Erm, this is probably not the place to write this, but i did not want to open a thread just for my question to be answered. I'm very new to SL, i have regsitered my CC on my SL account webpage 2 days ago, my profile however says "No payment Info on File".
Any clues how long this process takes? In my Account Summary under Credit Card Type, my type is listed, so probablly means it was accepted too.

Any clues?

Not sure if this is the issue, but I've found that a modest purchase of Lindens from the Lindex exchange is needed to get that payment info on file to actually "take".

Hi Lucy, and welcome to SL!!

As others have mentioned, once you use your CC to buy some lindens, that "No payment Info on File" will change.

Have you actually tried to buy lindens with the card yet?

Usually the "no payment info on file" will go away within a day of your first actual purchase.

Not sure if this is the issue, but I've found that a modest purchase of Lindens from the Lindex exchange is needed to get that payment info on file to actually "take".

Inworld there used to be 3 statuses - No Payment Info On File, Payment Info On File, Payment Info Used. For some odd reason, the second status nevers seems to show for people any more - they go straight from the first to the third. So, buy some L$ and it will change.

I'm very new to SL, i have regsitered my CC on my SL account webpage 2 days ago, my profile however says "No payment Info on File".

The 'Payment Info on File' status hasn't worked correctly in I don't know how long. You will need to buy some L$ before it changes, and then it will say 'Payment Info Used.' Make sure you go to the Linden Dollar Exchange link on your account page if you buy online though, and NOT 'Increase Your Credit,' as that can create problems with the initial buy limits. Alternatively, use the blue 'L$' button at the top right of your viewer to purchase.

Oh, and the initial limit is 10USD, although that will increase in a few days.

Short term, you might enjoy having a little spending money for a shopping trip. Really $5-10 to test the waters isn't that much.

Oh...and don't be afraid to look any of us up (those that post a lot to this thread) for questions, or advice in world.

SL can have a steep learning curve. It's good to have some friendly folk to run to.

Specifically for these reasons, I think SL should figure out a way to uniquely identify new accounts vs alts and then give every new account L$50-100 as they first enter the grid.

Hi, Lucy. I had trouble with this too, but a phone call to support cleared it up right away.

I don't remember what my issue was, but after fussing and fuming and re-entering my information (don't do that by the way!), I called the number below and a nice man fixed it for me.
