I heard this on the drive to work this morning... a guy stole a car... (I forget where this happened) ...while driving around, he spotted a convenience store and decided he was a little thirsty ...upon exiting the store with his super big gulp...he is shocked when his stolen car...has been re-stolen! ...he marches back into the store and has the clerk call the cops ...who, after questioning arrest our knucklehead ...the kicker...the thief who stole the car from our first thief...was the original owner of the car! ![]() _____________________

So, last night I got a bit annoyed at SL borking my inventory so I couldn't work on taking lots of piccies, which is what I normally do when bored on SL. I went to a beach place I used to love sitting at, but unfortunately, the whole place seems to have been flattened ![]() Then I noticed that the water looked nice with the sunset, reminded me of some fabulous SL piccies. Gave me an idea to try messing with filters again. I came up with this: ![]() I figure that if I can fine tune the filters, and maybe mess with the environment settings a bit, I might be able to have some great fun hehe. WOW! that came out great! really lovely. _____________________

Paying More for Less and Loving It
01-12-2009 08:08
Morning, Threadies!
I came home the other day with a couple of hot lingerie items from Victoria's Secret. The Resident Geek admired them extravagantly, until he caught sight of the sales slip. "Why is it that, the tinier and flimsier a woman's undergarment is, the more it costs?" he complained. I thought about that a little, and then pointed out a couple of catamarans he'd been drooling over on the web recently. One cost about $200,000, the other one $600,000...and neither one was in our budget that week. He'd explained that the pricier boat was made out of carbon fiber instead of fiberglass, and was a lot lighter (and faster). In both of these cases, what you're doing is paying more to buy less of something. Less fabric, less weight. How much does a pound of Less cost, I wondered? And where else do we find ourselves buying Less as a commodity? What do YOU pay to get Less of? ![]() _____________________

And where else do we find ourselves buying Less as a commodity? What do YOU pay to get Less of? ![]() Bicycles are like that. The lighter they are, the more they cost. This is stated in an opposite way, but says the same as what you say: Bicycle buyers, whether they are conscious of their behavior or not, try to pay the MOST per pound rather than the least. A lighter bike is always a better bike and a more expensive bike. Cheap bikes from Wal-Mart tend to cost about $2 per pound, nice bikes from a bike shop cost about $20 per pound, and top-of-the-line racing bikes cost about $200 per pound which, interestingly, is about the same per-pound cost as a top-of-the-line Ferrari or Aston-Martin. from http://www.pbs.org/cringely/pulpit/2008/pulpit_20081126_005507.html : |

Hi Heish/Spadesrun, nice to have an Alt own up to who they are for a change. I don't think anyone was picking on you yesterday - you were playing nice lol. Perhaps you just got caught up in the "other" frey. Anyway, glad to "see" you back ![]() Hey, mine are real good at announcing themselves! _____________________

Yay- I'll tell the gang ![]() ![]() Ideally I think that is what an Alt should be. The ones I have that have no personalities at all I just don't use. My Alt, red-headed Ladyfox Aluveaux has a very distinct personality and quite a checkered past, but she, for the most part, has been shelved since I have no use for her any longer. I do bring her out on occassion because I have much affection for her and her past, and many people do know her. My twin, Loire Nightfire I bring out for giggles now and then when I can log us on together which is rare since my computer really can't handle it, but it's amusing to see us side by side (we're duplicates). People know about her as well. Sivyaleah Loire, never developed a personality at all so I don't do anything with her except bring her out when I want to shop and be left alone. My martian, Verde Martian is being developed and I did post her photo here and have brought her to the Hangout. She's cute and wierd but of no real use. The new one, QueenOfCorona Mexicola was develped just because the name cracked me up as soon as I thought of it. I really like how she's coming along. She looks extremely different from all of the others; darker skin and hair, taller, exotic looking. I might actually take to using her now and then. There's another one, who shall remain nameless because she got into some trouble. I love her, she's beautiful but alas, shall never see the light of day for the most part because of what happened. Well at least shall never be around here or the Cartel. I have a male alt whom I dispise. I'll never divulge his name, haven't used him but a handful of times and was awful at it. He's really good looking but I have no game as a guy at all ![]() _____________________

Hey, I have a Nightfire- she really doesn't get out much- AdAstra Nightfire- I just liked the name. NoirReve Aluveaux y'all saw at Christmas time and of course, Hera. There are others but they just exist in limbo. Damien was telling me the other night how all three are sort of me and together become the me on this side of the kb. He told it much better though.

That was fun, when I wasn't lagging completely. I'm going to have to try again. I got stuck in a mountain hole with Ghosty at one point, couldn't fly out or anything, but at least I didn't get killed off in the Stargate lol. BTW the retro look is very good on you Lexxi, you should wear it more often ![]() _____________________

...let's just say I've always viewed it as getting more...not less. ![]() /me grins at the Mousie and strikes a pose. Well said! I guess it's less of one thing, more of another. In the case of the Geek's dream boat, less weight, more speed. Same for the bike thing. Er...and the same for the lingerie too, I guess. Or at least, that's how it usually seems to turn out. _____________________

That's interesting that he said that. I found that eventually, I incorporated a lot of what Ladyfox was into Elora and didn't need her anymore. Originally she was my roleplay Alt, but I got bored with that and realized I didn't really need an Alt to roleplay specifically; and eventually I gave up roleplay completely anyway. Ladyfox was my favorite of them all. She really did have a full fledged life of her own, completely separate from Elora and for a long time, I barely ran Elora at all. _____________________

Yay- I'll tell the gang ![]() ![]() I have two alts that are just that way. My male is a Hindu god who reflects my better nature - quiet, patient and all about having fun. My female is my opposite - a snoot most of the time, strictly for lulz, but I do use her for camping and experimenting with design. I have some others, but I almost never use them. _____________________
