefers can't grief- hmm- this raises the question if perhaps this is unrelated after all to the similar situation at home... That bit of land is closed except to Access list folks... yet there we have had parts of the castle poof - argh- it's mind boggling- but one little victory at a time- Thank you Skell- I will pick that up.. Is it eas to set out? I am so not techie its not funny!

On other subject.... just logged in and my money never finished loading and neither did my friends.. no Hippos (hmm, never thought I wd miss Hippos) but no names in places either....

Very easy to setup, yes. And purchasing on Xstreet is currently disabled for everyone, due to SL borkage.

That would be a tea pot.

It is the Treasure Quest Isle - currently decorated in an Alice in Wonderland type theme.
