Actually, that's right, I don't. Actors are a waste of oxygen and add nothing to society. I can hate whoever I choose to hate, and it's not for you to tell me otherwise.

Gerard Butler is the hawt and i don't want you looking at him anyway. he's mine! MINE!

It's not that bad a job. You know that's just a myth about them not being allowed to move, right?

Yes. I have a cousin who was with The Old Guard at Arlington, and he showed me a whole list of myths about them and the Royal Guard. Very interesting.

Oddly enough, or perhaps not, he hated the assignment. As a career Infantry Officer, he despised playing "Toy Soldier".

This has always been a fovorite movie of mine

Met a couple of the Royal Guard members that were doing some training at the Army base in Kansas back in about '76 or '77. They were pretty much insane and alot of fun to party with.

You mean the Coldstream Guard? There is no such regiment as the "Royal Guard".

Is that their proper name? Thanks .

I must admit, I love all the Military Pagentry and Fanfare. I'm a sucker for a Military Band Concert, and I love going to The Marine Barracks for the Retreat Cermonies when I am in DC.

War is a terrible thing, but it is something that I don't think we can ever totally eradicate as long as humans have the same basic failings as we do now, but as a student of history, I've always felt that Soldiering is an Noble and Honorable profession, one that a true soldier will tell you should be used far less than it is. But sometimes, there are things worth fighting and dying for.

Didn't think to ask them the name of their regiment. Besides it was 30 years ago.

The guards brigade consists of five regiments; the Welsh Guards, the Irish Guards, the Coldstream Guards, the Scots Guards and the Grenadier Guards. Until 1920 there was also a batalion of Machine Gun Guards too.All are combat units rather than purely ceremonial units, but all five are also what are called "public duties batalions", which means they perform a ceremonial function too. It is the Coldstream Guards that have provided the guard for the Tower of London for the past 4 years. They rotate it round every few years or so.

Infact their proper name is the Her Majesty's Coldstream Regiment of Foot Guards - Coldstream being a small town in southern Scotland.

Nor should we. War is just a natural extension of competition, and without competition there is only stagnation. It is competion that creates innovation.

It's similar here, with the Old Guard. They are officially The 3rd US Infantry, all fully trained. Their responsibility is the defense of the City of Washington itself.

She started it.

I don't think she was making fun of your offspring, just your nickname on the Forum.

That was very uncalled for and not in the spirit of this Forum Conan. Really, incredibly spiteful.

And I am her Alt too.

Maybe we could talk them into defending the rest of the country from the nonsense that comes out of that city.

We're not talking about Pep now, we're talking about Ashe1, who started it by sending me abusive PMs.

What were they doing on August 24th 1814?

Not a bad idea. Just have them point their weapons inward. Although as well trained as they are, you would need a whole division to quell the stupidity from that place.

I'm aware of that. I was catching up. Calling Ashe's child retarded in public no less, is beyond the pale.

Geez. Who raised you? Don't you know any better?
