Don't how you keep track of them all Elora lol. I have Chandra, and Lollipop. Chandra is pretty quiet, but then I don't let her out much. Lolli, is a very cute kiddie avvie. I don't play her a lot, but when she's out she is sooo cheeky.
I don't take them to the hangout a lot, mostly they're just out on my land. When they are at the hangout, I make sure its in my profile that they are my alts, and that people know who they are.

huh...I have made two alts. Both because of this thread.. JerboasGhost - after the unfortunate mousie-for-lunch incident. and JerboaThe Popstar - this weekend just to needle Brenda. Of course nobody would have figured out they were really me...when I'm in deep stealth...I'm real good.

I tried to morph into a guy once- not an alt- just me as a guy- it creeped me out so bad i can't tell you! I did it cause I attempted to make guy's clothes.. but it was so horrifying I couldn't concentrate and decided SL doesn't need me to make guy's stuff if I have to actually look like a guy to do it.

From: Lindal Kidd Morning, Threadies! I came home the other day with a couple of hot lingerie items from Victoria's Secret. The Resident Geek admired them extravagantly, until he caught sight of the sales slip. "Why is it that, the tinier and flimsier a woman's undergarment is, the more it costs?" he complained. I thought about that a little, and then pointed out a couple of catamarans he'd been drooling over on the web recently. One cost about $200,000, the other one $600,000...and neither one was in our budget that week. He'd explained that the pricier boat was made out of carbon fiber instead of fiberglass, and was a lot lighter (and faster). In both of these cases, what you're doing is paying more to buy less of something. Less fabric, less weight. How much does a pound of Less cost, I wondered? And where else do we find ourselves buying Less as a commodity? What do YOU pay to get Less of? Interesting question. The first thing that came to mind was electronics as they are always getting smaller and smaller. But they don't always cost more as they become less. Now, as far the lingerie goes, I'll have to add this comment just because no one else has. Pictures please!

I tried Chandra as a male once. Was just for seeing how some freebies looked, but I didn't have a decent shape, so didn't keep it. I definitely couldn't play as a male av, but it didn't freak me out totally.
Course, I bet it would prolly be wierder if I made Claire a male.
But then I'd prolly laugh over a guy called Claire.

From: Ghosty Kips I wonder why men seem to have little problem having female alts, but women dislike having male alts so much? At least that's how it seems to look from my seat. There's some truth in that. According to the surveys, about four times as many men as women play cross-gender avatars routinely. But it's an individual thing. I remember once trying to help a guy who wanted to try crossing over, just to see what it was like. He was so nervous and uncomfortable in a female av! Other guys have reported feeling the same way in threads here. Women can be the same way...I feel very uncomfortable when playing a male avatar. The only one I ever made finally got a sex change. It's all a matter of personal gender identity and preference. Some people can play either gender with equal ease. Others strongly prefer one over the other...and it may or may not be their Real Life gender. That's not what bugs me, though. What creeps me out are people who make armies of alts. (Sorry, Elora...none of the following is aimed at you, you are a sweetie!) Alts have the potential for serious abuse, as spies, as bait, as emotional blackmailers, and as head-diddlers. Some people, like Elora, just like having a lot of different roles to slip into...but any time I meet someone who's got a big stable of accounts, I can't help but be aware of the potential for abuse, and feel wary about them.

It's no fun dressing them, there isn't a decent freebie walk, and everyone assumes they just want sex. And for me I just can't disguise that I know nothing about the things most heterosexual men are into; sports, beer, computers and women

So true. I think many people do abuse their alts. I'm one of those who always has come clean about who I am when I'm in the other person. I always will announce right way "I'm Elora" when I walk into the room. And as mentioned, I rarely use these characters. Most were created when I first arrived inworld and were used instead of Elora, at a time when I was trying to hide certain activities from someone in my RL. He knew about Elora, but had no knowledge of the others. Now that that person is out of my life, it makes no difference who knows about the Alts at all. And since I myself have been the victim of "Alt Abuse", it would be hypocritical of me not to be honest.

