.oO(insert nervous LOL here)

i just spoke to my boss, and she says she did that once. she called and they just put her back in the jury selection pool and forgave it.

so, i'm gonna go to work and call first thing in the morning to get it straightened out. i'm still a little  but i'm gonna have faith that they get this all the time, and understand that some of us are boneheads (thereby not really quality jury material anyway).

wut a dumbass!
I'd be pretty freaked too. But I bet it happens all the time. In fact I have a suspicion that some people just ignore jury summons.

I plead guilty to that one. It came at a really bad time, I really couldn't be bothered to try to ask out so I just ignored it. If they came looking for me I was just going to say, "It must have been lost in the mail. I never received it." That was 5 years or so ago, I've never heard a thing abouit it.

Geez, I never thought of using that excuse - and not like I'm super honest or anything cuz I'll give them other phony reasons to get out of it.

Once upon a time I felt it was my civic duty and I was proud at the thought of serving. Then I grew up, realized how screwed up the system is and I became totally cynical and disillusioned.

I served twice. I figure that's enough. Here in Jersey, you don't even get enough to park your car for the day.

Probably a wise move. They would probably come after you, meanwhile the thief/murderer/Congressman you would be sitting judgement on is allowed to be out on bail.

My Father was a police officer while I was growing up (reserves).

When I end up on the pool (VERY rarely) I just say my Dad was a cop and I figure anyone who got arrested had it happen for a reason.

I always get thanked and excused. :D

if chicks with big boobs work at Hooters,
where do chicks with one leg work?

without googling, i can't wait to hear your legit and priceless answers.

Similar worked for me the last time I was in - I work for the Denver Police dept. I know lots of cops, though not really good friends with any. I claimed I am good friends with lots of them and that I am sure that a cop would never arrest anyone that did not do the crime. The defense attorney wanted nothing more to do with me.

Two Hollywood icons have passed today:

Ricardo Montalban, fantasy island's Mr Roarke and Star Trek's Khan

This is very sad news, but it's not surprising. He has been suffering severely for a long time. During his last non-animated role, Spy Kids 3-D, he barley made it through shooting due to the pain.

He was a great man and a wonderful actor.

Cultural icons, both. I loved The Prisoner but then I was very disappointed that it just kind of petered out without explaining anything or really going anywhere. I like stories like that much better if they all come cleverly together at the end.

Given that the show was an analysis of the needs of the individual versus those of the community, an allegory, it didn't really need an explanation. In fact, that would have rather defeated the point. Still, McGoohan supposedly had to go into "hiding" for a while after the final episode aired. People were angry.

I agree the allegory worked fine but... We watched the show every week looking for clues as to who these people were and why they were holding him prisoner in this strange way...

Heh. It didn't really matter which side was holding him.

But why were they holding him LIKE THAT?!? It was clever which led me to hope for a clever ending or explanation - or development at least - but then there wasn't. I was disappointed. I'm over it now ... pretty much.

Patrick MacGoohan was my first crush. Just recently I got the DVD of "Thomasina" to show my daughter, and it was as good as I remembered.