From: Key MacMoragh The info note said that one should IM a certain person if you had trouble finding the flower in a particular store, so I did... I have to admit, the note didn't say she would help. So... she happened to be online, listened to me whine, then said, "Don't know where it is, hun." Me: "Is it impossibly small, like the others?" She: "dk" I know I'll go back, I just wanted to complain a bit.
I got more words out of her, but ended up even more confused by the end. She did sigh at me though. I forget which store you mean, but one that sticks in my mind that has three floors (though isn't *that* big) has a pillow and book with a reading animation. The flower was very close to that, on the ground, and tiny.

From: Maureen Boccaccio Mari - thanks for your weekend update! A perfect way to start my week. I have to get to Shangri-la to see the exhibit. That picture of you with your hula hoop...is full of joy. I could almost feel and smell the exhaust from those cars in the second one! And the birthday party photo was wonderful. Looks like everyone was a great time. Yer welcome! Th' show will be there through February 8th. I was really tryin' t'get a piccie of simple joy with the hula hoop one. Jes give the whole idea of simply having fun. Sometimes we all get tied into the dramas, or the SL economy, or system troubles, or whatever an forget that we all prob'ly mostly joined to have fun. The car one, well, Mr Grommet had me try out a new car. A 1948 Tucker. I wanted to do some piccies with it, an that ws what happened. I kinda did a bit of posterising on it to make it really sorta flat an graphic. The birthday party was super fun. We did trivia, which I totally won at, 'especially cuz it was cartoon an Disney trivia. An I got to hang out with some really super kids I know from camp. From: Ashe1 Writer Great Pics, Marianne. You have such an interesting life...I just might follow you around for a week or so Thankoo! What ha dun see is all the time spended workin' in the workshop, of course. From: 3Ring Binder totally LOVE this!!! you always have so much fun! your new place looks great! i love the giant bubble wand! Thanks! Th' bubble wand was one of those moments of inspiration. I was talkin' with my friend Johnny about how I wasn't sure how to make the gallery feel more like someplace for showin' kid piccies. It's all kinda moorish an formal. We started to bounce around ideas, an I started makin the bubbles made on the ideas. Before ya knew it, we had a theme. Mari

Agreed. And while some good natured head-diddling is not always a bad thing (gad, there's a phrase itching for use in a sig), the notion is one of the reasons I'd love to see limits placed on the number of alts one can have, and an end to anonymous accounts. I personally have no issue playing a female alt. It's hella fun most of the time. Only twice has someone wanted to get a little closer emotionally than was comfortable, and I had to confide that I was RL male so they wouldn't get hurt. Thankfully they respected me for that instead of getting too upset.

From: Claire Silverspar So, last night I got a bit annoyed at SL borking my inventory so I couldn't work on taking lots of piccies, which is what I normally do when bored on SL. I went to a beach place I used to love sitting at, but unfortunately, the whole place seems to have been flattened Then I noticed that the water looked nice with the sunset, reminded me of some fabulous SL piccies. Gave me an idea to try messing with filters again. I came up with this: I figure that if I can fine tune the filters, and maybe mess with the environment settings a bit, I might be able to have some great fun hehe. Beautiful piccie! Shows what one can do with some very basic stuff. Jes flat water and you. Super! What filters are ya usin?

From: Key MacMoragh Before I get ready for work... I've been on that stupid Gorwide Grid Hunt and hit a wall. I've gotten eleven thingies so far, but cannot find the microscopic flower in this huge honking store, which is not just huge, but has high ceilings and three floors and a moon on a chain that you can go inside (the moon, not the chain).
I spent three hours in that place.
Then I saw a note about the starting point... being NOT where the fabfree note said, but somewhere else, so I went to look there, just for a change...
ARGH!
The info note said that one should IM a certain person if you had trouble finding the flower in a particular store, so I did...
I have to admit, the note didn't say she would help. So... she happened to be online, listened to me whine, then said, "Don't know where it is, hun."

She: "dk"
I know I'll go back, I just wanted to complain a bit. http://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=617450
